I am having some trouble installing a patch for my Civ 3 game. Any help would be much appreciated. I am also new to PC gaming so I could really use some help on this.

To install the patch, first download the correct one here (http://www.civfanatics.com/civ3/patches). Save it to your desktop. Once it is finished, double click it and follow the instructions on the screen. That's all there is to it. Once you have installed the patch, when you load up the game, in the bottom left corner you should see a number (the number should be the patch you just downloaded. For Conquests, it should say 1.22 if you downloaded the latest patch).

The thing is everytime I download the patch and run it once I click on civ 3 it tells me to insert the disc and whatnot. And while I run it it says do you want to delete the file or something or other.

Are you downloading the patch for your right game (ie; Regular Civ3, or one of its expansions?) and for your language?

Yes it is the "vanilla" one and is the correct language.

Did you download the game or buy it in a store?

It was purchased online on Ebay. I saw this might be a problem when going other patch threads.

Yeah, it might not be a legit copy.

I run the patch then when I click on Civ 3 it tells me it can't find the disc or something or other.
