I have Civ 3 installed on my desktop and it runs just fine, other than a little slow (short on RAM), but I've installed it on my laptop and the installtion completed successfully but when I click on the desktop shortcut, the title screen comes up, then goes off and the game never starts. When I go to the Task Manager, it's not listed as a running application. The program won't start (other than the title screen), what gives? The laptop is brand new and the video card should be plenty powerful enough, and I've got plenty of memory and all that.

Hey Dave,

Try the steps here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=118126#9) and see if that fixes it.

My refresh rate is set at 60 htz. When I looked up on the official tech support site how to change it to 72, it says to set it to 60. Who's right?

Actually, I don't seem to have a Civilization3.ini file.

The ini file is created when you run the game. If it never actually starts, it won't be created.

But you*can* create teh file manually, and just put in the lines you need. WHen the game runs, it will append the rest of the ini file stuff to that.

Try changing it to 72. Create a Civilization3.ini file in notepad (save it as a .ini), and add the line "Refresh=72".
