I voted the spaceship one since you have to be from Mars to mine a hill this early, like despotic GAs and not trade with anyone.

I think it will take until 250 AD, but Provo et.al. will try. It will be a lot of fun.

I don't think they will. Immortals landing is nothing short of doomed against GS's, unless supported by a large number of spears. But they don't know MM, right?

I voted before 1000AD, but I've changed my mind to somewhere between 50BC and 250AD.

A mined hill is
A. Stupid before despotism is out
B. Unconsiderate unless you plan a GA to get the third shield
C. Waste of your time at any rate whatsoever before your city needs a mined hill to produce further - which shouldn't happen before 8-9 pop

So the only viable reasoning is that they planned an early GA. And here by viable I mean "not of a cynically obtuse potheadedness"
