i just got an nvidia 5500, 256 mb card in anticipation of the 3d stuff of civ4

but now my civ3 runs at something like 480x320 resolution not even displaying the whole screen...gah, i have the latest nvidia driver (77.73), is there a setting in the civ3 config file that can be changed or something?

also, if I was to un-install civ3, is there any way to save the hall of fame?

thanks.

The default resolution should be 1024x768.

If you have a resolution higher than that (or even that), try entering the line:
KeepRes=1
to your Civilization3.ini file in your C:/Program Files/Infogrames Interactive/Civilization III/ (/Civ3PTW/ or /Conquests/ if you have an expansion -- if so, the ini file would be ptw.inin or conquests.ini).

If you don't have one, you can just create one in notepad (save as a .ini not a .txt -- on the save menu, select "All Files" in format type, and save it as "Civilization3.ini").

Whenever you reinstall, it should keep the hall of fame file, but, just in case, go to your Civilization 3 folder, and copy the HighScores.cv3 file to your desktop.

Wow, thankyou! I feel like a complete idiot, as this information would have been useful 1 year ago. Craaaaazy... now I finally see CivIII as it is meant to be seen, not all stretchy lookin... heh.
