View Full Version : Sucession LK6 - Anyone plays - Iroqouis
LKendter Dec 30, 2001, 08:51 PM Worker automate is not fair is sucession games - please do not use it
Civs = 12
Civilzation = Iroquois, as they have not been played in a succession game.
World = Large, Wet, Warm, 5 Billion, large continents.
Difficulty = Regent
Barbarians = Roaming
Anyone can play. Only limitations - maximum of 20 turns.
There must be at least one person between your turns.
Post if you can play and complete you turn within 24 hours.
4000 BC - A great river square is spotted, and our settler heads that way.
3950 BC - Salamanca is formed. Masonary research is started, for I always like to get the Pyramids.
3800 BC - The Chehalis tribe teachs us Warrior Code.
LKendter Dec 30, 2001, 08:57 PM 3700 BC - Furs are spotted. A lousy location, but it would put a lot of hills and moutains under our control.
3600 BC - Micro manage Salamanca to encourage food growth, I want the settler to start.
3450 BC - The Navajo give us $25.
3400 BC - Salamanca orders the Production of a needed settler. More fur is spotted, in a much more reasonable area.
3250 BC - Incense spotted. The Olmec tribe teachs us the wheel. I spot horses near Salamanca :)
3150 BC - Enter an unknown culutures borders.
3100 BC - It turns out to be France. What a crappy starting location. The deal does favor France, but we give up Warrior Code, Pottery, Wheel to gain Alphabet, Masonry (saves us 24 turns), 10 gold and the French worker.
3050 BC - Horseback riding is order to be researched. Paris really sucks as a city. I want the Mounted Warrior to wipe them out.
Edit - deleted attachments to save space.
Garsonga Dec 30, 2001, 11:02 PM I've got the game and giving it a go, looks like fun.
Garsonga
Garsonga Dec 31, 2001, 12:03 AM Garson the First, assumed control of the empire in 3050 BC
Here is the chain of events
3000 BC Settler sent to found city east of Salamanca to secure access to furs.
2950-2900 Continuing city improvements and exploration
2850-2800 Found Bablyonians, Traded Masonry for Bronze Working and 2 Gold.
2750 BC Ordered Salamanca to produce another settler.
2710 Pretty Quite
2670 Founded City of Garsonia, named for loved Emporer.
2630-2550 Exploring and continuing improvements
2510 BC The Navajo tribe impressed with our emissary teaches us Mysticism
2430-2350 Exploring and sadly our scout is ambused by barbarian party in the north west.
2310 BC Settler sent north to found a new city and secure horses
2270 BC Warrior produced and sent north to fortify new city. Niagara Falls founded horse access secured.
2230 BC Roadways are being connected northward, soon horses will be ours, we may begin conquest of the evil French to the north. Garson I retires, anxious to see the glorious empire expand.
Thiazi Dec 31, 2001, 12:58 AM 2230: Emperor Thiazi takes over the fledgling Iroquois Nation. His first act is to raise tech to 100%, for it will bring the much-needed technology, horseback riding, in 5 fewer turns. This does lead us to operating at somewhat of a loss but the Emperor is confidant that raiding the surrounding countryside will provide more than enough income to make up for whatever losses we may incur. He also feels that brining in a lot of money is not important at the moment, since our neighbors do not seem like they will be very useful trading partners. France is perennially in debt and the Babylonians may as well be.
2190: The Babylonian city of Ur is ransacked by barbarians.
2150: The warrior stationed at Niagara Falls is sent NE to investigate a potential barbican encampment (goody hut). Our scout near Babylon has learned that Ur survived the barbarian raids. Our workers have completed a road, which will bring horses to Salamanca!
2110: Warriors are completed in Garsonia and Niagara Falls; we begin production of a temple and warrior respectively.
2070: Barbarians defeated at Niagara Falls and a barbarian encampment south of the Babylonian city of Ur is raised, we gain 25 gold.
2030: Our workers have built a road to our supply of furs near Garsonia.
1990: Barracks completed in Salamanca; production of the Pyramids has begun.
1950: The production of the warrior in Niagara Falls is changed to that of a chariot.
1910 – 1870: Infrastructure improvements.
1830 - 1790: Our warrior reaches the goody hut to the NE of Niagara Falls. He defeats one barbarian warrior and finds maps of the surrounding region. On these said maps, our scholars have located what appears to be a land bridge to another island. Maybe, new and advance peoples lie somewhere in the heart of darkness (jungle). The city if Niagara Falls completes its first unit of chariots and begins production of its next unit.
1750: Our researchers have discovered horseback riding and will now focus their attention on iron working. We can now build our UU.
1725: Our chariot defeats a barb encampment NW of Niagara Falls and returns 25 gold to the Empire. Our science rate is lowered to 8-%.
1675: Barbarian warriors are defeated near the land bridge.
1650 – 1625: Another period of infrastructure improvements and exploration.
1600: We spot another goody hut south of the Babylonian city of Nineveh; it contains a conscript warrior. The temple in Garsonia is complete and it begins production of a settler. The chariot at Niagara Falls is complete and is sent to Salamanca, for what I now realize as no apparent reason. Niagara Falls begins production of a mounted warrior.
1575: The Emperor Thiazi abruptly resigns from his post. No one knew who or what caused him to resign but it is reported that he said, “I will rise again.”
Well my reign did not pan out quite how I had expected it to. The French are still here, though to be honest they seem like they will be a push over and a combined force of warriors and chariots/mounted warriors should do the trick, we only advanced one tech (horseback riding) and our expansion has pretty much halted. I am now building one settler but it may be wise to change Niagara to a settler. I could have produced more settlers but Ike really wanted us to get the Pyramids, so rather than pump out settlers from our capital, it is constructing the Pyramids. Anyway, you will probably want to change the science rates but I had raised them to ensure that we secured horseback riding in my reign and we are well on our way to getting iron working, though I fear iron may not be prevalent in our territory. We should continue the road to Paris, since these cities will soon be ours and we should hopefully run into some new and maybe even advance civilizations to the east, France and Babylon are not going to help push us through the tech tree, so maybe someone else can. Good luck to the next person and I hope that I didn’t drag us down too much.

Thiazi Dec 31, 2001, 02:13 AM Here is the actual attachment. I need to learn to review my posts before I hit the submit button.
cdub Dec 31, 2001, 02:58 AM Never played with the Iroquios, should be interesting.... I am downloading now.
cdub Dec 31, 2001, 04:05 AM King Cdub takes the thrown and realizes two things- expansion and maybe a just a tad more military might be helpful...
1550 BC- Workers are ordered to construct roads, a road all the way to Paris seemed to be already in construction so the Great King allowed it to be resumed (this could be useful in pipeling are troops there quicker, and to set up a trade, I have never actually done this before so it was worth a shot.)
1525 BC- Workers are still constructing roads, this does leave our mainland lacking in improvements though...
1500 BC- The King ordered a chariot to the outskirts of Paris.
1475 BC- Our chariot crushes a roaming hethen in a smashing victory.
1450 BC- Our chariot discovers a barbarian encampment and sends the tribe up in flames, the chariot becomes a vet., and 25 gold is added to the coffers.
1425 BC- A worker is suspected of being under the influence of Babylonian crack and goes the wrong way  , it would 25 whole years before the worker gets back on track.
1400 BC- Another chariot and warrior are ordered to the outskirts of Paris, Joan doesn't suspect a thing.
1375 BC- A Mounted Warrior is completed in Niagra Falls, he too will be sent to the outskits of Paris, a settler is ordered on the prospect of expanding Iroquios greatness. ;)
1350 BC- Another glorious warrior is ordered to the outskirts of Paris.
1325 BC- A settler is constructed in Garsonia, an archer is ordered, but the great King will change to a Mounted Warrior when the road links the city up.
1300 BC- The King has ocnference with the military council to find out that 2 chariots and 1 mounted warrior are on the outskirts of Paris in position, there are 2 warriors not far behind. Cdub tried to quelm the civil unrest in Niagra Falls, luxory boosted to 20%.
1275 BC- A quiet period where summer BBQ's and Saturday nights at the local little league park were all the rage:D .
1250 BC- We obtain Writing from the Frech, we give them Horseback Riding, 75 gold, and contact with the Babylonians. Iron is discovered, a source is close to Niagra Falls! Cdub instructs his scientists to search for Polytheism, so Monarchy could be the next one after.
1225 BC- The road connecting Garsonia is completed, a Mounted Warrior is in the works.
1200 BC- A worker is ordered to chop down a forest near Salamanca so the shields could go towards the Great Pyramids.
1175 BC- Another quiet period, Pick up Sticks is played by all the kids, and canoe contests help pass the time.
1150 BC- A settler is produced in Niagra Falls, a great temple is ordered to be constructed.
1125 BC- Science is cut by 20%, we now are not losing any money. King Cdub orders the construction of a new great city called Grand River. Although there are no rivers around it is the Civ's first coastal city, and the iron is in their culutural border :goodjob: . An Incan tribe decides to teach our emissary Philosophy.
1100 BC- Bill Cosby does stand up comedy to keep the masses chuckeling, E.T. tops the box offices.
1075 BC- Another Iroquios settler is just one move away from building another great city. 2 chariots, 1 mounted warrior, and two warriors are in position just outside of Paris. Our workers are very close to connecting Paris with our Civ.
Well there are my 20 turns, Not much activity to report. 3 techs were learned ( Philosophy, Iron Workings, and Writing), A mounted warrior was constructed all units were sent to the outskirts of Paris with the exception of an exploring warrior. It has yet to be seen what the two workers building the road to Paris will help in the long run, but I believe the road helped my objectives (military and expansion). So good luck to who is next.... :king:
LKendter Dec 31, 2001, 08:08 AM Thazi, and anybody else looking to join. POST your intention to play before playing. I notice the game was DOWNLOADED twice, but nobody expressed interest in playing This could create a mess with two players doing the same time frame.
Oh, of course I am playing my game :)
LKendter Dec 31, 2001, 10:02 AM The son of Lee the Founder takes over. He shall be known as General Lee. He is please to see others love wonders, and that the Pyramids should complete under his rule. His mission is clear, kill the French. Iron source #2, we know they can deplete. He also sees incense, to make our people happy. The science rate is lowered to 10%, as it appears to make no difference. He then shows his evil side, selling the French Philosphy to suck all there money and contact with the English, even though they shall die shortly. We are better then the English, by 3 techs :) We give them Horseback riding and $12 for contact with the Romans and the Chinesse. We establish Embassy #1, with Babylon. General Lee decides it is finally time to take his first turn.
1050 BC - Well Babylon is an idiot, and tries to extort Horseback riding from us. War with Babylon. Niagra falls changed to barracks, and the whip is cracked.
1025 BC - OK, we may doom the kingdom, but war with France :flamedevi: Our mounted Warrior killes the French warrior with settler. We get 2 free workers and our Golden Age. Grand river ordered to build another Warior.
1000 BC - Our warrior defeats a bowman on defense.
975 BC - ZZZZZZZ
950 BC - We defeat a French Warrior. The settler still can't for a town, first a Barb camp next to it, and know and elite Babylon Warrior. We crack the whip again, Niagara Falls rushes a Mounted Warrior. Can't afford to whip there again. We get enough cash, and establish an embassy with Rome. They are trying to build the Pyramids, 47 turns.
925 BC - ZZZZZZZ
900 BC - Our mounted warrior earns his worth, whip into being, then kills that elite warrior. We can finally build our next city. A French warrior tries to ambush a different mounted warrior, and we laugh in his face. The best news of my reign so far, the Pyramids are built. I hope to take advantage of our golden age and start the Oracle. Garsonia builds a mounted warrior, and starts another.
875 BC - ZZZZZZZ
850 BC - Attack on France really begins - Victorious Mounted warrior promoted to Veteran, Paris is taken along with 5 gold. Leeville is formed in honor of our great general.
825 BC - Another embassy is established - with the Chinesse. Bejing is a decent production city, but to close to another. The Chinesse have loads of silks.
800 BC - Our warrior in Babylon territory continues to be chased. Not doing much, but Babylon hasn't come our way either.
775 BC - Our first casualty - A barb kills a worker. The chased warrior defends against another Bowmen, where he started is journey :lol
750 BC - More casulties :( The barb defeat our defender in Niagara falls. Mounter warrior just one turn away is zapped. Garsonia whips out a barracks. 2 spearman die in Orleans, but the chariot falls to kill and archer. General Lee states: No real loss, for the Chariot is already out of date.
730 BC - Garsonia begins building a spearman. If an attack comes from Babylon, this will be it. I hate the patch. Orleans is destroyed :( I hate respawning civs. Another Orleans is spotted. Niagara falls changed to settler. Target is Orleans old location, and 2 incense. Grand River begins a spearman.
710 BC - The final embassy is formed with England.
690 BC - We destroy the Carib barb camp for $25. These are probably the ones that attacked Niagra falls.
670 BC - The chased warrior finally dies. Babylon may come our way.
650 BC to 630 BC - ZZZZZZZ
610 BC - Defeat a French archer.
Summary - Grand River is not a great town - just keep producing Military. We need to get spearman defending our cities. Keep the settler escorted - it should form Incense town. We are just a handfull of turns from Oracle - We may get it! Paris and Grand River (with Iron) about to connect to our road net.
Edit - deleted attachments to save space.
Thiazi Dec 31, 2001, 11:19 AM I had posted my intention to play but I edited that post and replaced it with my summary. I will be careful not to do that again.
Thiazi Dec 31, 2001, 11:26 AM I am now going to play my next 20 turns.
(now playing)
Thiazi Dec 31, 2001, 01:04 PM The second reign of Emperor Thiazi was of much more note and importance than his first. We gained three new technologies (philosophy, mathematics and map making), we exterminated the hated French and we have built up a mighty army for the next emperor to thwart the Babylonians. We unfortunately fell short of goal of having both the Oracle and Pyramids at Salamanca but after losing out on the Oracle to the Zulu, Salamanca went into high gear producing much of our military. The emperor added two new Iroquois cities during his reign and he has at least two more settlers on the way. He felt that while expansion was important, we could gain a lot more cities through military conquest.
610 BC: The Emperor Thiazi returns from the east, pledging to make the entire world understand the power of the Iroquois Nation. His first act is to position troops to take the French city of Lyons and it was so.
590 BC: The former French city of Lyons is taken and razed (not my choice) but at the cost of one our great mounted warriors. Terrible news! The dreaded Zulu have completed the Oracle five turns ahead of us; there are no new wonders for Salamanca to construct.
570 BC: Our troops march on to “new” Orleans and our Golden Age has finally come to an end.
550 BC: Salamanca has completed a mounted warrior and begins training for the next group of mounted warriors.
530 BC: The Emperor noticed a massive Babylonian attack force approaching Garsonia and he wisely decides to make peace. It costs us philosophy and I believe 50 gold. We will deal with the Babylonians later but we were not in a position to fight a war at home and at France. France seeing potential weakness attempts to sue for peace but their cries fall of deaf ears.
510 BC: The whipped was cracked at Grand River and a spearman will be completed shortly. We have completed a temple in Paris and Paris will now begin construction of barracks (we do not need barracks in Paris anymore but I will let the next leader decide what to do with the shields). The spearman is completed in Grand River and they are asked to start training another group of spearmen.
490 BC: Two warriors at Salamanca are upgraded to swordsmen at the cost of 80 gold, they will then be sent on to Garsonia where we will amass our Babylonian Attack Force. The city of Allegheny is funded near the old site of Orleans and it brings incense to the empire. Allegheny begins construction of a temple. The warrior stationed at Niagara Falls has been refitted as a swordsman. Another mounted warrior is complete at Salamanca; they begin training of more mounted warriors. A mounted warrior is complete at Niagara Falls and they too begin production of another group of mounted warriors. The whip was cracked at the stalled city of Garsonia and a mounted warrior will be complete in one turn.
470 BC: Our diplomats have purchased contact with the Egyptians from the Chinese for 20 gold. They then sold Philosophy to the Chinese for 50 gold. (This was a somewhat of a mistake but I was playing quickly, so they happen sometimes) We sell our territory map to the English for their territory map, 8 gold and 2 gold per turn. We then sell the English our world map and 40 gold for Polytheism and Mathematics. (I could have gotten those two techs for just the world map but I am always attracted to per turn gold) Our scholars are now researching a new form of government known as Monarchy. (I looked into upping our research rates but the few turns gained were not worth the money lost) A mounted warrior is complete at Garsonia; they start production of another group of mounted warriors.
450 BC: A period of eerie calm.
430 BC: Another mounted warrior is rushed at Garsonia; they will continue to pump out mounted warriors.
410 BC: We purchase a Roman worker at the cost of 30 gold. The mounted warrior is complete at Garsonia and they begin production of more mounted warriors.
390 BC: The calm before the storm.
370 BC: The road to Leeville has been completed and the final French city of Orleans has been captured! The French are now no more and we gain another worker who immediately began production of a road to civilization.
350 BC: The troops that were used to attack the French are sent to garrison at Garsonia. Garsonia will be the launching point for our war with the Babylonians. (By the end of my reign we have approximately 15 offensive units, 5 swordsmen and 10 mounted warriors) Our diplomats have purchased map-making from China for Philosophy and 10 gold. A mounted warrior is rushed at Garsonia and they begin training of another group of mounted warriors. A swordsman is complete at Salamanca and they now focus their attention on producing another mounted warrior.
330 BC: Rome declares war on the Babylonians! (The next leader should look into allying with Rome and we may be able to wipe out the Babylonians. We have more than enough offensive units and if they are fighting a two front war, we should be able to get some relatively easy gains) A mounted warrior is completed at Niagara Falls and they begin amassing a group of settlers.
310 BC: The warrior garrisoned at Garsonia is upgraded to a swordsman. Grand River has completed another spearman and now focuses its attention on the construction of a galley.
290 BC: A swordsman is completed at Salamanca and they begin producing a mounted warrior. The barracks at Leeville have been completed and they are now producing a group of settlers.
270 BC: Rome offers us their territory map for ours; I renegotiate the deal and also get 4 gold; it is not much but it is still nice to have.
250 BC: We have purchased an English worker for 30 gold.
230 BC: The warrior at Leeville is refitted as a swordsman. The galley at Garsonia has been rushed. Salamanca has completed a mounted warrior and begins production of another. The Emperor Thiazi retires feeling that he has done all that he can for the empire and that his successor will do even better things.
Pggar Dec 31, 2001, 01:15 PM I'll play this one now!!
Pggar Dec 31, 2001, 03:29 PM 170bc - Settler left Salamanca.
150bc - Settler left Niagara falls. Worker left Salamanca
130bc - The Babylonians placed a city in the wrong location, so I declared war. We've destroyed Nippur.
110bc - Settler left Leeville.
50bc - Settler left Garsonia. A Babylonian troop (2 warriors, 3 bowmen) was destroyed. Cattaraugus was founded.
30bc - Oil Springs founded.
30ad - Eridu was destroyed. Tonawanda and Mauch Chunk were founded.
170ad- Kishwas captured. Peace seales with the Babs.We received construction, two workers and a territory map.
190ad - The Americans built the Great Library. The chinese got to the place I was going to settle. We should crush them (I'm a bit offensive today). Got Monarchy from Egypt.
We lost very little in the war. The next player should decide what to do with the settler I didn't move. I don't think we should become a monarchy. Research Code of Laws, then Republic, and then become a Republic. We'll lose less with a single period of anarchy. Good Luck!
LKendter Dec 31, 2001, 03:53 PM By Thiazi
"250 BC: We have purchased an English worker for 30 gold."
I am glad to see other players like to do this. They may work at 1/2 rate, but they are still worth it. Plus, early in the game, it can really cripple the AI.
I am playing my game again.
Plexus Dec 31, 2001, 04:02 PM I would like to do it after whoever has it now. :D
LKendter Dec 31, 2001, 06:47 PM Kendter the boring takes over. The city named for his ancestors is insult to our family name. Work is switched to a Spearman. How dare they build the most useless unit of a Catapult. Our population is #1, though some of our other rankings are weak.
Good news -
Babylon / England / Rome have no Iron or Horses
Egypt / China have no Iron
Trading World map to Rome for territory map & $50, China for $7 and terriory map. China back to Cautious. The world attitude toward us SUCKS!
We hold a revolution, for we are religious.
210 AD - China dares to think of sending a settler past Cattaraugus, so we form a wall to stop him.
250 AD - Paris micro management pays, at the city has a decent produciton rate now. Forbidden palace started.
260 AD - Our ego continues, and another city formed with the family name.
270 AD - Cornerville formed - It should be another great production city so close to our capital. Kendtertown rushes a temple.
300 AD - Another Rush job for Kendtertown, barracks.
310 AD - Irragation starts near Allegheny. I want this city to start growing, especially with FP being worked on in Paris.
350 AD - We buy literature from Egypt for $160. Sell Monarchy to China for $140, Code of laws (saves 2 turns) and World Map. Egypt is HUGH! Sell Rome Monarchy for $20, world map and $2/turn. England Monarchy for $6, $3/turn and World Map. Science at 10%, as nothing speeds up Republic.
Summary -
The forbidden palace will take awhile, but once complete we should have a lot of great production cities. Don't stop it.
You have a settler near Paris, and one due next turn.
My focus was increase the number of spearman.

Garsonga Dec 31, 2001, 06:51 PM I've got it, should post within a hour or so.
Garsanga
Garsonga Dec 31, 2001, 08:46 PM Sequence of events as follows:
420 BC The Kingdom is surveyed and Garson sees that the legacy his great-great -great grandfather begin has contiuned well. A settler is completed in Niagara Falls, and is immediately ordered to the unspoiled forest in the middle of our great kingdom.
430 BC We are informed by a passing traverler the English are building the Hanging Garden. We are not worried the great project begin by our forefathers is nearly complete.
440 BC The settler north of Paris is sent to begin a great city on the coast crowning the top of our kingdom.
450 BC Rejoice great people the Hanging Garden in Salamanca has been completed. Joy will flow to our people. City governor is ordered to build a Library, to began what could be the cultural and educational center of the Iroquois nation. We are told people of a far land called Egpyt are build a Great Lighthouse.
460 ADomans sent an emissay requesting Literature, but with only a World Map to trade, we feel this is not good enough for our great achievement.
470 AD The area around Paris is being improved with irrigation as requested by our former leader. The evil Romans try and sneak forces by gallry on our south coast but are blocking by valiant Mounted warriors without incident.
480-510 AD Centertown is founded completed our culture influnce in the center of our great nation. A temple is ordered in honor of the event.
520 AD The Wicked Chinese are massing forces in Tatung, could soon be trouble in that area.
530-540 AD Great news! The wonderful Colossus is completed in the city of Great Rapids.
550-560 AD We love the King day is celebrated in Garsonia, what an honor.
570-580 AD The people of Tientsin, south of our captial center or so in awe they abandon the evil Chinese and join our glorious empire, we accept them with open arms, and sent a loyal mounted warrior to reinforce the city, just in case.
590-620 AD Making improvements, send settler north east to the land bridge blocking the evil chinese from our empire, I await the next great leader to determine where the blocking city will be founded.
Thus ends the time of Garson II, it has been a quiet time for culture improvement and force building. Two great wonders finished and three new cities founded. A satisfactory tenure.
Notes to future leaders: The Babylonians look to be sneaking forces into our territory in the south east I've sent a mounted warrior to intercept and block. The city of Kish needs to be connect via roadways I look for the Babylonians to move in that area very soon. We still need to watch the Chinese in the northeast I smell trouble. Good Luck!
Garsonga
LKendter Dec 31, 2001, 08:49 PM Why not - I started this game, so I will play another round.
LKendter Dec 31, 2001, 09:55 PM Garsonga - Please save the game. Don't use the autosave copy, as 620AD wasn't completed.
"The people of Tientsin, south of our captial center or so in awe they abandon the evil Chinese and join our glorious empire, we accept them with open arms, and sent a loyal mounted warrior to reinforce the city, just in case."
I am not surprised. Why I didn' fight over the city.
Pre-start trading - Buy another Roman worker. You can never have enough workers.
650 AD - Generic City is formed near the Chinesse border.
660 AD - Rush build Generic City a temple. Can we flip another Chinesse city :flamedevi: Cornerville switch to harbor. It would be nice to start trading luxuries.
670 AD to 730 AD - Irragation and roads.
740 AD - A weak deal, but $2/turn for furs to China. Give Egypt furs for Currency, territory map and $9. I am not to hot for givin up resources, but I trade England horses for $30 and $7/turn. Of course, they are on the other side of the nasty Babylon people ;) The trading is paying off, as the world attitude toward us improves. Disband the chariot, to help with cash flow. Horseville is formed.
750 AD - Akwesane formed, at the Babylon border.
770 AD - A new incense comes on line - It is immediately sold to Egypt for $21, world map and $6/turn. Science up to 20% and it makes a difference.
810 AD - Grand River is growing again :)
Summary - Make sure to CANCEL the Egypt deal after 20 turns.
After Forbidden palace completes in Paris, switch to regular Palace. Purely to queue up for the wonder rush time.
You have a settler heading toward the Babylon area. I see it going near the English cities.
You should see the Forbidden Palace come on line. I hope our science rate can increase from this.
Developer wanted - lots of irragation needed

Of course, at this rate the game may be over soon:crazyeyes
Divine Wind Jan 01, 2002, 08:33 AM OK, off I go, I'll report back as soon as I'm done - thanks for the chance. :egypt:
Divine Wind Jan 01, 2002, 10:39 AM I apologize in advance - I did not get to finish all my turns because the evil wife refuses to cooparate and let me play:(
A sweet wind blows over the Iroquios Nation carrying with it a new leader. Chief Divine Wind takes the reigns of a strong and emerging empire with an evil and foul smelling neighbor to the North.
Chief Divine Wind tells the citizens that the Babs are an evil race that eat their own children. He also tells them the English are not much better because they eat their children along with tea. He introduces a plan to isolate the two English cities on "our" continent - Dover and Liverpool by declaring war with the Babs and taking their city of Samarra. Then, once the smelly English are cut off the great mounted warriors can sweep in and take over their two cities.
This plan will be tough because the Babs are fairly strong. Much preparation needs to go into pulling this off so Chief Divine decides to build a work force that will be the envy to the rest of the world. This work force will build our cities up and create a road network for our glorious army use in their march towards the Babs and English.
820 AD - Salamaca builds a market to sell Iroquios goods such as fine weed and feathers. Workers are next on Salamaca's agenda.
Garsonia completes its aqueduct and starts on workers. Workers begin road network to connect Kish to rest of nation.
830 AD - Salamanca builds worker/starts another.
Niagra falls builds mean looking spearman, starts a marketplace.
Cornerville builds an impressive library that has multiple copies of The Lord of the Rings. Rest of nation is envious.
Tientsim is connected to the rest of the nation - many pipes are lit in celebration...
840 AD - more workers completed by Salamanca and Garsonia.
Cattarausus builds a library, starts a swordsman for defense since it's so close to the Babs (likely counter attack point).
Chief Divine Wind decides it's time to trade techs for money so that the Iroquios science rate can be increased. The slow learning Romans and English both agree to purchase Currency for their world maps and 8gp per turn. This allows the science rate to be increased by 10%, knocking 6 turns off the time it will take to reach Feudalism.
850 AD - not much - workers keep improving and building roads.
860 AD - The Babs offer a world map for world map trade. Chief Divine Wind tries to get more out of them for the deal. The Babs refuse so no map for them!
860 AD - Yeah! Road to Kish is complete - not it will be extended toward Bab nation as an invasion route to Samarra.
Salamanca begins a run of building mighty mounted warriors for the invasion.
Gasonia finishes worker, starts marketplace.
880 AD - Leeville builds courthouse, starts market.
Tanawanda builds worker, starts market.
More improvements made across nation - irrigation progressing nicely.
890 AD - Orleans finishes library, starts worker.
Cow pasture near Kendtertown is irrigated - city is now growing again. Cows and indians regoice.
900 AD - More mounted warriors moved into square outside of Kish - this will be launch pad of invasion.
Akwesasne builds a temple, starts a library.
910 - 920 AD - Chief Divine Wind offers the Republic to the Chinese in yet another move to get more income. The poor Chinese can ante up anything so they will have to suffer without Republic for some time to come.
Kish starts a barracks - this will be important because Kish will be the central city in our future war.
Well, time bit me in the butt and I left some things unfinished, namely my planned invasion of Bab. There are 4 mounted warriors in the launch square outside of Samarra. A few more and we should be able to take at least that city and hold off a Bab counter attack.
The two english cities are both size 2, so I cant see them being destroyed when we finally invade them. That being the case, I have not let the settler in Kish build outside of these towns (this may be a bad decision...). Plus the only available square whould really eat into Kish's squares, which is something I never have the guts to do The settler is still there and the next player can decide whether to have him found a city or just join Kish.
We are running at a slight deficit, but our coffers are at 611 gold with other marketplaces waiting to go online soon. The Forbidden Palace is still on track in Paris, only 3 turns away. The western half will be chugging once it's up because their infrastructure is in much better shape now. The Chines to the Northwest have not done much at all and I dont fear anything coming that way for now.
Basically it looks like we are in good shape to start a fightin'.
This is my first sucession game so I hope I did not mess things up too bad.:D Good luck to the next Chief!
cdub Jan 01, 2002, 11:23 PM I have downloaded and will post results in a few hours....
Divine Wind Jan 02, 2002, 04:02 AM Go get 'em Cdub:rocket2:
I'll be able to play nights for the rest of the week. I'll check in to see if there is another open slot.
cdub Jan 02, 2002, 05:35 AM Behold, King Cdub has risen to lead the Iroquios. Blood will turn the rivers red in the Northeast in the coming reign....
930 AD- King Cdub orders all mounted warriors and swordsman to file into stacks. The military council praises the bold desicion.
940 AD- A nation that Cdub was not aware of has been destroyed, the Zulu. Invasion groups are coming into place on the eastern front.
950 AD- King Cdub goes into negotiations with Cleopatra, we obtain her world map and ivory, The Great King gives up his world map, 20 gold, furs, and his phone number :) . Workers are being ordered across the land, a swordsman is produced.
960 AD- Our horse deal with England is renewed. The shrewd Queen of England pays her world map, 3 gold/turn, and 7 gold. King Cdubs new Forbidden Palace is constructed in Paris, the King decided this will be a good place to throw wild parties and play drunk driver with da brothas' . Feudalism is discovered, monotheism is ordered to be studied. Barracks and workers are being ordered across the land.
970 AD- Salamance produces a swordsman, Cdub decides that Sun Tzu's Art of War shall be constructed. The Great King gets in a military alliance with Rome against the Babylonians, we offer them Feudalism and 10 gold. The invasion of Babylon begins on all fronts (Babylon, Nineveh, Samara):soldier: .
980 AD- Two more military alliances are conjured up with the English and Chinese against the Babs for 75 gold and 50 gold respectively. The King's men capture Babylon and Nineveh :goodjob: . The plan is to starve the population then build them back up with Iroquios. 5 workers are captured for the great Iroquios in the battles.
990 AD- Paris constructs a mounted warrior, another is ordered. 3 market places are constructed, then 3 swordsman are ordered. Cdub hears from his generals that the Babylonian town of Samarra has been captured and razed! A settler has been sent to the newly aquired territory.
1000 AD- Monotheism is purchased off Cleopatra for 295 gold, Cdub was hoping this would score points with the lady :crazyeyes . Barracks are being constructed across the land.
1010 AD- Kenderton produces a mounted warrior, another is ordered. Comedian Galagher entertains the masses  .
1020 AD- Paris constructs a mounted warrior, marketplace is ordered. The Great King constructs the city of Cdub in Samarra's old location, a temple is to be constructed.
1030 AD- 2 swordsman, barracks, and a marketplace are constructed.
1040 AD- Galley constructed in St. Regis, swordsman are ordered, when they are complete they will sail about 5 squares west and sink :( King Cdub masses another invasion army of 9 mounted warriors to be sent towards Akkad.
1050 AD- 2 workers are constructed, the King is big on infrastructure this time around! Barracks and soldiers are also being produced. Akkad falls into our hands :goodjob: ! This city is to be starved, the Babylonians fear the Iroquios without a doubt.
1060 AD- Cleopatra and her people create the Great Lighthouse.
1070 AD- 2 libraries are constructed, swordsman, marketplace, and barracks are ordered. King Cdub attends to his herb garden on the side of his palace  .
1080 AD- Mauch Chunk creates a mounted warrior, marketplace in the works.
1090 AD- 3 swordsman are created, a barracks is constructed. 4 mounted warriors are ordered to be produced.
1100 AD- Temple constructed in Babylon, barracks are ordered. The galley that is about to sink next turn is loaded with the dead swordsman ;) . The invasion of Ur has begun.
1110 AD- Marketplace in Paris complete, a library is ordered. The attack on Ur is not successful, the next attack will surely take the city.
1120 AD- 2 workers are constructed. King Cdub's great scientists discover Chivalry, Engineering is ordered to be studied. Another large army lies just outside of Ur.
Well there are my 20 turns! To the next ruler--- Ur shall definitely fall in the next turn, you have plenty of military to pull it off. I have added 4 new cities to the great Iroqoius empire; Babylon, Nineveh, Akkad, and Cdub. I stacked most of our workers into large groups to get things done faster, I wonder why most others dont do this??? The infrastructure is improving immensely. I also produced barracks in a lot of cities- veteran units are soooo much nicer then regular units. Good Luck to whoever takes over...
Teemu Jan 02, 2002, 08:31 AM Im playing now.
Teemu Jan 02, 2002, 10:44 AM Ur was conquered 1140. Other cities got conquered soon too. Babylonias were destroyed 1200 AD. Same year city was built to where I razed one Babylonian city. I changed some barracks production to other because I believe that we get Sun Tzu's because now our capitol has very good production. Mayby we should keep peace now that we could develope some science. We have quite lot of troops. So we could also conquer some more.
Thiazi Jan 02, 2002, 11:48 AM I will take my turns now.
Thiazi Jan 02, 2002, 01:54 PM Something just came up and I won't be able to do my turns. Sorry, if I kept anyone waiting. I can play later on tonight but feel free to go ahead of me.

Salmanca can finish Sun Tzu's, Sistine Chapel or Leonardo's next turn, chose Leonardo's due to the future cost savings and rapid replacement of units, we already have barracks in most of the cities and there aren't too many more on our continent, Sistine Chapel was hard to turn down due to the culture but I really like the cheaper upgrade of units (we have alot of spearman and mounted warriors to upgrade)
1260AD
Salmanca completed Leonardo's, started Sistine (probably won't get it, 36 turns, but will have other wonders available)
Oil Springs completes Cathedral, starts worker, we need lots of infrastructure help
Hurried production of Temples in 7 cities that were acquired in last realm from Babs, need to get the culture borders filled in.

1305AD
Niagra Falls finished Knight, started another
Nineveh finished Cathedral, started Marketplace
St Regis completed Aqueduct, started Harbor
Centertown finished Pikeman, started another
Discovered Gunpowder, started working on Education (6 turns)
1310AD
Egypt wanted to cancel our Fur for Ivory trade, had to add 11 gold and 7 gold/turn to keep it, we don't have any other luxuries available to trade to us so they kinda got us over the barrel
Paris finished Pikeman, started on Knight
Traded Gunpowder to America for Education and 9 gold/turn
Traded Gunpowder to Japan for territory map, 14 gold and 2 gold/turn, both America and Japan are on another continent so don't mind trading them Gunpowder
Traded Education to India for world map, 30 gold and 10 gold/turn
Traded Education to England for world map, 12 gold and 16 gold/turn
Now researching Music Theory (7 turns) so we can go for JS Bach's, tried raising science % which cut discovery time to 5 turns but it will cost us 58 gold each turn (right now we are earning 51 gold/turn would go to deficit of 7/turn if raised)
We are still in much need of worker improvements, some cities are stagnant due to lack of food and some of the cities are still not hooked into the road network. The early part of the empire is in fairly good shape and I was moving the workers toward the new area but there is still much work to be done. We also need to upgrade the Mounted Warriors to Knights. I almost moved the research towards Astronomy and then Navigation so that we can start trading with the other continent, I will leave that decision to the next ruler. We have many excess furs and some incense that we can't currently trade that could be earning us some money. China is very weak, but England is probably the next target for expansion. I tried to get our infrastructure built up so that we would be better prepared for war.
I am resigning early, good luck to the next ruler. This was fun, I look forward to playing again.

LKendter Jan 02, 2002, 06:38 PM Downloaded and starting to play.
Well, this is where you can tell people have different game plans. I definitely would have went for Sistine Chappel. Not just the culture, but major help with unhappiness. I will try and get us Bach's Catherdral.
LKendter Jan 02, 2002, 09:27 PM Pre movement - Builder Lee turns off the unit animations - GACK!, switches Nineveh to Barracks, and start upgradeing units. I love desperate for world map - Rome gives $20 & $5/turn. I can't wait for Navigation and overseas trading.
1325 AD - Buy a Roman worker, we still have a lot of work to do on our land.
1335 AD - Tatung defects to us :) China finally loosens the purse strings, furs for $3/turn. Not much, but we have a lot of useless furs. We sell Rome World map for $20, then buy another worker for $27. I will take $7 workers anyday of the week.
1340 AD - Bach's Cathedral started in Salamanca. Palace begun in Garsonia to queue up for the trading company. China also gives us $3/turn for incense.
1345 AD - We are sorely lacking embassies. Establish one with Persia.
1350 AD - I general HATE trading tech this late, but our cash position really sucks. Sell Monotheism to China for $3 / $5 turn. Music theory to England for $40 and $14/turn. Montheism to Rome for $18 / $2 turn. Music Theory to America for $20 / $1 turn. Persia told to shove his worthless offer. Music Theory to India for $6 / $16 turn. Embassy with Egypt established. Thebes is building a granary with 9 extra food a turn :lol
1355 AD - End of the horses to England. Embassy with Japan.
1360 AD - The last of the embassies are established.
1365 AD to 1410 AD - Upgrading units, building infastructure.
Summary - Only 1 pikeman left to upgrade. Still need to upgrade 10 mounted warriors. Palace holding shields for the trading company. Finally have our needed embassies.

Thiazi Jan 02, 2002, 11:47 PM I'll take my turn now and I should actually be able to play them this time.
Thiazi Jan 03, 2002, 01:49 AM Wow, this is probably the most successful series of 20 turns that I have ever had and if I had jumped on the gun sooner, it could have been even better. Anyway, I decided that it was time to get rid of the British, with Chinese and Romans next on the queue and we now have the British down to four cities. Three of which are on our continent and the other, Brighton, is located elsewhere. We can take out the three cities on our continent and then extort a king’s ransom. We also now have the Great Leader Shenandoah, I was not sure what to do with him, possible form an army of Calvary when we get military tradition or hurry a wonder, either way he is located in New Castle and the next player can decide how best to use him. We currently have a right of passage with the Romans but that should expire within the next 10 or so turns, though we don’t need it any more. The Brits are really feeling the heat and we should be able to get them down to one island settlement in 5 turns.
1410: The Emperor Thiazi takes the throne and pledges that we will soon have our continent to ourselves. We first sell theology to the Romans for their world map, 3 gold per turn and 40 gold. We buy furs from the Egyptians for furs, 10 gold per turn and 68 gold; it is still cheaper than raising the luxury rates.
1415: We begin to mobilize our army in preparation for war with the English. The Indians have declared war on the Americans! America offers us their territory map for our territory map and we happily oblige. Our scholars have discovered economics and will now focus their attention on chemistry.
1420: We are still in preparation for war and we make great strides in improving our valued infrastructure!
1425: India asks us for an alliance against the Americans and a right of passage agreement but we respectfully turn their offer down. We are about to start our own war and frankly we don’t even have near the naval force to fight a cross continental war. Navy should be a focus for our next leader but my main focus was on war.
1430: The English city of Dover has been capture; we also capture one worker!
1435: The English cities of Liverpool, Oxford, Uruk as well as many workers have been captured! We exchange a right of passage agreement with Rome, to help speed up the war effort.
1440: The English city of New Castle is captured!
1445: The English sustain heavy troop loss but no new conquests have been made.
1450: We sell education to the Romans for chemistry, territory map and 11 gold. We have completed the grand J.S. Bach’s Cathedral in Salamanca!
1455: We sell music theory to the Romans for world map, 10 gold per turn and 30 gold.
1460 – 1470: Our soldiers regroup and prepare for the second wave of the war.
1475: In the Battle of Hastings the Great Leader Shenandoah emerges; he is sent back to New Castle for the next leader to use. I would personally use him to make an army of Calvary but it will be your discretion. Indian and America have signed a peace treaty.
1480: Our valiant soldiers have captured Hastings and its 4 workers! We give Egypt our world map as a pledge of good will.
1485: The English metropolis of Coventry falls to the lances of Iroquois knights!
1490: Our scholars have discovered metallurgy and will now focus their attention on military tradition. The English city of York has been captured!
1495: Troop mobilization and the English sustain more losses.
1500: Persia demands metallurgy and since they apparently have a larger army than us and since we would be unable to fight a war with them, we agree to their demands. We will not forget their greediness and they will soon pay tenfold for this discovery.
1505: The English capital of London falls and our troops are on the move once again. The British have three cities remaining on our continent; we will then be able to extort a few loose techs and huge sums of money from them. Good luck to the next leader of the Iroquois nation and remember we have a “virgin” Great Leader in New Castle.
Divine Wind Jan 03, 2002, 03:24 AM Quick question - I've seen it done a few times in this game. How do you buy workers from other civs?
Also, good news, SNOW in the city of Richmond today! For a southern city, it's a BIG deal. I may not have to go to work today :goodjob:
Thiazi Jan 03, 2002, 03:47 AM Whenever a civilization has a worker garrisoned in a city that is connected to its capital other civilizations will have a chance to buy them in the diplomacy menu. It doesn’t happen too often and if you don’t check every few turns, you will miss the few opportunities that you have at buying workers.
LKendter Jan 03, 2002, 05:36 AM I am playing :smoke: :smoke:
Well I learned the South is bails quickly on snow in this country.
Charollote, NC closing down over a what I would consider light snowfall in Quakertown, PA.
Of course, the office closing today does let me play a round.:goodjob:
However, I am a contractor who doesn't get paid for a snow day:cry:
LKendter Jan 03, 2002, 08:47 AM Lee the builder II takes over. It is good for our people, as the message to use Garsonia for Smith's trading company was lost. ARGGGGGGG! Garsonia switches to the trading company, and Salamanca to University at a cost of 30 shields.
China gets Banking (we almost have the trading company), as I want printing press +$5. I squeeze a little more for furs. $1/turn less, but get $40 lump sum.
England will talk if War Weariness gets to bad.
Rome is still a waste for trading.
Egypt gets Metallugry and $90 to for Democracy. Give Egypt Incense for Astronomy. They STILL have 2 techs above us.
American price for Navigation to high.
Persia / Japan / - Still can't trade luxuries with.
India gets Incense for Navigation, then Metallurgy / World Map for $275.
I got us even with the other Civs and tech
I cancel several worker projects, I never mine plains. I cancel forest clear by Paris, it sucks for production, and has a large amount of excess food.
1510 AD - America declares war on the Persians. I up Luxuries to 20%, war is causing us major problems. The last stray mounted warriors are upgraded to Knights.
1515 AD - Phony war.
1520 AD - Smith's trading company completed. Gold from +10 to +48 a turn. More phony war.
1525 AD - I laugh, as English lands a dead Longbowman by Cdub. Canterbury falls. Give Persia furs for $14 and $7/turn. Japan furs for $7 and $2/turn.
1530 AD - Positioning for the kill, I hope.
1535 AD - Nottingham falls. We control that nice silk supply. Warwick also falls. Peace treaty signed with England.
1540 AD - Infastructure.
1545 AD - Trading. Econmics -> Rome for $10/turn and $30. Silks -> Persia for $16 and $2/turn. Miltary Tradition -> India (I don't care about helping the other continent) for Free Artistry, World Map, and $57. The warmongers will hate me, but Shakespeares thearte is rushed.
1550 AD - Rush build Nothingham temple, so that the other silk falls within our border.
1555 AD - Revolution.
1560 AD - We are now a Democracy.
Summary - You have a large stack of Calvary. A large amount of Musketman heading toward ex-England for occupation duties. That road to Newcastle need to finish. It takes forever to send units toward ex-England right now.
The settler in Corniville is for the ice island south of it. That could turn out to be an oil source. First build for Icetown is a temple

Thiazi Jan 03, 2002, 01:07 PM I will take my next set of turns now
Thiazi Jan 03, 2002, 03:34 PM 1570: In an effort to make sure that England remains an island civilization, at least until we decided to send forces there, we trade world maps with England. Luckily, they still consist of Brighton and Brighton alone. We trade free artistry, which is more or less a dead end tech to the Romans for their world map, 29 gold per turn and 20 gold.
1575: We begin mobilization to take out the Chinese. We plan to hit them at three places at once and this should minimize their ability to counter attack.
1580: The Chinese cities of Tsing-Tao, Xinjian and Chengdu are captured. Tsing-Tao, a size 9 city, was guarded by a solitary spearman.
1585: Troop movement.
1590: The Chinese cities of Nanking and Shanghai are captured but Shanghai is quickly recaptured.
1595: our forces recapture Shanghai. We have discovered magnetism and we will now focus our attention on steam power. The luxury rate is raised to 20% to curb civil unrest.
1600: The island city of Oka is founded. The Chinese city of Beijing is captured.
1605: America offers their territory map for our territory map, we accept. The Chinese city of Canton is captured.
1610: We make peace with China, which is now a few scattered soldiers and a settler on a boat. I wish in the next patch that a single settler in the boat would not mean the civilization is still alive. In the peace treaty we get their world map and territory map.
1615: We sell free artistry to Japan for their world map, 11 gold per turn and 40 gold. We Love the Chief Day is celebrated nearly everywhere.
1620: America and Persia sign a peace treaty.
1625: We buy China’s territory map for our territory map.
1630: We sell silks to India for 23 gold per turn. We sell furs to India for 18 gold per turn. We sell silks to Japan for 16 gold per turn. We sell incense to Persia for 26 gold per turn. We sell silks to the Americans for 11 gold per turn. We sell incense to Egypt for 36 gold per turn. In retrospect I should have tried to acquire luxuries that we do not already have but I did infuse a ton of money into our nation. Wall Street is complete in Niagara Falls.
1635 – 1640: Infrastructure improvements and mass hurrying project.
1645: The science rate is raised to 60% and Newton’s University is built in Salamanca.
1650: Egypt and Rome sign a MPP, we may need to eventually take on these civilizations but I would probably wait until we have a more modernized army, though we can probably wipe out the Romans now but frankly I have done way too much fighting during my past few reigns. We have mastered steam power and will now focus our attention on medicine. The Hanging Gardens are now obsolete.
1655: Magellan’s Voyage complete in Grand River.
1660 – 1665: A relatively quiet time.
In earnest I have begun our railroad project but this will be a massive undertaking and we will probably still need to continue our jingle deforestation as well. The Egyptians have nationalism but they are charging an arm and a leg for it, so I would probably either research it after we do medication and sanitation or just bite the bullet and pay the massive upfront cost. We are now the number one ranked civilization in the world and we may want to look into demolishing what is left of China and England. Also, we completed 3 wonders and it looks like we could be in a position to pick our victory condition.
LKendter Jan 03, 2002, 03:44 PM Well I will play a few more rounds of my game.
Once again, it look like I need to build military defense units to solidfy our gains.
LKendter Jan 04, 2002, 11:09 PM Lee the builder III is back. Again, like his father, his job it to garrision the recently conquered cities with good defensive units. This time, we add building a railnet.
We check all the possible trade, and give Japan Incense for $22/turn. Furs to India for $30/turn.
1695 AD - A significant event - Get Nationalism from India for Medicine. They even throw in $18 and world map. On the other hand, a MP with Rome?
1700 AD - Persia declares war on America.
1725 AD - Salamanca begins Universal suffrage - eta = 20 turns.
Up next, someone who likes moving workers and building rails.
Summmary - We still need to start upgrading our units to Rifleman. I improved our railnet a lot, but plenty of work left.
I don't know what happened to my post from 1/3/02? Reposting again.
Go ahead a move somebody
Edit - deleted attachments to save space.
Thiazi Jan 04, 2002, 11:53 PM I'll take the next set of turns and do some of the infrastructure improvement that is needed. I've done a lot of the fighting and it is time for me to do some of the less notable work. After that I will take a few turns off and hopefully, we will have some more players step in.
Thiazi Jan 05, 2002, 04:07 AM 1730: Trade territory maps with China to make sure that they don’t go crazy and try to build a settler. I upgraded half of our musket men to riflemen; the other upgrades will require barracks. Egypt offers us a MPP but I decline.
1735-1752: Infrastructure improvements.
1754: We exchange territory maps with America. Our scientists have discovered electricity and will now research sanitation.
1756: Traded medicine to Rome for world map, 54 gold per turn and 90 gold. Traded medicine to Egypt for world map, 36 gold per turn and 140 gold. Traded medicine to America for 25 gold per turn and 30 gold. Traded medicine to Japan for world map, 22 gold per turn and 50 gold. Science raised to 70%.
1758-1760: Infrastructure improvements.
1762: Our scientists discover sanitation and will now focus their attention on replaceable parts. Science lowered back to 50%; we need the money for upgrades and so we can wait a turn or two to get the tech.
1764: Infrastructure improvements.
1766: We swap territory maps with Japan.
1768-1772: Infrastructure improvements.
1774: Trade silks to America for 10 gold per turn.
1776: Universal Suffrage complete in Salamanca. Our scientists have discovered replaceable parts and start on the scientific method. Musket men and riflemen upgraded to infantry.
1778-1782: Infrastructure improvements.
1784: Battlefield Medicine is being built in Paris (11 turns).
I accidentally played two more turns than my allotted 20 turns but they were relatively boring and our railroad project is almost complete. Our infrastructure is now very advance and we have multiple sources of most key resources; including rubber. We built Universal Suffrage in Salamanca and we are now building Battle Field Medicine in Paris. I also modernized our defense and we now have around 80 infantry and a few spare units that we will need to upgrade after their respective cities have barracks. I also built several factories, power plants and hospitals and we are well on our way to becoming a major industrialized nation. I didn’t spend time on building offensive military, since I figured we are waiting for tanks and mechanized infantry but I expanded our navy and just about everything else. The next leader should continue the infrastructure work, try to get ahead of Egypt in the tech race (they are 1 or 2 turns ahead of us and refuse to trade) and if infantry work well on offense, then invade someone, maybe Egypt but be aware they have an MPP with Rome.
Teemu Jan 05, 2002, 06:43 AM I'm playing now.
Teemu Jan 05, 2002, 08:22 AM I couldn't play many rounds.
1788 AD I found galley of Chineses. I attacked it and destroyed it and Chinese were destroyed. But Civ3 fell because of that and I loaded game. Their Galley is on East side of continent and there is our ironclad next to it. Romans declared war. Those fools.
1790
We have lot of cavalry and infantry and railroads to everywhere so I captured couple Roman cities ( Vironicum and some other) and destroyed their troops. I hadn't time to finish this round so wake every cavalry and attack them. Infantry are also good. Mayby we have to end this war soon because they have some riflemen and they have 6 defense and our best offense units Cavalry and Infantry have only 6. You can build more cavalry so that we could get the continent totally ours. You should build theory of evolution somewhere. Try to chance espionage and communism from Egypt and India so that we can get something really good from theory of evolution.
Teemu Jan 05, 2002, 08:24 AM Try to change every technology what we can before you get theory of evolution complete. You can decide where to build it. I hadn't time to start build it.
LKendter Jan 05, 2002, 08:38 AM I will play a handfull of turns for this one.
LKendter Jan 05, 2002, 12:50 PM 1790 AD (continued) - Cancel Coal plant production. The pollution from them isn't worth it. I want to wait for Hoover Dam. Electronics is queued up for Science. We still gain money, so science at 60%. I take advantage of the wonders of our rail net, and swap rifleman and musketman around so that we can finish the upgrades.
1792 AD - I order the Chinnese to leave, and they do. Killed some Roman units, but no decisive battles.
1794 AD - No decisive battles, but more dead Roman units costing us nothing. Perform a round of trading. Sell maps to multiple countries, Furs > America $7 turn, I am happy to see India needs coal. :)
1796 AD - We suffer our first causalty of my reign, 1 dead calvary. Mostly dead Romans.
1798 AD - China sign a trade embargo against us. Oh no, Mr. Bill. Rome steals a couple of workers, I think we can handle the loss. Well we control the island of ice now, as Byzantium falls. We get a great leader - Corn Planter! Now doesn't name invoke fear?
1800 AD - Persia tries to get us to join the war against America, no way Joe. :crazyeyes Here is the ULTIMATE joke. England wants a MPP. :crazyeyes :crazyeyes I hate to give the Americans Steam power, but we need the spices to reduce the War Weariness effects. Cancel furs and silks to Japan for cash. Make it we give furs, silks, $150 for wines to further combat War Weariness. We capture Ravenna at the cost of 1 calvary.
1802 AD - ARGGG! Egypt renogiates Ivory, and have to give them furs and $775. What the -- Ravenna recaputed by a long bowman? Of course, it was captured with a one hit Calvary (dead). The luxury trading paid off - We are getting WLKPD. We capture Ravenna again, but weak for defense again.
1804 AD - So much for the end of War Weariness :( Our veteran swordsman defends against a rifleman and becomes elite! Battlefield medicine is completed. What the -- Coventry culture flips to England? You have got to be kidding.
1806 AD - What a mess. Japan declares war on us because of an MPP with England. We claim Conventry back. Again forced to give away tech - Replacable parts to India for Wines, $11 /turn and $4.
1808 AD - Hangchow falls.
1810 AD - The moment I was waiting for - Theory of Evolution is completed. :) We get Communism and Espinoage. Intelligence agency started in Salamanca. Hispalis falls - This is the city I wanted - Another coal source. Peace with Rome - Wet get Pisae and some money. Despite ToE - Egypt still has tech we don't have.
Summary - Watch in India trade deal. I don't want to keep giving them coal.
All of our cities, except the recent capture from Rome have 2 inf each. Keep building some inf for the captured cities.
War Weariness is really hurting us - I thought if war was declared on you it wasn't supposed to be that bad!
2 galleons are heading toward the coast by England. Time to get rid of this waste of time once and for all.
The great leader is in Salamanca - I saved him to rush Hoover dam and the hugh boast to our production.
I can't play again until at least Monday - chance for some other players to go.
Edit - deleted attachments to save space.
Readylander Jan 05, 2002, 01:10 PM I have downloaded and will give this game another go.
Readylander Jan 05, 2002, 04:37 PM Oops, posted my big long narrative twice by mistake.
Readylander Jan 05, 2002, 04:42 PM After surveying the current state of our nation I decide that my first objectives will be to wipe out the Chinese, then the English and to continue to build our infrastructure and military. If time permits I will take on Rome again. America might be a better target though. There are spices and dyes that would be fairly easy to capture and we would have better access to India which might need to be a future target.
1812AD
Two Indian frigates and galleys sighted off the northwest coast.
Rome asks us to leave their territory or declare war, I choose to leave.
Most cities are celebrating We Love the Chief Day.
Decide it is time to get rid of the Chinese once and for all. They aren't in MPP with anyone. Hispalis still has one resisting citizen so it will be perfect for my little maneuver. I move the military units out of the city and give the city to China. Then I declare war and sink that pesky galley off our east coast and sink it. Bye, bye last Chinese settler. Our cavalry have no problems with the lone spearman defending Hispalis. We did lose one citizen and the barracks in Hispalis, but there are no more resisting citizens and the Chinese are wiped off the map.
I rush temples in some of the cities recently acquired.
I dropped the entertainment to 10%, the lack of war weariness has made this possible. I raise the science to 60% which cuts a few years off our time until Electronics and the Hoover Dam.
1814AD
I start factories in some of our oldest cities so that they will be able to exploit the Hoover Dam that is coming in just 7 more years.
Took a look at our outstanding trades.
Persia now paying 44/turn for furs, they were paying 7/turn
Persia now paying 35/turn for silks, they were paying 2/turn, that seemed to max out there available income for now :)
Egypt now paying 47/turn for incense, they were paying 2/turn
India now paying 56/turn for incense, up from 16/turn
India now paying 46/turn for silks, up from 23/turn, they seem to be running low on income now :)
I bump the science rate another 10% and cut one more year off our time to Electronics, I really want the Hoover Dam!!! We still are running a surplus of 47/turn.
1816AD
Egypt offers their world map for our world map and Atomic Theory. Get out of here Cleo!! I instead give her a gift of 5 gold which raises her attitude from annoyed to cautious.
Fairly quiet, more production switched to infrastructure, worker orders concentrated on getting main cities fully improved.
1818AD
Another quiet year, lots of worker movements. I really wish the automated worker instructions were better and we could just automate these buggers.
1820AD
2 galleons loaded with troops and headed towards England's last city.
1822AD
Rome and England sign a trade embargo against us.
1824AD
We discover Electronics, turn our research towards The Corporation, able to drop the science rate substantially and still get that one in four turns.
Salamanca will complete Intelligence Agency next turn then I will rush the Hoover Dam there with our great leader.
The Japanese have 3 frigates and a galley off our northeast coast, not concerned because our military is in decent shape.
1826AD
Intelligence Agency completed, changed to Hoover Dam and rushed it.
Traded Incense and Industrialization to Persia for Dyes and 14 gold/turn.
Took England's last city with not losses to us.
I am stepping down early. The game is really slow right now due to all the worker movements that you have to make.
I will leave it to the next leader to decide if you want to sue for peace with Japan. Good luck.

LKendter Jan 05, 2002, 05:46 PM Readylander - Great trick with the China.
I was getting tired of telling him to move his troops.
Good ridance to England - After the flip with Conventry, I knew it was time to get rid of him.
I agree, lots of workers right now. What is unreal - We still have a lot of Jungle to clear out.
Maybe you didn't play a lot of turns, but they were usefull. ;)
The job for the next player - build some settlers, and get a foothold on the other continent. If nothing else, the spot with Coal and 3 spices looks great.
Readylander Jan 05, 2002, 11:17 PM lkendter,
Thanks.
Since I only got to play 8 turns I am going to play a few more now that I have some more time.
I hadn't even noticed that America had been pretty much wiped out. I will get some settlers over there right away.
Readylander Jan 06, 2002, 03:13 AM 1826AD
Changed production in Paris and Leeville to settler.
1828AD
Paris to produce another settler, it is maxed out on space so only giving up a scientist.
Negotitated peace with Japan, got wmap and 2 gold/turn from them.
Hurried production of temple in Brighton, need to get the borders expanded so no one gets a city squeezed onto the other end of this island.
1830AD
Landed a settler on the former America area with the spices. Lots of other civs are moving into this area. Hope to settle a city next turn.
1832AD
Completed research of The Corporation, studying refining next so that we can see where the oil is. Raised science up to 70% so we will get refining in 4 turns. Now running a 4 gold/turn deficit but over 3,000 gold in treasury so we are OK. Keeping the cash to rush improvements on the new continent.
Readyland founded on the new continent right in the middle of the 3 spices and the coal. Landed the other settler on the new continent, will try to found a city next turn next to the dyes, but other civs may beat us to it. I have one more settler waiting to be shipped over and I will try to found a city on the shore between the two new cities.
1834AD
Persia destroyed the last American city.
Our palace is expanded. Why are we only building the second story at this point in time?
Trade silks to Japan for 32 gold/turn, trade them furs for another 32 gold/turn and for incense they give us 39 gold/turn.
Founded Munith on the new continent, will get dyes when our borders expand. I think I would have lost out if I had waited another turn to get right next to the dyes.
Rushed temple in Readyland.
1836AD
Our palance is again expanded, I guess we are making up for lost time.
Rushed temple in Munith.
1838AD
St Thomas founded on the shores of the new continent.
Refining will be discovered next turn so I turned down the science rate to maximize the income on this last turn.
Well that is enough for me for now. I spent alot of time with worker movements again. We have so much darn jungle to clear out that it is a slow process. Our main cities are in pretty good shape but will need to be revisited when they start to reach sizes where they are working all the available squares.
Check the trades with India, our agreement to trade them coal should run out next turn. Don't renew this agreement. There is a settler in St Thomas for founding another city, maybe up near that field of dyes? I have gathered the spare cavalry in Kendtertown, the spare infantry in Paris and the spare artillery in Oil Springs. I was preparing for war with Rome but I will leave that decision to the next leader. We won't gain any new resources by capturing Rome's cities but it will give us our entire continent and there is one Roman city over on the Egyptian continent that would be nice to have in case we have a war with Egypt in the future.
Good luck.
[EDIT] Deleted attachment to save disk space
Teemu Jan 06, 2002, 05:32 AM I'm playing now.
Teemu Jan 06, 2002, 08:14 AM 1840 AD we compleeted refining. We had 5 oil sources now we have 4 because 1 decayed even when I didn't have made any oil units. Started to invent Steel.
1842 AD Ravenna changed side to Romans and I started war. Currently our war weariness is very heavy. Mayby we should change to communism because we are religious.
1842 AD found new city next to dyes on other continent.
Started to invent Combustion. Some cities are starving because I changed some people to entertainers. Mayby we should get peace or change communism. Cities need some managing after this war. I ended coal deal with Indians. I destroyed many frigates whit artillery and ironclads,
Thiazi Jan 06, 2002, 11:56 AM I'll see what I can do with the war effort but I will stop after the war, since I have no experoence what-so-ever with city tinkering.
Thiazi Jan 06, 2002, 12:36 PM I checked the game and it is way beyond my level of expertise. I would suggest that we mobolize our economy so we can get the extra military production and if possible we should try to get the advance for tanks. We can probably take one or two Roman cities with all of the calvary that we have but tanks would make life a lot more liveable. Good luck to anyone who can handle these turns and I'm sorry that I couldn't help out this time.
Readylander Jan 06, 2002, 02:04 PM Just took a quick look at the current state of the game and have a few suggestions:
To address the war weariness:
1. Trade for wine and/or gems, more luxuries will help appease the masses. I would reccomend paying gold/turn for the luxuries as we are in such a good financial position. We are also now leading everyone in science and I wouldn't reccomend giving up that advantage if possible.
2. Then raise the entertainment %, it is currently at 10% and we are making over 300 gold/turn with a 5,000 gold treasury. We can even run at a slight deficit for awhile and still be OK. If really necessary the science % could be dropped 10 or 20% until peace is achieved.
As to the war with Rome:
1. Rome won't currently talk to us. You'll need to get them on the defensive to get them to talk, I believe.
2. Use combined forces to take at least on more city. Stack up some cavalry, infantry and artillery and move the stack up next to one of the cities. Use the artillery to bombard the defenders so their down to one bar left apiece and then attack with the cavalry. The infantry will defend the stack as you move it and will then be used to defend the city. While bombarding you probably will also reduce the size of the city which will be helpful if you can get it below 7 because then their defenders won't get the bonus strength for city size. Reducing the city size will also help in keeping the city from revolting later. And while bombarding you might take out their barracks which is always helpful. After taking a city or two, if you need to sue for peace try to get them to give you one or both of the offshore cities. Then we can wait until we have tanks and a better navy to take the rest of the Roman empire.
We certainly have the production and scientific advantage over Rome at this point so if now isn't quite the right time to finish them off we will get there shortly.
Hopefully someone will give this game a try. It looks to be a decent challenge and a good learning experience.
Thiazi Jan 06, 2002, 03:25 PM ReadyLander, I'll follow your suggestions and give these turns another go.
Thiazi Jan 06, 2002, 06:40 PM 1850: Economy mobilized to speed up the war effort. Luxuries raised to 20% to reduce war weariness. I looked into trading for gems and wines, the two luxuries that we lack but the other nations wanted too much for them. I could have gotten them from India for steel but I wasn’t keen on loosening our technology lead. We definitely won’t be able to win via UN, so we have to leave all other victory conditions open.
1852: Roman City of veil, which was founded near one of our rubber sources captured and razed. Roman city of Pompeii captured. We lost two galleons and some workers.
1854: War.
1856: Rome captured! Science raised to 60%. Ironclad sunk 3 Roman galleons. Lutetia captured and another Roman galleon is sunk.
1858: Spent approximately 1,000 rushing projects in America. Rome declares war on India! We lose more workers.
1860: Antium captured and we recapture 3 workers.
1862: Neapolis captured. India asks us for an MPP, I try to get some luxuries out of the deal, they refuse, so I do not accept the MPP. We have now begun research of combustion; I did not right down the tech that we finished.
1864: War.
1866: We lost a galleon full of infantry and artillery heading towards the Roman settlement on Egypt.
1868: We sell Incense to Persia for 15 gold per turn; I should have tried to get wines from them. Japan and Egypt agree to a MPP. We may want to look into an MPP with India, just so it isn’t us against the world but we can survive alone.
1870: We lost another galleon full of troops… I love how a Roman galleon with 1 health can attack a veteran galleon and manage to sink it… oi vey.
1872: Lugdunum captured and with that the Romans are gone. They are the fifth civilization to perish, all of which have fallen to our steel. We have troops amassed at Pisae and Pompeii; you should bus them over to Egypt so if they cause any problems we will be prepared. Science was raised to 70% but should be turned down after the next turn; it will get you the next tech in your first turn. We should then go for mass production and my preference would then be motorized transport but that will be your prerogative.
Readylander Jan 07, 2002, 01:22 PM Downloading, I will play some turns.
Readylander Jan 07, 2002, 05:42 PM 1872AD
Set city governors to manage happiness. (They do a pretty good job and that is just too much micromanagement, even for me)
Renegotiated some trades:
Silks to Persia - 35/turn, now 40/turn, maxed out their income, will wait a couple turns to renegotiate the fur trade
Incense to Egypt - was at 47/turn, she wasn't interested in that or our silks
Furs to India, was at 30/turn, now at 67/turn
Silks to India, was at 46/turn, now at 67/turn
1874AD
India and Egypt sign MPP
Combustion research completed, chose Flight (5 turns) next so we can get some airports build, then will go for Mass Production
Reveiwed production orders in all cities. All recently acquired cities I rushed temples, if we don't have some culture our borders will never expand and they might revolt to another civ.
We have a huge military force, will only produce artillery and destroyers at this time. I will also upgrade our galleons to transports. I will move our forces around to ensure all of our cities are defended by at least two infantry, except for some interior cities will have only one. I will station artillery in cities likely to be hit in an invasion. I will move some of our spare forces over to the other two continents in case we are attacked. Egypt has me worried a bit with not wanting our luxuries and signing the MPP with India.
Japan is in sad shape financially, tried to renegotiate our trade agreements with them and they were only able to offer a lesser amount for one of the items. For the other two I got some wine plus I had to throw in some cash. But I lowered our entertainment % to 10 from 20 which saved just about 200 gold/turn.
Renegotiated Incense to India deal, was 54/turn, now 67/turn.
Concentrated workers on improving our core cities, some are working all of the available squares, converting irrigation to mines in those cities to limit growth, also trying to get the last of the jungle cut down in cities that will actually produce more than one sheild.
1876AD
Palace is expanded!!
Producing settlers in three cities to fill in the gaps created by the Roman cities destroyed, we will never get our culture borders to totally fill that area up there and I don't want any other civ building a city up there. I have troops stationed along the coasts to prevent this until the cities are founded.
1878AD
Boring, infrastructure building.
1880AD
Japan wanted to trade their wmap for our wmap and steel, I declined, gave them 5 gold instead.
Traded incense to Egypt for 52/turn
Traded silks to Egypt for 52/turn
One of the Persian trade agreements can be renegotiated but their look to be in bad economic shape so I'm not going to risk getting a lower price, getting 44/turn now.
Turned down the science rate to 50%, we will still get flight in 5 turns.
Founded Gandasetaigon and Ganogeh, two of the cities to fill in the old Roman area, started Temples in both.
1882AD
Founded Gayagaahe, the former Roman area will be all filled up when the first border expansion happens.
Hurried the temples in the two cities founded last turn.
Another boring year of worker movements.
1884AD
Persia and India have signed a MPP
Discovered Flight, Mass Production is only 4 turns away after bumping science 10%
Switched production in the 8 highest producing cities to airports, they will all be done in less than 4 turns. Also switched production in one city on the Indian/Persian continent and our one city on the Egyptian continent to airports and rushed both. We will be in good shape to get forces to where they are needed as soon as some of the transports are moved to better locations. We have a couple more moving into St Regis to be ready to invade India if needed. We could also use some over on our East Coast to invade the Japanese/Persian continent.
I have grown weary of the worker movements and will allow the next leader to take over. We are in good shape. We have the tech lead, but Egypt is close behind us. We have a surplus of 265 gold/turn, techs are coming in 4 turns, our treasury is at 1,940. Tanks are less than 10 turns away. Our core cities are in really good shape.
We can't win a 100,000 cultural victory due to Egypt's high culture. But maybe we can get our capital to 20,000, we are at 11,297 now, adding 71 per turn, so that is about 120 turns away. But I am sure we will get more wonders in that city. Our relationship with other civs is not great so I bet we can't win a diplomatic victory unless we can turn them around shortly. But we should focus on getting the UN built as soon as possible so no one else gets it. Other than that we can win anyway we want, I believe, as long as we are careful and protect ourselves well if all the other civs gang up on us. The other civs have MPP's going on, I didn't enter any because it always seems that as soon as I do I am dragged into a war. I think we would be wise to wait until after getting tanks to go to war. We are close and we can crank em out with our core cities.
I fortified our extra forces in Paris (Infantry), Oil Springs (Artillery), and Kendertown (Cavalry). I find it easier to know what forces I have available when I organize them this way.
Good luck to the next leader.

This is why I had the leader rush Shakespeare's theartere. I always like that as a standy.
I am going to play a few turns here.
We should prepare for either Cultural (20000) or space race. I can't see domination / conquest with how little time is left.
UN = NO way. Our relationships aren't good enough to pull that off. However, we want to BUILD it!
LKendter Jan 07, 2002, 09:32 PM Well I have learned my lesson -
Large maps just are to much for an anyone plays game.
Of course, it is already 1884 :)
Man has this world changed - There just 5 civs left out of 12!
Dead = China (us), England (us), Rome (us), Babylon (us), America (Persia & ?), France (us - VERY early, but very key), and Zulu (Persia / India).
I cancel furs for Ivory, and instead take $42/turn from Egypt. I want to drain there budget.
India and Egypt both have hugh cultural scores - 100,000 pt culture is out.
Maybe 20000 pt super culture city, or space race.
Domination - Possible, but we need an awful lot of cities.
1
1886 - Worker movement overload. Start troop movement to Lugdunum. Oh no, we are doomed. The Egyptians have war charioits :lol
2
1888 - Lot more land development, and more troops toward Lugdunum.
3
1890 - Repeat, adding bombers to Lugdunum. Make a easy decision - Motorized Transportation.
4
1892 - Why to I feel like I just did this?
5
1894 - Well war does start, but with Persia? Chondote falls and razed  I am not surprised that it fell. An awful lot of Calvary hit it. Munith holds - lost 1 inf, but several Persian calvary die. How much Calvary does Persia have? Throw away some shields, but St. Thomas builds walls. This will be our main base for the war. The couple of Calvary we have, kill 2 Persian Calvary.
Up next - A warmonger!
I give you -
1 - Lots on Bombers in St. Thomas.
2 - Walls to help protect the Bombers.
3 - Transports with a lot of Calvary 1 turn from St. Thomas.
4 - Another stack of Transports by Lutetia, mostly artillery.
5 - A ally in Japan at the cost of Refining.
6 - The challenge, space race is also getting close. I would resverve Salamance for wonders and space parts at 80+ shields a turn.
Research Fission next, and build up shields for the UN in Salamance (80+ shields). We would probably LOSE the vote. I want us to control the voting.
Edit - deleted attachments to save space.
LKendter Jan 08, 2002, 08:29 PM Wanted - A warmonger!
Kill the Persians!
Remember, anyone plays
Arathorn Jan 10, 2002, 12:45 PM Well, heavens! Nobody's done this for a few days??? I was more than a bit intimidated by the post if you can play within 4 hours on opening message, but I guess that's gone out the window, huh?
I've not participated in any succession games before, but this looks like a fun thing to try. If I don't hear any objection, I'm gonna take the next ~20 turns and play them in the next 24 hours or so. I'll post Friday.
Wish me luck!
LKendter Jan 10, 2002, 04:12 PM Arathorn,
Go for it. I hope you are use to war.
At this point the 4 hours turn around isn't realistic. However, I still want a max of 24 hours.
Arathorn Jan 11, 2002, 07:17 AM as told by Royal Historian Arathorn
[Peanut Gallery (PG): "Royal Historian? But we're a democracy." Royal Historian (RH): "Well.... it's an old title. A carry-over from earlier years." PG: "But were we ever a monarchy?" RH: "Just shut up!"]
0 - 1894 - Loopey ascended to the throne [PG: "Throne?" RH: "Fine! Seat of power suit you better?" PG: "Yes, quite."] -- seat of power -- in 1894. He was ruler of VAST tracts of land, more land than he really felt he needed. Plus, he had a huge military force.
A misplaced military force at that. He summoned his advisors. "Why do we have multiple infantry units defending completely interior cities?" They muttered something about previous policy. "Ludicrous! If forces can actually land on our continent and survive long enough to get to one of our internal cities, a couple infantry aren't gonna make much difference. Ship 'em out!" With that, the great airlift campaign began, with infantry pouring into St. Thomas from the skies. Too few airports exist on Iriquois mainland, so multiple air units were discarded in favor of airports.
In international affairs, Japan captured the previously Egyptian city of This, which was later raised by Persian forces. India and Egypt both declared war on Japan. A bloodbath ensued, with the Persian cavalry near Munith attacking someone else. Multiple cities completed multiple project and began many new projects -- too many to categorize. [PG: "What? No detailed report." RH: "I tried. Honestly. But after the first ten, I just couldn't care any more!"] Pollution and the cancelling of "We love the Chief Day" were rampant. [PG: "First, Royal, now Chief! What's up with that?" RH: "Oh, shut up, will ya?!"]
1 - 1896 - Loopey decides on a policy of unit elimination, while trying to avoid attacking the Persians on Persian soil. Loopey doesn't want the Persian MPP with India triggered any earlier than it has to be. Bombing begins, units are unloaded from transports, artillery move into position outside Detroit but do not fire. A good dozen Persian cavalry are eliminated, with a few archers/immortals/riflemen/spearmen thrown in for flavor. No Iriquois units are lost.
The airlift to St. Thomas continues. Forces are moved to reinforce Munith. many great sea battles are waged, to the detriment of both fleets (we lost a couple ironclads or so. Persia lost much more.) The homeland is still GREATLY overdefended in Loopey's mind but he can only send so many units completely safely every turn.
In not-so-direct military events, the science rate was lowered with no noticeable loss in efficiency. A Right of Passage and Persian embargo was signed with the Japanese, as we wished to attack Persian units in Japanese territory. Thought was given to gifting the Japanese with some much-needed technology but none was offered yet.
Despite Loopey's efforts, India declares war (on their turn), citing a MPP with Persia. The last Japanese city near our front was destroyed. Indian ships bombard Iriquois lands. Many cities complete many things and begin many other things. A lot of Police are demanded.
2 - 1898 - Loopey bombs new Ganges, an Indian city, and Egypt declares war on us. They had a MPP with India. SIGH! It's Japan/Iriquois vs. India/Persia/Egypt. And Japan isn't much of a partner. And we're still doing VERY well.
Detroit is heavily bombarded with artillery. Loopey's generals have long preached the folly of attacking fortified infantry with cavalry alone. The message has been taken to heart. Very injured infantry *are* susceptible to cavalry charges, as the razing of Detroit and the capture of New Ganges attest. [PG: "Capture one and raze one? Is Loopey schizophrenic?" RH: "Yes, that's it. Either that or he realizes that Detroit was relatively close to Persepolis and New Ganges was quite a ways from other Indian cities." PG: "Sorry." RH: "Not sorry enough."]
The war with Egypt means the transports headed to the Persian front really DID belong in Lugdunum and they spin around, hoping to reach the city before it falls. The airlift this year is to Lugdunum, not to St. Thomas as in previous years.
On the naval front, we bombarded some Egyptian land, fought fleets of various nations, sinking more than we lost but still losing an occasional ship. Probably the best news, though, was seeing a large Persian stack moving towards St. Thomas. [PG: "That's good news?" RH: "SHUT UP and LISTEN, will you?!?"] The stack was large -- about 15 units. [PG: "What?" RH: "Grr...."] It consisted of riflemen, archers, and immortals. They're hurting already.
During enemy movements, New Ganges was attacked by both the Indians the Persians, with no casualties on either side (cavalry retreat but infantry dominate). Lugdunum was also attacked by a horde -- a horde of war chariots! [PG: "Seriously, what happened?" RH: "I just told you." PG: "Nobody's stupid enough to send war chariots against infantry." RH: "Apparently, Cleopatra is. Although, I'd still like to ..." PG: "Just relate the history." RH: "Bite me!"]
On the home front, another slew of cities finished doing a slew of things and were told to do more things. Then, the Royal Scientist [PG: "Again with the Royal..." RH: foams at the mouth] announced the discovery of Motorized Transportation. Soon, Iriquois tanks would be crushing the enemy under giant rubber treads. Loopey ordered the man back to work on Computers, publicly citing a need to contact intelligence somewhere, even extra-terrestrial. Privately, Loopey is interested in Mobile Infantry, for obvious reasons.
The people, still polluting up a storm and increasingly unhappy, order huge phallic symbols built in front of Loopey's pathetic palace.
3 - 1900 - Science expenditures are increased to 80% of the budget. This means a loss of 395 gold/turn from a treasury of 2847 (at that time), but it also means faster research. This will bear much watching by the next leader.
The transports from Lugdunum returned. On that front, the war (hehehehe) chariots were crushed and a force of infantry and artillery moved into Egyptian land. Those cities look perfect for razing, if the opportunity presents itself. A reasonable number of bombers were re-based in Lugdunum as well, as their limited range would be of more use on the packed Egyptian cities.
On the Persian/Indian front, a lot of clean-up of injured cavalry was done. The artillery/infantry stack started to move deeper into Persian lands. A Persian leader was spotted on a mountain near Readyland. He was summarily executed for being non-Iriquois.
Back on the homeland continent, all land units (infantry/artillery) were changed over to tanks. A few were purchased. The Democratic whip was cracked in some of the outlying cities with 12 population to encourage production. [PG: "Democratic whip?" RH: "Yeah. Draft, disband. 22 shields." PG: "Huh." RH: "Dickhead." PG: "What?" RH: "Nothing...."]
At the end of 1900, President Looney was assassinated. The official story is that it was Egyptian dissidents under the control of Ghandi, but everybody knows the Royal Historian finally snapped and did it himself.
An election is being held! Who's next???

Arathorn Jan 11, 2002, 07:26 AM Well, it was reasonably successful. I was much less aggressive than I normally am, as it isn't just "my game" I might be screwing up. Our military is seriously huge. I think we can easily fight all three reasonably successfully. However, I would advocate for attacking Egypt and either Persia/India and just defending against the other.
Boy, these turns take a long time. I would've done another one or two had I not needed to try to take notes on what was happening. There's just an awful lot of stuff!
My suggestions:
1. Finish Police Stations and then build tanks. War weariness will probably get bad and we might have to go Communism, but I wanted to stay Democracy for research as long as I could.
2. Bomb the HECK out of Egypt. Raze Cleopatra's cities there.
3. I think a spaceship win is our best bet, but Domination is probably possible if we really work at it.
4. Keep emptying the main continent interior cities to beef up outlying defenses. I mean, this isn't Civ2 folks. Plus, the AI really seems to struggle with landings. The coastal cities, though, are still well-defended, just on the off-chance they build Marines.
Yeah, it's all-out war, but it's one the Iriquois are really in a position to win.

Readylander Jan 11, 2002, 01:55 PM Arathorn,
Sounds like you got the war off to a good start.
I've spent most of my time with this game cleaning up after wars and building infrastructure, time for me to have some warring fun :)
Readylander Jan 12, 2002, 03:16 AM Been awhile so first I spend some time looking at our current state of affairs before ending 1900AD.
From the domestic advisor report three things are apparent:
1. We are 6 turns from researching Computers. That I will change to Fission because we have to get the UN or we lose this game.
2. It appears that we are very close to having many cities go into civil disorder. I check with the trade advisor but our only trading partner, Japan, has no new luxuries to trade. Entertainment is at 0%, so I bump that to 10% to thwart losing productivity at this point.
3. We were losing 399 gold/turn prior to that tax bump, now it is 633. (Our lose of trade due to war is killing us here.) I drop science rate from 80% down to 50% (we will discover Fission in 9 turns), now we are making a 46 gold/turn profit. Our treasury is at 1,755.
Some cities converted to happiness producing structures.
Our military advisor reports that our military consists of:
1 settler
49 workers (so that's why turns take so darn long with this game)
2 swordsman
21 cavalry
167 infantry
37 artillery
1 frigate
1 galleon (I will upgrade that)
17 ironclad
13 transports
12 destroyers
1 fighter
14 bombers
We need tanks, strong naval units, air units and more tanks.
All of our military production is currently on tanks and naval units which makes sense to me. 8 tanks will be produced this next turn and then some of those cities I will begin to phase back to air units.
Our foreign advisor confirms that we are still at war with Persia, India and Egypt, as is our only friend, Japan.
None of our trade agreements come up for renegotiation for at least 7 turns.
Our culture advisor reports that our only chance at a culture win, Salamanca is at 11,865 and adding 71 per turn, we are a long way from a culture win, don't think that is going to happen.
According to our science advisor we are 9 turns from Fission and we skipped amphibious warfare and advanced flight in the industrial age.
After looking around the map a bit I decide we have too many workers improving cities that will never contribute anything so I move some of those to cleaning up pollution and coastal war damage in our core city area.
1902AD
I laugh as I watch Egypt bombard our coastal roads around the former Roman cities, oh, that hurts us so much. I laugh even harder as they send their military towards Lugdunum. They sent 20 war chariots!!, 3 infantry and 1 cavalry. I take out the infantry and cavalry and leave the chariots to beat themselves against the walls of the city. I bombard the first Egyptian city and airlift in 8 tanks. I will begin the assault of Egypt next turn. Asyut, two cities northwest of ours, that has what appears to be Egypt's only source of oil and some ivory is my initial goal.
I conduct some naval warfare with good results. But I do almost lose a full strength elite destroyer on an Indian frigate!
Had two cities go into civil disorder. Lots of production finished, some started happiness improvements, others military units.
Our offense units on the Indian/Persian continent spend a turn in the barracks healing up, bombardments don't have much success. Bombers are moved to cities where they can reach the new targets.
A transport of workers is shipped off to each continent to help speed our assault forces attacks.
1904AD
Egypt bombers were sent against Lugdunum and took out the walls. 14 of the war chariots, the others had been injured by our artillery on their way into position, were sent against the city. One died, the rest are sitting there with one hit point.
More moving units into position.
From the domestic advisor report it is obvious that war weariness has caught up with us. Time to use that religiousness and switch governments. We fall into anarchy.
1906AD
I choose Republic. Our research time has slowed, we are now 10 turns from Fission. But at 20% entertainment our cities are doing OK and we are running a slight profit.
Bad news, Egypt has tanks. They are putting up a good fight at Lugdunum and brought in more units this turn. This time they brought in 3 infantry, 2 cavalry, 2 swordsman and a longbowman. 5 cavalry attacked the city by land and all were repelled with no losses to us or them.
Barracks were rushed in Lugdunum. Though the walls were destroyed last turn I felt that due to the weak units they were sending in against us that it was more important to have a healing place than more defense.
After bombarding El-Ashmunein I attacked and took the city with the loss of only one cavalry. I decided to not raze the city as I need it for a bomber base to take my real target, Asyut. If I am right about that being their only source of oil than it is important to get that city. They might be able to trade for some oil but that will cost them money and therefore will cut into their research abilities.
I took out all of the strong forces outside Lugdunum. The others can sit there and throw themselves at the city at their leisure. I have them surrounded with infantry so they aren't going anyplace, unless they pick them up with the next transport.
I am kinda feeling the lack of fresh troops this turn due to last turn's anarchy. I wish I could push on here or take out more of the Egyptian troops around Lugdunum but our forces are at least strong enough for defending.
On the other continent I attack the Indian city just southwest of Munith, I lose two cavalry in the process but they lose their five troops and six ships that were sitting in the city. I decide to raze this city. New Ganges is in position to serve as a bomber base for the next two cities so I didn't want to spend the money defending this city. Sorry I razed the city before thinking to check it's name.
Borazjan, the first Persian city northeast of New Ganges I have been bombarding the last few turns, it is now down to a population of 1.
1908AD
Egypt's attack this time was limited to bombing the railroads around the city just taken.
I use the Egyptian troops outside Lugdunum for more troop training. I think I have made 4 elite troops while slowly killing them off. There are now 12 chariots left. El-Ashmunein still has two resisting citizens but I am risking it and moving in bombers. We really need that ivory that is now just one city northwest of us.
On the other continent I am trying to get set up to push on towards Bangalore which has gems.
1910AD
Egypt again bombed some railroads around the city we took but our workers were able to re-establish the supply railroad so they didn't slow us down.
Egyptian tanks then attacked the city but all five were repelled. They then sent a cavalry unit that was also fought off. The resistance finally ends and I rush a temple in the city.
I bomb the lone Egyptian city on the other continent and both infantry units are down to one hit point. I lose three cavalry attacking the city and the last one upgrades one of their units so I decide to give it another try next turn.
I kill off all of the Egyptian tanks outside El-Ashmunein, losing one cavalry unit. I continue bombing the ivory city.
We pretty much rule the seas now. Though Egypt does have 5 or 6 pesky frigates bombarding that one city island at the very north of our continent, Brighton. I have finally freed up a destroyer that is headed up that way. Every time I take out a transport I miss the message that Civ2 gives regarding how many units went down with the ship :(
1912AD
Egypt again makes a lame attack on El-Ashmunein. But we do lose one tank in the battle.
Finally, all of the war chariots are gone!
Bubastis, the lone Egyptian city on the other continent is destroyed this turn with no loses to us.
New York, Persian, is taken. We are now at the doorstep of gems in Bangalore. It will take a couple turns to get the gems though.
I continue bombing the ivory city and move units right beside it. I plan to take it next turn, raze it and build a new city with ivory!
War weariness is really getting to be a problem. I have to pump up the entertainment to 40% to stave off civil unrest. I also drop the science % so we don't lose too much money. I need some cash to rush temples in the new cities. I will have to sue for peace as soon as I get the luxuries.
1914AD
War weariness is a huge problem. Many cities, although not the core cities, fall into civil unrest.
After bombing the ivory city until all defenders are down to one hit point I take the city with no loses to us. I raze the city. The settler will take three turns to reach the site for our new ivory city.
As I clean up the Egyptian attackers around El-Ashmunein one of the war chariot trained elite cavalry creates a great leader, Tecumseh. I immediately load him on a transport and send him back to the main continent. He will be used to build the UN.
I rush a temple in New York.
More movement of troops for attacks next turn.
I decide it is time we go to communism. I don't usually play with religious civs so I am not accustomed to being able to so quickly switch governments.
We fall into anarchy.
1916AD
Under communism I drop entertainment to 0% and raise science to 40%, we have a 40 gold/turn surplus.
Egypt lands another transport of troops on shore, this time near El-Ashmunein. 2 infantry, 1 cavalry, 2 longbowman and 3 war chariots!! Where the heck are they coming up with these chariots? Are they still producing them? Oh well, more troop training material.
After bombing, I attack the city just east of El-Ashmunein. I lose one tank but take the city and raze it. Get 8 more workers.
All the Egyptian troops just landed are destroyed.
On the other continent, Borazjan is taken.
The city of Chondote is established next to the gems, as soon as Bangalore is destroyed we will have the gems within our borders.
1918AD
Egypt and Japan have signed a peace treaty.
Japan wants to renegotiate our luxury trade. They wanted way too much for their wine. I told em to take a walk.
Borazjan, after withstanding more than 10 Indian cavalry, fell to the first Persian cavalry. We were down to one hit point on our last infantryman.
Egypt wanted to talk, I said no. We will have our ivory in a couple turns, then we will talk peace.
Bangalore was taken. We now have gems.
1920AD
The Egyptian city just east of Lugdunum was taken and razed.
Gewauga was established and we now have ivory.
Time for peace.
From Egypt we get wmap and 40 gold/turn
India pays us wmap and 8 gold/turn
And Persia wmap and 14 gold/turn
Now it is time to heal up, return to Democracy and |
