View Full Version : Unit Request LITTORAL COMBAT SHIP
Rocky2005 Oct 26, 2005, 11:46 AM INFO
The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is the first of a new family of surface ships for the US Navy. The LCS is a fast, highly maneuverable, networked surface combat ship, which is a specialized variant of the family of US future surface combat ships known as DD(X). LCS is designed to satisfy the urgent requirement for shallow draft vessels to operate in the littoral (coastal waters) to counter growing potential "asymmetric" threats of coastal mines, quiet diesel submarines and the potential to carry explosives and terrorists on small, fast, armed boats.
In May 2004, the United States Department of Defense and the US Navy announced the selection of two separate defense contracting teams led by Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics to each carry out system design and options for the detailed design and construction of two Flight 0, or first generation, LCS ships.
A total of 60 LCS ships will be constructed

Ozymandias Oct 26, 2005, 01:11 PM I'd personally love to see this made -- however, there sadly seems to be little interest in making near-future ships such as this one or near-historical alternatives such as the Arsenal Ship.

Takhisis Oct 26, 2005, 02:33 PM What is it supposed to do, apart from fighting terrorism on shallow waters? You could ask Bjornlo about making it.

Bjornlo Oct 26, 2005, 03:09 PM The image in post #1 is a 3d render. Do you have the mesh?
I've never done a ship, and would not mind doing one. I would prefer not to make the model, but just texture, animate, etc. I have a dozen ship meshes (3d models) I've been playing with. If you have the model for this ship, I would be willing to consider it.
Before I could do any ship, I have a transport to finish, and then next is a stryker.

AHEM!!;)
Forgetting something?:p

That one is very complex and requires quite alot of polish before I can make it is all. Not forgotten. But I have been thinking of making a ship (other then a space one) for a long time.

I meant what it´s supposed ot do in-game.
You two, stop bickering :p

Marinecorps is just exploring the theory that if he nags me enough I'll make the SG1 ship he is pining after faster.
The problem with this theory, is that if nagging worked, there would be no need for it. ie: if I did as he asked when he wanted, there would be no need to nag. But since asking over and over again has reliably produced the same results "I'll get to it, when I get to it" both sides of the theorem are tested and the results are: nagging has little or no effect.
But MC is young, so I guess hope springs eternal.

Is there an echo in the building? Now where have I heard that language before?

My head hurts. :(:crazyeye:
And simply because it's a theory doesn't mean it won't work. Not that it has ever worked with wyrm. :hmm: :( :p

By the way there are 2 LCS ship companies make the LCS design and only one will get the contract
each company will make 2 ships of there design
The General Dynamics is the one in the pictures
and The Lockheed Martin CLICK THE LINK TO SEE BOTH

If the SG-1 ship being discussed is the Ha'Tak (Goa'uld mothership) there is a mesh available...

MarineCorps Oct 27, 2005, 12:00 PM Nope. It's the daedalus. I found him a model for it a couple months ago. :p
