I installed civ4 without any problems, but when i try to start the game, i get the following error msg:

"Failed to Initialize Renderer - Check DirectX Version and Graphics Settings"

I have the newest catalyst driver and the newest DirectX Version 9.0c

3000+ Barton CPU
Radeon 9600 Series graphics
1,5 GB Infineon DDR Ram
Lots of free HDD space

Any ideas and suggestions?

Try installing the DirectX version that is included on the cdrom.

i tried using the version on the civ4 dvd, i reinstalled the game several times, i tried installing with different languages, i tried installing the directx version before installing the game and so on - it does not solve the problems.
