View Full Version : Password Protecting Saves

There is a way to prevent single player saves from being cheated upon (i.e., worldbuilder, unit placement, debug mode...). Whenever we start a new game, a 3rd party (or moderator) should be handed the save, and they enable the admin password feature. This will help ensure that no one messes with the save. :)

So you mean no average Joe from the forums can download the save + play, or you can't even load debug / the world builder? What does it exactly protect?

This would also mean that no citizens will be able to look at the save

Actually, it only means that you can't use debug mode, or any of the cheats. You can still look at/play the save. It's like a "Cheat Mode Lock" (think of it as a parental control device. You can still watch TV, but there's certain things you can't/shouldn't touch. ;) ).

sounds like a sensible idea, we should go with it.

yea it would be absolutely terrible if somebody used a cheat and found some info on enemy troops that we didnt know. but then again it would be fun to have a huge scandal "War minister brainwased citizen then forced citizen to leak information on enemy troops just to win the next election".;)

I agree, but truth be told this could still ahppen anyways, it is just more difficult. With this we just have to trust that a mod wont leak info, that would be even more scandalis.

What would be ideal, is a password lock that as well as including the things Chieftess mentioned - also disabled the movement of units.

That way everyone could look at the map, cities, unit stacks etc. But not move units into unexplored territory etc.

I don't think that can be done, but once the SDK is released, a demogame mod could be made to that effect.
