When I started my first game, it went straight to an automated game without options for me choosing the :

- No. of AI Civs
- Which AI Civs I would be playing against

Did I miss a step? Or do you only have these options on harder difficulties?

After you select Single Player do not click on Play Now. That automatically sends you directly to a game. Instead click Custom Game, which allows you to choose your own options.

I've been playing with 'Custom Game,' but I can't find a way to have the game randomly decide whether I'll play Pangaea, Continents, Archipelago, etc. Didn't previous Civ's have a 'complete random selection' feature? You can come *close* to this by, say, choosing Custom_continents and randomizing all the settings, including number of continents. But if that random number starts at 2 (as it seems), then you still know you're in store for at least some oceangoing.
