View Full Version : Wouldn't you like access to a few of Wyrmshadow's units?
Bjornlo Oct 29, 2005, 03:27 AM I was chatting with Wyrmshadow and had a goofy idea.
Wyrmshadow has made 100's and 100's of new units for the SOE, the ultimate WW2 era mod. I've lost count on the exact number of units, but I think it is between 300 and 400, but it may well be over that as fast as he is.
What I suggested to Wyrmshadow was that there be some sort of selection process (either a POLL or a LOTTERY) run on a weekly basis or some other random time period of Wyrmshadow's choosing. These will not be his cream of the crop, top of the line units for this MOD. But Wyrmshadow's units never suck, so how he decides which to include in the lottery would be a mystery. Which units he decides put in that weeks lottery or poll would be entirely his call.
The primary purpose of this lottery or POLL would be to let you all have a little peek at the glory that will be SOE5.
What do you think? Should he do this?
Wyrmshadow Oct 29, 2005, 03:37 AM Well it's an interesting idea and I agree with the concept that we need to keep both Civ3 and SOE fresh on everyone's minds...... and as 'creative' as I am with my gfx.. its the simple stuff I'm not creative with.
For one thing I don't know what unit's I'd choose to offer up and for right now you'd be limited to Air/Sea unit because I have not started on any tanks.
If you don't know what I got, just look here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=113423
Ares de Borg Oct 29, 2005, 12:17 PM Well, it's a rhetorical question for me. Of course I'd like to have some new toys! We are talking about Wyrm here! ;-)
NavyDawg Oct 29, 2005, 12:29 PM Sounds like a great way to show the Civ IV weenies that Civ III still has talented unit makers and dedicated fans. Of course count me in. As to which units are released, maybe you can mix it up by picking a tank, then a ship for the next one, then a plane, etc...:goodjob:
Quinzy Oct 29, 2005, 12:33 PM im all for the unit-release.
when i get 4, i'll still be fully dedicated to 3.
i think a lotto would work, cos i want a choice in the matter! ;)
Iron Beagle Oct 29, 2005, 12:47 PM Release these units now or I'll have to start executing the hostages.
Ozymandias Oct 29, 2005, 01:14 PM Well, counting myself as a long-time Wyrmshadow fan, I think we can all guess how I vote -- I'd love for Wyrm to release whichever, however he best sees fit.

Jonesie85two Oct 29, 2005, 03:28 PM i'll have a sex change and then have his baby if he'd let me at some of those units!

Okay Mr. Garrison, let's not get carried away.
BadKharma Oct 29, 2005, 03:35 PM Wyrm your units are awsome if you are willing to pre-release some I'm all for it.

Now here's a phrase you don't get to use very often... "disturbingly enthusiastic".. either a real fan or perhaps just a lapse in medication?:crazyeye: .
Takhisis Oct 29, 2005, 03:41 PM Whenever you make a unit, upload it, don´t keep saving it for later or people will ditch you.
Bjornlo Oct 29, 2005, 03:46 PM Whenever you make a unit, upload it, donīt keep saving it for later or people will ditch you.
You're mistaken on both points.
He is not saving them for later. He is building them especially for this particular mod. He has just agreed to consider giving a few out early to be kind.
And you seriously think the Civ3 fan base would not use the units of the most prolific unit creator it has ever had just because he is making a ton of them for one particular mod?
BadKharma Oct 29, 2005, 03:51 PM No I'm sure people will download SOE5 just for the models alone. The number to be included is astronomical. I'm interested in learning more about Storm over the Pacific also.
Sword_Of_Geddon Oct 29, 2005, 08:55 PM Wyrmshadow is one of the most talented and dedicated people in the civfandom. I'm surprised he hasn't posted any of this units here, not that Evogames is a bad site.

Thats a long story. All of them were removed in Jan 2004 because of certain problems.

If you really want an idea on what happened, go look in this forum for a thread from 03 that is locked and started by me.;)
WildWeazel Oct 29, 2005, 09:09 PM I think he should spam this forum by making a new thread for each unit, thereby burying everything else in a sudden surge of Civ3 C&C activity. :D
Sword_Of_Geddon Oct 29, 2005, 09:11 PM I support that idea Weasal...:)
WildWeazel Oct 29, 2005, 09:17 PM *hurls F7 at SoG*
Sword_Of_Geddon Oct 29, 2005, 09:24 PM *ducks and grabs a random battleship from Wyrmshadow's toy chest and tosses it at Weasal*
WildWeazel Oct 29, 2005, 09:28 PM I was reffering to the F7 key, for spell check. Everyone keeps calling me Weasal.

Wyrm, you wouldn't happen to have anything that could go into a 2020 urban warfare environment and not look totally out of place would you?
Wyrmshadow Oct 29, 2005, 09:30 PM I have many modern models but this is about ww2.
WildWeazel Oct 29, 2005, 09:33 PM I thought maybe there would be something that wasn't obviously 1940's technology. I'm using a few older units already that are plausible in the near future as sort of second-rate units.
I think I'm using a few of your modern units.
