View Full Version : Out of Synch Error Message
mabusciv Oct 29, 2005, 03:39 PM out of synch ! mysyncseed=74414848:my options seed=57571867
Flashed on the screen in bright red and remained there for the rest of the game for the entire group of players playing.
In playing we discovered that some of us were a turn or two ahead of the others. I suppose thats what it was refering to.

Had the same thing today! (Different number thought, I think). It happened after someone left and rejoined, but maybe that was just coincidence.
Groomy Oct 29, 2005, 08:07 PM Same thing in a game with 3 players... no one left or rejoined the game but one player didn't see the sames things that the others :crazyeye:
DJ2003 Oct 29, 2005, 09:28 PM Same here, 2 player direct IP. I had different numbers I believe (if that matters). We both have the same exact DSL provider, but he has a worse connection than I do (don't know if that made the error or not?) I was hosting. We were also unable to see each other's chat messages.
CanuckSoldier Oct 30, 2005, 01:53 AM In a OOS every player needs to state there OOS(last 4 digits) numbers, like 1266/3005 , the person that is the "odd man out" has to leave and rejoin, they are the ones that have game data that is not the same as the other players. This most often happens will people with slower computers or connections and don't process the game data fast enough and "fall behind", once your out-of-sync re-hotjoining is the only solution. You can't play with a OOS really, you won't crash but your games won't be the same.

Play SP?:mischief:
Seriously though, OOS is not a big deal. One player rejoins and the problem is solved. It doesn't pop up too often.
JohnYoga Mar 11, 2006, 09:08 AM It happens all the time for us...
I wish there was a way to fix this other than have one person get off/back on...This is highly annoying.
Please, any other ideas besides that one?
Regards to all,
John
eric_ Nov 03, 2006, 08:11 AM I've only played on MP game (last night) and this happened. Apparently I was the one out of synch, so I quit (fwiw, my computer is definitely not low-end, other than having the minimum recommended vid card).
Now for the stupid question: how does one rejoin? Do you look for the game in the lobby list, or do you load the saved game? I reloaded the game after looking for it in the lobby for a couple of minutes, nut when the game reloaded, all the players were set to AI. I took this to mean they moved on without me because I took too long, but maybe reloading isn't the way to go?
eric_ Nov 03, 2006, 10:45 AM No one can explain the process for rejoining a game when an OOS error occurs?

When you have determined which player is OOS, ask this player kindly to rejoin. Please dont say: "FU NOOB you're OOS, you homo." This OOS player should then find the game in the list of games in the gamespy lobby, double click on it and rejoin as his civ. The only problem is many players can be impatient and will jve retired before said OOS offender can return.
