A friend and I tried MP this evening, both of us teaming against two separate AIs.

I have a question about sharing technologies. Do these technologies have to be traded or does it happen automaticaly?

Or does it happen automatically only when there's a trade network of roads between the teams and between the cities of each individual member of a team?

The manual doesn't cover this at all, except to say that teams do share technologies.

When we were playing it didn't appear that we were sharing technologies.

Can anyone clarify?

Thanks,

For me, it happened automatically. I put myself and my girlfriend on team 1, and started the game. From the very first turn, before we'd even created cities, we were sharing all line of sight and technologies. Case in point, she was Russia and I was China, yet I started the game with Hunting (and a Scout, even), because the Russian Civ starts the game with it.

If that's not happening for you, I'm not sure why. You're positive you put yourselves on the same team before you started the game? Being on the same team isn't the same as just allying, it pretty much makes you one civilisation.

If you did make yourself the same team, how did you manage to play against AI opponents? Whenever I make a Hotseat game and put my girlfriend and I on a team, it automatically turns all opponents into Human-controlled civs, despite me clearly setting them as AI when I start the game.
