Hello everyone,

First of all, I'd like to say that I very much love your forum, been reading it for ages, just never got around to actually registering and saying something myself. :mischief:

But reading the posts about Civlization IV the last couple of days really made me realize I had to say something here. Everyone is so negative about this game, and bring everything forward just to make it burn... and I would like to give my own opinion on that.

I bought the game two days ago in the Netherlands, can hardly describe how fast I rode on my bicycle to the store, then ran into the store when it opened and picked it off the shelf in about 3.46 seconds. ;) I rode home, perhaps even faster and almost threw the disc into my dvd-rom player...

When the install completed I started the game and watched the intro... I think the intro alone is worth the money for the game... I had tears in my eyes and goosebumps all-over... it's so beautiful, so is the main theme... I'll leave it to your imagination how people here are looking at you when you as a white guy go walking on the street singing a Swahili song all day... :D

Then I started playing, and it's so deep, I played it for hours and even when I had to go working, and to university today, I just couldn't get my mind off it... It is, for me atleast, *by far* the best game I have ever played... better than Civ 1 and 2 and certainly better than 3...

If anyone here makes you doubt about buying the game... just don't listen to them... I wouldn't want anyone to miss such an experience.

BTW: It works great on my machine, my specs are not *that* impressive...

Pentium 4, 2.66Ghz
512mb RAM (with huge virtual memory though)
GeForce 4 4200ti

Thanks Sid and Firaxis for making my life working up to this point for months and then actually fulfilling the expectations.

So, to everyone not having bought the game yet, don't listen to those nay-sayers... and to all the fortunate ones already in possession of a copy, happy Civving!

Yours sincerely,
Llotyhy

I had been obsessing over the game in the forums for the better part of a month -- without a game even in hand. I would listen to the Baba Yetu theme before it was even played on the main menu. I would contemplate my strategy before I even went to war, and consider which of the 25 leaders was right for me before I even knew what they looked like.

Yet doubt swelled in my mind when I finally got the game in my hands. The forums were filled with problem posts and bug reports -- and my card was part of the problems list. I was angry, nervous, and afraid that I might not even be able to play. When my title finally came, after the installation, the game refused to load brining up a similar error to which many had complained of previously. However, I was determined to play, so I uninstalled my video card drivers and installed the latest Omega ATI drivers.... and low and behold -- Civilization 4 was mine.

It was everything I wanted it to be and more.

it is a good game, very good, if only they solved the dark ground, then i would be able to play right away.
