View Full Version : GRAPHIC: Stone Interface Background 0.5e

Main
Well I made a nice white marbly stone texture and played with it. I think it looks more epic and more fun. And the game was all too yellow anyway.

I haven't replaced everything. Partially because I liked some things, and partially because I had no time.

I hope you think it's nice, and I appriciate feedback or assistance.

Changed
The yellow stone with green specks that Civ 3 uses isn't all that great or impressive, and I was quite annoyed with it.

The 1pixel black line border was ugly.

Plus, I absolutely DESPISE the "cardboard texture" which is the texture for the "elevated" things in the interface. Think about the cardboard on the sides of all advisors.

Plans
I plan to make the negociations table a wooden table with papyrus paper.

I plan to change the civilopedia into something better looking, like a book.

Basically, I was lazy since civilopedia has dozens of different graphic files and it's a b!tch to edit them all.

Bugs
I am also aware of the exit button bug which changes lighting on mouse over.

Get it
The patch itself is compressed in RAR and is 5.7 MB.

It contains only the files one should change, devided already into sub directories.

I'd advise you to back up your ART folder and extract the RAR file into it.

The file can be reached at http://www.sirotnikov.f2s.com/civ3/

I really want feedback

Looks cool, but what's with the blurs?

Thanks :)

The blurs are for two reasons:

1) Make sure your eyes are focused on the texture
2) Make the JPEG size smaller (since I saved it in 94%)

The mod looks good. I’m going to try it.

Sirotnikov—“rad” is short for “radical;” in Exsanguination’s context, “rad” meant “extremely good.”

I know it means radical, but i'm not that familiar with hip-talk to know that it always means it's good.

Also, mods, this modpack is far from finished.

Well, not that far... but I called it 0.5e for a reason ;) :D

Anyway i really like the look of this mod and will be trying the final version (maybe even this one since u want feedback) but it looks class, and so much better than the Firaxis cheap crap.

RAR is much better than ZIP in General. WinRar even makes smaller Zip files than WinZip.

Here is unRar.exe (zipped) :

Sirotnikov, try signing up for an account at hypermart.net, they have 50MB space and 500MB of transfer a month... its free, it should do temporarily.

I know this is ancient, but I used the Stone Interface and recently lost it...

Since this file was hosted off-site, it was very nearly utterly lost when the server evaporated. Luckily Sirotnikov tracked it down at civ.org.pl; specifically here (http://www.civ.org.pl/downloads.php?lang=Eng&type=Civ3&section=Misc).

However, without changing the files at all I've managed to get a better compression on them so it can be hosted here. It's now a self-extracting 7zip archive weighing in at 4.27MB.

Of course I can't upload an exe file here. Hmm...
