SMTP = Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
a smtp server is the server you use to send emails from your isp like if you have comcast its smtp.comcast.net
you add players by adding their email and a password. if you have their smtp info it will send the email automatically (in theory). the password makes it so only the person can open it and it can be changed after the game starts by pressing alt-D i belive.
im game if you want and i can help setup and run for you if you like
id like to be isabella from spain please

smtp is very important if you want civ to send the email for you. smtp.aol.com would not work
aols mail system is closed off and cant be used by outside sources like that(at least thats the way it was)) you would need to find someone who can give you an email addy that supports pop3 mail or you would have to manually send the file to the next player
