JesusOnEez Feb 28, 2007, 11:40 AM ALTERNATES NEEDED - ROSTER OPEN!!!
We need a couple of alternates for this game...we currently about to go to war (almost modern...WWI ish) and need an alternate to take Cosmichail's place until he comes back (he may or may not be back...we think his house move went awry). Also another alternate needed for when any other player can't play and doesn't pick up in the 24 hour window. This alternate will probably get a good number of turnsets. So, head on over to the game thread and apply.

eldar Mar 28, 2007, 12:35 PM I'd like to kick off a Monarch SG. I'm not sure where to take it though, and a "vanilla" SG of "let's see where it goes" would be a bit bland. On the other hand, I'm not really experienced enough with variants in [civ4]. Ah well. We'll see who joins in and what happens.

We start with 6 spies in 6 AI capitals . 6 submarines in the coastal waters. And 6 sleath bombers in our capital. To finance all the pillagings our spies do we start with 100,000 gold in our treasury. The turn after finding our city Scotland yard will be produced in our capital. We are not allowed universal suffrange to hurry buildings /units till we research democracy ourselves. We get 4 merchants in the beginning to join to the city to compensate for the unit upkeep.
Between our spies and sleath bombers, we will be trying to give Ai a no road, improvements variant , the counterpart of bryzantine dromon in civ3 conquests. Our sumbarines will strip the Ai's of coastal improvements and a navy
spy replacements on the other continent can be done using our submarines.

I've been lurking these forums for some time and decided to finally get in on the succession action with a game oriented towards newer players such as myself. The idea would hopefully be to learn from each other and perhaps one or two more experienced players could join to help point out our flaws and make sure we don't get too off track. I think it'd be great if one of these experienced players could start us out on the first set of turns and pick the civ (or we could just discuss it here, I have little preference in who I play as).

JesusOnEez Jun 06, 2007, 09:38 AM Game thread here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=5525744#post5525744).
A while ago, a game was started by UltimateGP in which the aim was to control all the oil by the end of the game, and ideally sell it for big profits. The game didn't finish due to a slightly unreliable SG leader, and the fact that the variant didn't really kick in until the late game.
I thought the general idea was a good one though, so here's my take.
The Variants
We must control all copper, iron and aluminium resources in the world.
We have to be selling (for gold only) at least one of the above metal resources to every civ by the end of the game. That's active deals at games end making Diplomacy a bit more fun.
We must NOT wipe out any civilization...they are paying customers after all.
Game : Warlords (latest patch)
Landmass : Fractal
Speed : Epic
Size : Standard
Difficulty : Monarch
Leader : Shaka
Victory Conditions : All enabled including Time
Our Victory Condition : Any. Completing the variant is our primary goal.
Sea Level : High (I find Fractal and this setting gives some cool shaped landmasses sometimes)
All other settings are default.

vra379971 Jul 31, 2007, 09:13 PM Vra-03 ~ An Apology to America OR An Amazing Abe
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*walks in wearing sackcloth*
"Folks...I come here to spread the good news, and to make amends for the sins of many...
The fact is folks, America doesn't get much respect around here, as people go for those other 'cool' civs like Rome and...well...Rome, a good enough example! Poor America just doesnt get the respect it deserves!
You ask why America is the best?! What?! Isn't it clear?! Oh...I suppose it isn't.
Well look, America has given us Civilization, the 'one more turn syndrome', the internet in which I post this and, most imporantly...it gave us the one known simply as...Sid!
Anyway, in order to pay hommage to this great nation and Lincon, the guy which helped it survive, I propose the following challenge..."
Monarch - Beyond the Sword
Size - TBD (I like large or Huge)
Speed - Epic, but I could also agree to Normal
No tech trades allowed IF YOU DID NOT RESEARCH THEM!
Victory conditions....
We must found AT LEAST three coroporations.
We must win by by two victory conditions on the same turn. I propose Space and Diplomatic.
I'm looking for 5 or 6 and plenty of detail and discussion, because this is going to be rather tough!
Post here or PM me for a spot. First come, first serve.
sunrise089 Aug 01, 2007, 01:17 AM @Doronron - Huge map will eliminate many potential players FYI
@Vra - Is the no tech brokering option going to be turned on, or is that a self-imposed rule only? The latter is much harder.
doronron Aug 01, 2007, 05:26 AM Reduced the map size. Perhaps that will help?

Veritass Aug 02, 2007, 04:25 PM I'm looking for a BtS game that would specialize on espionage. I am willing to play in the game, but I have never played a succession game, so I would need some hand-holding.
I would suggest maybe a requirement that we could never set the espionage slider less than 30%, and have to have a great spy in every opponent's capital.
Any advice on what would be the best leader?
Any suggestions on other variant rules that may make a good game?
Anyone interested in such a game?
1889 Aug 06, 2007, 02:14 PM Great idea Veritass. I decided to explore some of BtS's new diplo and espionage elements with a passive-aggressive SG in "Gandhi, you jerk". 4-5 players should be good, any experience level is fine with me.
EDIT: game started.
Jamesds Aug 14, 2007, 02:46 PM OK, I've got a thread open for an SG, and we can accept a couple more players. It is a 'training' SG, so we will be working at Prince , and discussing strategies and how to play well. For this to work, we would like a Civ expert, someone who can advise on how to proceed, and review what has already happened.
Playing on Civ4 Beyond the Sword, map size small-large, rest yet to be decided.
Anyone interested in leading this? We already have one volunteer for the collating of save game data, so leading won't be too difficult.

azaris Aug 16, 2007, 08:52 AM We need a replacement in AZ-04 It's the Stupid Economy (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=233962), prererably someone who isn't already playing too many SGs at the same time.

Jamesds Aug 28, 2007, 03:15 AM Looking for 3, possibly 4 players to join the Civ4:BtS Prince SG, in which all players play from one save a certain number of turns, and compare their resulting game with those of the other players. This is meant to improve your BtS game as you see how other players peformed in the same situation.
Currently at Turn 110 (moving onto fourth round) of a game, but it is easy enough to continue from there. So far it's been great fun, so at least do yourself a favour and check it out! ;)

Bede Sep 09, 2007, 12:15 PM On a hot, lazy, late summer day a wizened old coot wearing a tattered cloak and sporting a dagger at his belt approached me in the pasture.
"Psst, looking for a new adventure?", he muttered behind his hand, glancing furtively in all directions, his eyes swiveling like a the blue lights of a police car. "Come with me."
Intrigued, I followed him to a shady nook, surrounded by leafy trees and hidden from the curious glances of any passerby.
"Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is concealed inside this map", he whispered, and pulled a scroll from underneath the cloak.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a371/doconor/WH02/Start.jpg
"Assemble your team and take control of Ethiopia. Lead them to their rightful place in the world. You are surrounded by canny opponents and will need to protect yourself from them by building a Great Wall." he muttered. "Espionage and sabotage will be your tactics in this Great Game. Steal knowledge from the strongest and overwhelm the weakest."
As I nodded my head to show understanding, the tatterdemalion provocateur suddenly vanished, leaving behind the map and these notes

Ozbenno Dec 24, 2007, 12:41 AM Following on from last year's christmas themed sucession game, its time for a new one.
Game: Beyond the Sword
Leader: ???
Opponents: 6
Difficulty: Monarch maybe Prince
Map: Pangaea
Size: Standard
Speed: Normal
Options: Aggressive AI
Victory: All Enabled.
Variant rules:
At the end of every turnset (15 turns), we have to do whatever necessary to bring peace to the world (in any war we are involved in and any AI-AI war).
We can never declare on the AI or join in an AI-AI war.
If we are declared on, we can take any AI cities we want but remember rule #1.
Just to clarify, if its possible to get peace (by gifting techs, money or cities) we MUST do it. We can negotiate the terms if we want. If the AI will accept peace for free, that's acceptable, if they'll give us something that's acceptable, we just have to bring peace to the world.
Yes, yes, you're all saying how easy is this? There won't be any war even with Agressive AI. Sorry, didn't I mention, I (or someone else) am going to worldbuilder the start so that all 7 (us and 6 opponents), start with a religion from the first turn, meaning from the get go, the AI will hate each other.

Who needs testing :p
Shouldn't be as hard as last year's game where we had to accept every AI demand without question and we won that pretty easy.
Doesn't seem to have sparked any interest, so I think I'll let it die and never speak of it again.

I'm new to Civ in general played a little with Civ 3 and got Civ4 Gold and BtS for Christmas. I've been lurking a number of SG threads and would like to start a training SG, or at least one where I can ask lots of questions. :)
I'd like to have at least one experienced player if not more to help any newbies besides myself get a better feel for the game.
Difficulty: Noble
Civ + Leader: Carthaginian/Hannibal
Map Type: Continents
Map Size: Large
Map Speed: Epic
Number of AI Civ's: 5
All other settings would be normal
Normal SG Ettiquette will apply:
- You have 24 hours to say that you have the save and can play your turns, and 48 hours after that to post the new save, along with your turn report. (Please post if you will not be around, so we can save time and automatically skip you.)
- Your turn report should be fairly detailed, and have pictures. It should not be a copy and paste of an auto-log.
- Don't automate anything!
- If you have to make a major game decision which has not been discussed, please consult with the group first.
- Use common sense.
I'm not sure what settings are best. I've only played a few games so far, but do have a good feel for how to play. I'm not sure what difficulty level to set it for, I can beat the game on Warlord but that's the highest I've tried so far.

ChrisFromLux May 20, 2008, 11:33 AM We started this BtS-game (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=266286) with 6 players, but we're down to 3 active players now, and 1 consultant! Our captain and another player are MIA since more than 1 month ... :(
Now, we would like to find 2 or 3 new players, to help us win this Monarch-game.
We're Lincoln, on a Big and Small map at Normal Speed. We are trying a Specialist Economy, and we had an early, but quite long war with Joao, and destroyed him. It's 1060AD now, we just discovered Education, and here's the report of the last turnset (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=6813885&postcount=286). The initial goal was to win by domination, using our UU (Navy SEALS); but that may change ...
mystyfly May 24, 2008, 03:28 AM After the success we had on Emperor (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=261986) and Immortal (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=267595), we now try ICS on Deity (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=276127)
We're looking for some players and hope to start soon.

GreyFox Jun 28, 2008, 09:30 AM AA04 - Victoria's Aggressive Adventure (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=276377) has lost two players, but is progressing nicely with the remaining four. Quotey Jun 28, 2008, 11:06 AM Qu01 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=280673), in which we build nothing but units and spaceship parts, requires one or two players. Or lurkers to suggest leader/ other settings. Monarch/Epic, aiming for conquest victory, no buildings.

Variant:
you may never chop a forest and as soon as the forest preserve improvement is unlocked all our forests must be made into preserves.

grandad1982 Jul 25, 2008, 12:49 PM Hi. We players at NCSG III - The Epic of Gilgamesh (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=277791) are looking for a someone to replace Krick19 who is sadly MIA.
Even though this is a game based on the idea behind the Nobles Club we are playing at Monarch level. If you play above or below this level please don't let it put you off!!!!
If your interested pop over and have a look and let us know.
Winth Jul 30, 2008, 04:02 AM Although the game isn't sparking any interest, I will do the formal thing: there are 11 players needed to play a competitive SG on Emperor, Archipelago map: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=284887. Rule is to have the most experienced naval unit in the game.

Quotey Sep 03, 2008, 03:29 PM Qu01.5 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=280673) is looking for some more brave players to not build buildings. Instead you must be able to build units and right click on enemy units. 2 players would be nice.
Please read the thread before applying. We got declared on and the bloody AI with Feudalism and lots of units declared on us. Damn AIs getting in our way of not building buildings by declaring on us.
The Sansman Sep 03, 2008, 08:18 PM JOE-07 - Surfer Dudes!
Due to some players dropping out I have decided to post here in hopes of getting two or three more players for this game. We are just about ready to go to war :ar15: and could use some more players to help FuRRie, Quotey and myself achieve the objectives of this game. Please post to the thread or PM me to sign up for WAR duty.:salute:
classical_hero Sep 04, 2008, 07:32 AM Classical 01 - Coeliac Disease
This is a BTS 3.17 Game.
The variation is that we can never have any wheat, rice or corn for this game.
grandad1982 Sep 04, 2008, 07:53 AM The forth installment in the NCSG series is up and about to start running!
To find out what the game is all about click here. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=289710)
The basic idea is to use Ramesses II to run a Religious Economy backed by a - hopefully  - strong espionage game.
The map is arid pangeae, Monarch difficulty and epic speed. Choose religion is set as I'm fed up of the early religions dominating the scene!
This is the opening screen to wet your appitites

If you want a bit of RPC flavor in your SG then this could be for you! While I'm not advocating any story telling a certain amount of keeping in caracter could be pretty fun.
So far we have 7 players interested:
grandad1982
schwartz
S.ilver
Bleys
Groogaroo
Krick19
GatlingGun
7 players I hear you say. Surely thats enough to play an SG with, if not even to many?! Well we're looking for a few more players so that we can run two teams at the same time!
Players of any level are welcome so don't be scared if your a prince level player etc. All you need is the desire to learn, co-operate and have fun!
So if you interested please drop by the thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=289710) and shout out!
I look forward to hearing from you!
EDIT: If the game has started by the time you decide you want to join in please feel free to start your own thread using the save. All I'd ask is that you keep the NCSG IV prefix and then distinguish your game anyway you please!

pnaxighn Oct 24, 2008, 08:44 PM Long (long!) time lurker looking for a few players for a somewhat unusual SG. Settings below: There aren't quite right: domination is allowed victory.http://i37.tinypic.com/k4uzi8.png
We'd be playing as the father of time, Chronos. No one but us and some barbarians (or not? I'm flexible) in the entire universe. The question is: how long does it take to win like this on Deity?
This game would be an exercise not in defeating other civs, but in stretching the bounds of what the game's hardest mode allows. I'm not a very strong player (right between noble and prince), and I feel like I often screw up choices that should be obvious: ignoring everyone else, what's the thing that would make my empire better, faster? Hence this game.

A lot of strategy articles for Emperor+ wax poetic about Lizzy's bonuses, UU, and flowing auburn hair. The first two will be negated in this SG.
Version: BtS 3.17
Difficulty: Emperor
Map: Fractal
(All other options default)

3) Every other GP will be deleted.
4) Though we may build Redcoats, they are not permitted to enter the cultural borders of any civ with which we may be at war until we tech Assembly Line.
