View Full Version : Civ 4 Sucession Game Registration Thread!
CoolioVonHoolio Nov 08, 2005, 06:51 PM Well since we had them in civ 3 why not here? it works like this
when you start an SG post your own thread and then post a short discription of it here and the number of players able to join. when the amount of players is full edit you first post here and say that it is full. this way your SG is well advertised and more people will join.
example:
blahblah 2
noble
AW variant
1. blahblah2423
2. open
3. open
4. open
5. open
understand?
Own Nov 10, 2005, 06:51 PM These threads are very useful, so if there's a new SG I can check my User CP and see this thread, without ever having to surf the forum :D .

SORRY - ROSTER FULL.
lurker turns will be given out on demand though.
this is supposed to be an EPIC STOYTELLING GAME.
following the joy of DAR01 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=122105) we'll be trying for a similar type game.
emphasis is on story telling and having fun.
places reserved for DAR01 vets, or anyone else with a desire for storytelling.
the specifics:
game - [civ4]
world, climate, etc, - TBD
civ - MALI.
our twist - all AI will be of the aggressive strain.
we ARE NOT allowed to declare war, and must remain as peaceful as possible.
victory we want - UN or CULTURAL
all variants are open for discussion, as this is new territory for us all.
Methos Nov 21, 2005, 06:52 AM Edit: Whoops, thought I was in the game thread.

Bede Nov 24, 2005, 09:24 AM And away we go!!
The objective is Space Exploration.
I am aiming to play a series of games with the various nations/leaders/traits all the way through to a completed Space Race keeping all world variables set to standard but with random opponents. The first game will at Prince and the level will advance as experience is gained.
Slots in the roster have been reserved for a rotating coterie of Civ3 "old hands and idiots" with one open slot in each game.

friskymike Dec 06, 2005, 06:24 AM Spanish Missionaries - Standard Pangaea Map - Prince Level
Our religion is the one true religion, and we must spread it far and wide!
See thread above for variant details, but basically we cannot go to war until we have spread our religion to every city that will accept it (unless a brother or sister of the faith requests military assistance, we can not deny them anything), and we can never attack a city with our religion (unless it is the holy city of a infidel religion, then it must be razed!)
Game cancelled
I put it on hold due to other SG committments, in the meantime a couple of similar games were started which I lurked, so I don't feel interested to play this.
FM01 is now the Team Barbarian OCC (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=166443), which has started but currently has open slots.

Methos Dec 31, 2005, 07:21 AM We are needing more players in our DI1: OCC AW (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=140150). We are shy players and are currently down to two, possibly three. It would be nice to get at least one more player, if not two.
WARNING! Be advised, this game is currently dying. What I mean is every AI has units laying siege to use and we are doing our best to keep that final blade out of our heart. We have had all of our city tiles pillaged including the iron that sits just adjacent to our devastated city. We are doing our best to push our friendly neighbors back enough to grab that iron and once again advance.
You’ve been forewarned!
Edit: Well, you might as well ignore the above. We just got defeated.
Snaproll Jan 01, 2006, 07:56 PM RB8 - Multiplayer Madness (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=150254) is still looking for alternates. Due to the nature of this game, you can expect to play quite a lot as an alternate - in fact, if you were an alternate you would be playing right now! Jump in on the first game of this kind in civ 4 history!

Subscribe to this thread if you haven't already. That way you'll be notified when a new game is posted.
fbouthil Jan 05, 2006, 05:57 PM Considering it took less than 2 hours between the last SG post and the time it was edited to say it was full, I understand Perplexity completely (interesting name considering the current situation). I only check a few times a week so I guess I got NO chances of getting lucky enough to find a SG that is not full.
There is still 2 solutions: Find an open game or start a SG myself.
Personnally, I am going to do the GOTM first, but I suggest you start one Perplexity. That way, you are sure to be in one. :)

2. Anyway now that PBEM Hotseat is up isn't it possible to just host the game on one computer rather than emailing the save all over? Or is there some logistical problem with this I am not seeing?

Leitherrse Jan 12, 2006, 02:42 PM I'm new to SGs and while I've been consistently successful at getting high-score victories on lower levels, I haven't been as successful on higher levels, or with the variant victory types. I've picked up some useful tactics, but have problems with my overall strategy. I read some posts about Training Day games, and while I don't feel totally incompetant at Prince difficulty, I would be interested in playing a SG with at least one more experience player willing to discuss their strategy and the logic behind it for a Culture, Diplomatic or Military (either domination or conquest) type vicotry, without being limited by special rules. Let me know if anyone would be interested in leading a game like this, or if there are other new players who would be interested.
mutax2003 Jan 12, 2006, 08:19 PM http://home.freeuk.net/elloughton13/images/azquetalcb.jpg
My Dear Aztec Countrymen and Noblest Peasants: Lend me your ears!
Many uncivilized outside meddlers have befouled the name of our beloved leader Montezuma ("Uncle Monty") as a crazy lunatic, yet they fail to see him as the visionary, the military genius that he truly is. They look at us with smirks on their faces and belittled us as filthy barbarians of the Amazon, if only they had come to us as respectful friends of equal, we would have taught them the secrets to our superior astronomy, llama husbandry (animal husbandry), and banana plantation (calendar). To add further insults, they ridiculed our mighty jaguar warriors as inferior to their precious swordsmen, and had the audacity to demand tribute. Ha, they shall see the folly of their ways when they meet their untimely deaths at the edges of our obsidian swords in jungle ambushes, then we shall sacrifice their wives and children to our serpent God to atone for their sins. Brothers of the jungle, it is time for us to take up the sword and teach them a lesson to never insult our Aztec honour, and then for them to regret to ever have been born.
Ok, so here is the format I am planning to have in this SG game:
Monarch Level, Random Continent, Standard size map, default number of opponents, Ancient Era Start, Epic Setting, All Victory Conditions Enabled (but we must win by domination or conquest), Aggressive AI, Raging Barbarians
Numbers of spots on the roster: 7 (why? because it is a lucky number)
I am thinking 20 turns each for first two plays, then 10 turns each afterward. Each person will have two days (48 hours if you want to be more exact) to finish and submit their turns. If they cannot finish their turns on time, they must request a skip. If there is no update after two days, then they will lose their turn, and the person next on the roster will fill in for them.
Let me know if you want to join, then I will add your name to the roster.
Farewell and may the Serpent God Quetzalcoatl (http://www.crystalinks.com/aztecgods.html) bless you with many new healthy llamas and rich corn harvest this year.

Thormodr Jan 13, 2006, 06:31 AM I am interested in starting a SG where we would play as Barbarians. I would like to know if there is any people interested in this as well.
I am not sure of all the mods that let you play Barbarians and which one is best. I would prefer a mod where you can build anything instead of being restricted to a few build options. I was thinking Noble difficulty or posibly Prince. Standard size world. I am not sure what kind of map yet.

Maquis Jan 23, 2006, 08:20 AM We're looking for one more player to fill our roster. This is a "noob" SG, where we're all trying our first SG. No one's going to get down on you for not taking the perfect research path, or missing out on micromanagement details! The game has just started, and each player has taken one turn. We're in the process of laying down our second and mapping out future cities.

Akuma-sama Jan 23, 2006, 11:54 AM I have an idea for a SG, but my computer's just too crappy to play it (I get wierd issues involving things popping out of the unexplored darkness (like flood plains) since my video card is an ancient piece of junk [Oddly enough, I've never had crash issues...]).
Assimilators (or Borgs)
Difficulty: Prince+
Variant game
More computer players than normal
Players may not build settlers!
It's not a OCC, since you CAN have more than one town, but every town except your capital MUST be a captured one, be it from the barbs or another civ!
Possibly, a cuban isolationist-style "ships may not sail outside of culture boundaries", but... not sure if that would work ;)
I think it'd be interesting to see ;)
Snaproll Jan 24, 2006, 09:38 AM RB8 - Multiplayer Madness (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=150254) is looking for more players. Now is your chance to jump into that RB game that you've always wanted to join! This game is a great way to meet other civ players as you'll play with all of us by the end of the game. It's essentially an open format now with the involved players, so you don't really even have to worry about skips - just play as often as you can!
hamtastic Jan 24, 2006, 10:03 PM Hi there. I'm looking for players who are interested in joining an SG using the expanded Europa Europa mod. Colonel Kraken Jan 25, 2006, 08:51 AM GAME CLOSED
I had joined a succession game, but it fell through. Anyway, I would like to start up a new game. I really don't want more than 3 players so that we all get to our turns quickly. This will be a game that you don't have to worry about "mistakes" playing the game. None of us are going to worry about getting it "Just right" or the "perfect" research path or build priority. Each will take his or her turn and just plain have fun.
To give this a real "succession" flavor, I'm thinking each person will play 30 turns so that each person will be able to put an imprint on what's happening in the game. This will be a normal game speed game so that you don't have to burn 50 turns building a barrack.

FS2-The Soviet Union (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=156525)
What? The USSR lost the Cold War? Nay! We must ressurect the Worker's Paradise!! Rouse the workers, fire up the factories, to arms o People, the slave bondage of capitalism, monarchy, and the like must be brought to an end!
World Size: Large
Map: Continents
Difficulty: Prince
Sea Level: To Be Decided
Era: Ancient (Up for debate)
Speed: Normal (subject to change)
Victory Options: Domination
AI: 10-12
The Cold War was about domination. Thus, victory can only come to the USSR in this game by domination.
Variant Rules
Required Civics**
Government- Police State
Legal- Nationhood
Labor- Serfdom, Slavery, Emancipation after 1/3 populace get angry *up for debate*
Economy- State Property
Religion- Theocracy***
1) We may adopt any civics we wish until a required civic can be adopted. Once a technology is discovered that unlocks a required civic, we have 7 turns to make the switch.
** This is not a religious theocracy, more like a "The State is the Religion" type of tehocracy, or a "worship the State" type of thing.
***These civics are up for debate.
2) Religious Policy- We may not found or adopt any religions. The required Theocracy civic is too stop the spread of religions!
3) We may not build banks, the Statue of Liberty, Hollywood, or Mt. Rushmore. However, we MUST build the Kremlin! If we do not build the Kremlin, we are at war automatically with whomever built it and we must then capture it!
4) We must form a defensive pact with another civ, preferable Mad Zedong, and get them to conform to our civics. We also must conquer 3 nations and bring them into the USSR. If the nation we have a pact with will not adopt Communism, they must be destroyed.
5) Our GDP and Manufactured Goods must be #1!
6) The capitalist pigs whom reside in Washington must be destroyed!
7) There is no switching to Emancipation until public pressure forces the Chairman to make it so. The pressure builds when our capital and two largest cities have 1/3 their population in Emancipation Unhappiness.
Ex- Moscow is our largest city with 18, then Kiev with 15 and Rostov with 12.
When Moscow has 6+ unhappiness from Emancipation, Kiev 5+ and Rostov 4+, we make the switch.
Any other neat variants may be suggested.

Methos Jan 29, 2006, 08:02 PM This thread is to post about a new SG starting with a link attached to the SG thread. This thread is not meant for players to signup in or the team leader to accept them.
Please link to any new SG that is starting and let the signups be posted there, please.
ChrTh Jan 30, 2006, 08:46 AM Do you find yourself constantly trying to win games via cultural or space race victories?
Do you frequently make peace with another Civ when you have them on their heels and ready to collapse, rationalizing that you need to work on infrastructure for a few turns?
Do you leave war declarations in an SG for the next player to make?
Then you may be the candidate we're looking for at the Peacenik Re-education Camp! (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=156800)
EDIT: Roster is now full. Lurkers are always welcome. If someone else wants to start a similar game with a different Civ, they're more than welcome to use the same variant rules.
Bede Jan 31, 2006, 02:22 PM Brought to you by the Space Cadets Institute of the Idiot Academy.
This is installment two of the Space Cadets series. All map conditions (except landform) are random, all opponents are random, the nation chosen is random (excluding the Persians from SC01), the level is Monarch.
We seek a space launch victory but for this installment of the saga a variant rule is added. Before the launch SC02 must be elected UN Secretary General. The variant does not require building the UN, it just requires election as SecGen.

Veritass Feb 03, 2006, 04:51 PM Short version: Succession Game for training how to do city micro-managing.
Long version: I have lurked and watched several of these succession games, but I have never played in one. I have played ten full single-player games on various random settings up through noble level, but I know I am not getting everything out of the game that I can. Specifically, I watch the other succession games and all of the micro-managing (MM), turning this city to "no growth" and that city to "emphasize production," etc. I know that you are micro-managing even lower than that and moving citizens around and changing specialists, etc.
I hardly ever do that. I know I could be having a stronger game, and I am hoping that I can participate in a succession game that does a lot of micro-managing, along with the explanations of when and why and how this is done. Maybe the four players should be moderate newbies like me (I have played other Civ games and Alien Crossfire), and the lurkers and pros among you can have a good time flaming and critiquing us. :mischief: Or maybe we can get two newbies, along with two skilled micro-managers to keep us in line.
For a stake in the ground, I would propose:
Map: Continents
Size: TBD, probably in the middle.
Civilization: TBD, looking for suggestions to maximize the training.
Mods: Only the logging mod to make posting easier.
Players: 4 including myself.
Roster: Veritass, TBD, TBD, and TBD.
Post your thoughts over the weekend, and let's get started next week. Thanks. :goodjob:

chriseay Feb 08, 2006, 12:53 PM I've been playing around with this one in private games, and I wanted to see if anyone was interested in such a thing.
- All flatland, non forest non resource tiles must be farmed if they can be.
- We must start with agriculture or research it immediately.
- Through some combination of great people, Oracle, and research we must get Civil Service asap. I'd be up for setting some hard and fast rules for what we could and couldn't do off the beeline if anyone has ideas. The way I've been working it in my private games has been to get Code of Laws with the Oracle, and then when the prophet comes in nab Civil Service. This precludes you from researching Masonry though, because that will open up Monotheism and then Theology.
- There will be another semi beeline to Biology, but I am unsure on how restrictive it needs to be. That is something else that would be up for discussion if anyone wants to play the game.
I have some other ideas, but I'd like to know if there is any interest before starting a thread. If there is, I'll open it and we can discuss. :)

I'd be interested - massive populations, lots of Great People, and lots of SLAVERY! Ahem, I mean Nationalism. Just so you know, I've only played above Prince once (which was winning Domination in the recent Monarch-level GOTM3), and it would be my first SG.

Veritass Feb 24, 2006, 09:18 AM Has anyone tried a focus for a succession game of making a society of Great Persons? Maybe a requirement that you can win on any style, but you have to have created at least twenty Great Persons, including at least three each of Great Artist, Great Scientist, Great Merchant, Great Prophet, and Great Engineer. Obviously this would have to be on a larger map and game where you could have several cities that were Great Person pumps. There is no requirement on what you use the Great Persons for, only that you must create a certain amount of them.
Is this even feasible (or possibly too easy and the numbers should be higher)? Which ruler should be chosen? I apologize that RL issues mean I cannot play this game, but I just had the idea and I thought someone else might want to run with it. I might try it for my next single game, and I wanted to see if anyone had input on it. Thanks.

Hi JerichoHill,
Unfortunately, you can't use this thread to "place your quarter on the Street Fighter game", i.e. ask to be in the next game. Games happen at random and some of the starters don't post in here.
Here's what I recommend:
--Subscribe to this thread so that any new games that pop up you'll be notified about*
--Glance through the games below. Anything that has 20 posts or less may still be looking for players. Make sure you read the description carefully because some of the games have stringent requirements for joining. Check back every day or so, you're bound to find an open one
--There's a couple Planning Threads out there, usually rosters are built in advance for games in them. Again, make sure you qualify before volunteering.
Good luck!
*I apologize to subscribers of this thread who came and visited because this post notified them

GreyFox Mar 13, 2006, 01:16 AM b]Background[/b]
After World War II, the UN imposed a sauction against Japan, disallowing it to develop military power. As it is, Japan is allowed to maintain a sizeable force enough for its self-defense.
Variant Rule of the Game
We would play as Japan, and based on the above background, the main varaint for this SG will be: Japanese military units cannot set foot outside a friendly border.
Based on this main theme, here are the rules:
(1) During peace time, all military units can only end its movement within Japanese border, or any other nation's border with whom we have an Open Border agreement. Troops within a transport is an exception.
(2) We cannot declare war on others. We cannot declare war when asked by other Civ, unless the target victim is already at war with at least two other Civs (This simulate Japanese sending its troops to the Gulf War), or unless we have a defensive pact (in which case war is automatic).
We may, however, decide that Japan is strong enough to disregard the UN sauctions and declare war on everybody and never sign peace.
(3) When at war, military troops are allowed to move out.
(4) Troops are allowed to move into barb city to attack. With rule (1), this means that the barb city must be close by so that a military unit can start its movement from a friendly city and end its movement in the barb city within the same turn. If troops in the barb city razed the city, they must move back to a friendly border as soon as possible.
(5) Scouts, Explorers, Settlers, Workers, Missionaries, Spies are considered non-military unit. Work Boats and any form of transport vessel are considered non-military unit as well.

GreyFox Mar 27, 2006, 09:24 AM I am bored, and down to 2 SGs. So I figured I can start a new one ...
Acknowledgement
This idea was inspired by Chaos SG (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=159531) by Munterpipe and an earlier Civ3 SG LotR8b (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=60782).
Background
We are a mindless tribe of minions with absolutely no goal in life ... except to worship the RNG (Random Number Generator) God. RNG, in fact, dictates everythng in a Civ4 game, from combat outcome to whether you have resources near your capital. So, this SG is an ultimate tribute to Him.
The Game
After the first round of turnsets, we will start praying to the RNG God on what to do next. RNG God will then tell us, by means of a dice roll, what is our next objective. We will do our best to fullfill the objective to aplease the RNG God.
The Variant
We will, under no circumstances, discuss among ourselves what vioctory conditions to aim for, and how to achieve victory. We may (and should) discuss how to achieve the current objective as decreed by the RNG God.
Other Finer Details
The following are some of the ideas to be discussed by players.
Game Settings
I am thinking of randomizing most of the game setting, from player's civ, leaders to map type. However, I will restrict map size to large or standard.
To make sure this is doable, I am thinking of trying this out with Noble difficulty, but with raging barbarian turned on.
The RNG God's List of Objectives
The basic idea is to roll 2 dices, and dependng on the roll, one objective will be decreed. This is the list of objectives I come out with, not finalized, can be tweaked once players are confirmed.
Dice Roll Objective
---------- ---------
1, 1 Start a Golden Age
1, 2 Build a Wonder (World/Project/National)
1, 3 Generate a Great Person (can be via tech research)
1, 4 Amass N+1 times our current gold (N = number of cities)
1, 5 Learn a tech that enables a wonder or a religion
1, 6 Learn a tech in the next age or future tech
2, 2 Capture cities from 3 different Civs (including barbarian)
2, 3 Capture or found 3 more cities
2, 4 Capture or found a holy city with shrine
2, 5 Capture or found a new city with a World Wonder
2, 6 Ensure at least 3 Civs are at war (need not be us)
3, 3 Eliminate a Civilization
3, 4 Connect a new reources
3, 5 Get a unit with 25 exp
3, 6 Capture a city with new resources
4, 4 Build a World Wonder
4, 5 Kill 10 enemies
4, 6 Learn a Tech that allows new unit
5, 5 Capture a size 10 city
5, 6 Learn a Tech no one knows
6, 6 Get something for free (peace treaty is ok) from other Civ
Note that the probability of these objectives are different (those with same numbers is half the probability of those with different numbers).
Fulfiling/Failing an Objective
Once we fullfil an objective, the dice is rolled again to get a new objective
I am thinking of limiting each objective to 30 turns. If we fail to achieve the objective, we are punished. The punishment may be (1) gift a city. (2) whip all cities, or (3) disband the strongest unit in each city,
Players
Looking for 4-5 more players to join me in this crazy game. No qualifications, excep must have fun. :)

friskymike Apr 09, 2006, 04:24 PM FM01 Team Barbarian OCC (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=166443)
Our city-state of anarchists will have as little to do as possible with the decadent so-called "civilisations" of the world. We hanker for a world led by the so-called "barbarians" where man can truly be free from the chains of the the nation-states.
Goal: Win by Team Barbarian, excluding Conquest
Civilisation: Elizabeth of the English (financial, philosophical)
Teamed with the Barbs!
World: Normal size / Epic speed / Pangea / Raging barbs / OCC / Prince difficulty
Opponents: random, 1 less than normal (to provide more room for barb spawning)
Game Notes: As this is an OCC, any cities we capture will auto-raze. Therefore we need to be in position to help our team-mates to capture cities without destroying the last defender ourselves. Barbarians share our technologies for their built units (as opposed to spawned units) so building a tech lead would obviously be advantageous! As the Barbarian Team we initially start off in contact with and at war with all players, but normal diplomacy is possible after this.

The power of commerce over production
The basic rule is we will not build mines and are not allowed work any tiles with two or more hammers. Commerce and Food should always have priority over production. Production deficits can be made up through whipping, drafting or buying.
Many higher level games can be won by outproducing the AI. We will show the power of commerce and that games can be won with loads of commerce instead of hammers.
Roster
1. Remconius
2. efendi
3. karr1255
4. Asperger
5. Chrono285
6. Open
7. Open
There are still a few open spots. The game will start in a few days. We will be play Civ4 - Warlords.

LlamaCat Oct 30, 2006, 03:53 PM Hi is there a new game starting for Vanilla Civ (or a mod like CivGold - I have several mods downloaded) that I can join or any interest to start one? I am only about Noble player and would like to play with a few others to learn and of course have fun! I don't know how to start a SG game really so someone else take the reins and I'll sign up. Any kind of variants are welcome, I just don't have Warlords.
pholkhero Oct 30, 2006, 04:08 PM It's not hard to start a game. Just post the specifications in first post adn wait for sign-ups. You're now the 3rd person looking for a noble level game ~ if i started it, would you play?
LlamaCat Oct 30, 2006, 04:17 PM Yes pholkhero, absolutely - just wasn't sure if I should be the one starting. I'm in anytime - I can play early and often for my turns. It doesn't have to be Noble level game, I will try anything if others will accept that I suck on anything above Noble in single-player games.

Immaculate Nov 03, 2006, 05:08 AM Does everyone remember this?
I'm thinking of starting a concurrent succession game. What does that mean? In the Chaos game that we are playing (see sig at bottom), I'm the prankster and I marked 3 players as 'up', basically joking around with the roster. Well, they took that literally and all three played the next ten rounds and then left it to me to decide which was the official round. That got me thinking ...
In golf, there is a team game (2 v 2) where everyone tees off and the team plays the next shot from the location of the best ball. For example, Player 1, Team 1 hits a drive 300 meters. Player 2, Team 2 hits a drive 350 meters. For the next shot, both Players 1 and 2 would hit from the location of Player 2s ball. They would then take the best of those shots and play their 3rd shot from that location.
So, a concurrent succession game would involve a team of 5 or 6 all playing each round (including write up) and then deciding which was the best save. Then that save would form the basis of the second round - again, everyone plays the round but from the selected save.
This sort of game would be slower but it would enable everyone to compare their round with each others. There are a few issues that would need to be discussed before we start ...
how do we decide which is the 'best' save - we would need a scoring method
early exploration would need directional constraints so that we don't benefit from revealed map info
timing - I was thinking 4 days to play and write up, 1 day to post, 2 days to decide which save is 'best' (maybe play / write Sat-Tue, post Wed, discuss Thur, vote Fri)
other issues?
So - is there any interest out there for a concurrent succession game?
Parameters ...
Prince or Monarch (depending on feedback), standard size / speed, map - either Islands or Archipelago, all else random
I've been thinking (for awhile actually), about a variant on this well-inspired theme. The difference is that when the second team is ready to play, they don't have to all play the same save. The person can individually choose which of the first team's player's save they would like to continue.
We will be playing a multi-thread concurrent succession (MTCSG) (name suggested by Frankcor)!
Instead of discussing which you think is the best game and deciding which one to play as a team, you discuss it, but ulimately choose which one you want to play individually and as part of your write-up, you can discuss the strengths of the previous play and why you decided to build on that one.
So then multiple streams could form, and various strategies that could take more then one player-round to complete could come to fruition before being abandoned/built-on. I think it would encourage people to take long-shot gambles and we would get some very creative play.
Here's an example of how play would proceed.
Assume players A, B, C, and D are part of the first team and players M, N, O, and P are part of the second team.
Players A, B, C, and D would play the first save, then players M, N, O, and P would be free to choose which of those player's games they would like to play. The following turn, players A, B, C, and D could choose any amongst the 2nd turn M, N, O, and P saves to play.
After the first round,
Player M may have liked the way player B decided upon an early war and wanted to capitilize on that by fighting an extended war.
Player N may have liked how player C built a particular wonder and decided to build infrastruce complementary to that wonder.
Player O may have liked how player B went to war but decided that the war has gone on long enough and wants to consolidate the position gained by player B.
Player P may decide that he/she likes the way player D got two religions and wants to try and get a third.
Now, after the second round, the first round of players are free to choose which of the second round of saves they want to use.
Player A may want to continue the war begun by players B and M and now wants to continue that war even further.
Player B may want to continue the cosolidation begun by player O and now wants to return to more war.
Player C may like the nice plan that he/she and player N are doing in relation to their wonder and wants to keep specializing their civ that way.
Player D may want to try and consolidate the 3rd religion gained by player P and now try and spread some missionaries.
Eventually, up to 4 different parallel worlds/stories could exist at once, but during any round, an old parallel story could collapse and a new one arise/branch from another of the existing ones.
I would like to play this on Emperor (or Monarch) depending on player interest. I think the alternative series that would begin to parallel will pretty much prevent us from being eliminated.
If Ruffhi wants to start it, i would be honoured if he would include it in the Ruff series (it is his baby after all), otherwise, i will start it myself. (EDIT: I will be starting the game myself- heck: its started- so jump on in- the water's fine)
EDIT:
So, we should try to get 8 players. A-team (i pity 'da fool!) and B-team will be determined once we fill the roster.
ROSTER:
1. Immaculate
2. Frankcor
3. remconius
4. open
5. open
6. open
7. open
8. open
Any ideas for a potential leader? I would like to try Hatsheput, but i am just throwing an idea out there. It might be a lot of fun to play a spiritual civ to allow different players to try different strategies that involve civic changes without penalizing them unfairly.
Game starts here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=4718831#post4718831)
frankcor Nov 03, 2006, 09:20 AM Sign me up! (for a multi-threaded concurrent succesion - MTCSG?)
remconius Nov 03, 2006, 09:42 AM I'll join as well. Sounds like a fun educational challenge.
Question:
Do the 4 players of A-team (I love it when a plan comes together) play first followed by the 4 of team B picking up their preferred save of the A-team members (Hannibal, BA, Murdoch and Face). Or do Team A and B compete against each other?
Spiritual is probably a good idea given the fact that the best civics will not be discussed but chosen by each player.
