Cause my last pbem is doing a bit slow I decided to start a new one. Settings are: 5 civs, small world, pangea and normal environment.
Only condition is that you take your time to check your mail and do a turn within 24 hours. plz post in here when you've done your turn.
The first 4 who send me their e-mail address and their civ are in!

I recommend you to set a password. You can do that during the game when you press ALT + D.

PS: I've heard of some bugs when you load the savefile directly from the Mail Inbox. So we better load it from the game's main menu.

File sent to Affo. BTW I work swing shift from 1pm to 9:30pm pacific time.. perhaps we can figure out good times to each do/send our turns so that it fits with all our schedules, and we can have the best turnaround time. I can do my turns after 9:30pm or before 1pm PST each day.

that's a good idea Gargamel. I'd better asked you which timezone you have before starting the game, so I could have figured out the best turn order. :rolleyes:
Anyway, too late now. I can do my turns almost every day between 2pm and 12pm. (GMT +1)

I work during the afternoon/evening most days, so before 1 and after 10 is good for me any day of the week(I'm in EST), I keep pretty current on my e-mail address, so I'll make it a point to play as soon as I receive the e-mail from bob.

I just loaded the save.. it asked me to enter PW for ackum ???... it's named ackum_to_gargamel... I entered my password thinking that maybe it just had the names wrong, and after a few seconds it logged me into ackum's save. I quit ASAP.

Maybe it needs to be resent? Or Ackum needs to redo his turn?

edit: tried redownloading and loading from another directory.. still the same problem.

edit #2: tried loading the save from the directory instead of loading up Civ4 1st.. same problem.

It was my fault, sorry. I forgot it automatically saves it in a particular folder in the PBEM directory...for some reason, I saved the game manually to a different folder and sent it to Gargamel, which I guess doesn't work.

Sorry, I hadn't bothered posting since the 1st turn since I figured we didn't need to do that. As soon as I see them in my inbox, I usually play them and then send them out right after, so I hope there hasn't be a time issue at all with me.

It's been all good as far as I know Polaris.. I think that's the way most everyone does it.. check the inbox, if there's saves, play em and send em out.

I will be out of town for the Thanksgiving extended weekend beginning Wednesday, Nov 23rd, and returning Sunday, Nov. 27th.

The good news is, I may actually be able to take turns during that time - I've found drivers that allow my laptop to play it. The bad news is, I don't have enough test time to verify the game's stable enough to play yet. I'm going to try it and see how it goes. No promises. :S

I'm sorry to tell you this, but I've got the patch now and you can open the saves no longer if you set an administrator pw (and I did). Have you all got the patch?
Then I propose to start a new game with Herandar inplace of Gargamel. We could set the turnorder by concerning everyone's timezone for faster playing.

My timezone is GMT +1. Now you have the chance to change your civ if you want to ;)
I prefer random civ this time.

As no one ever reacted I call this game dead.
I don't want to continue a game where there's no fun, because it looks like the players don't care and are quickly bored with the game. Don't play PBEM's if you have the patience!
