View Full Version : Xbox360 fever?
SlayerofDeitys Nov 17, 2005, 09:24 AM Anyone else not pre-order and going to wait inline for either a midnight sale or normal store opening to try and pick up a 360? I didn't realize that they were going to be released so soon as I don't give a **** about the Xbox. Why then would I waste my time waiting in line for one? For fun of course! Well, that and the fact the I want to try and get one so I can make a tidy sum on some rich parent buying it for their spoiled brat at Christmas. Anyone else picking one up that didn't pre-order? Do you really want one or are you just seeing $$$?
Speedo Nov 17, 2005, 09:38 AM Don't want one, won't be getting one.
Tank_Guy#3 Nov 17, 2005, 09:45 AM I might get one, I have to see what PS3 is like. This sounds a little All Other Games'ish.
leonel Nov 17, 2005, 10:10 AM I MIIIIGHT get it but probably not as the only game on X360 I'm seriously interested in is ES4 Oblivion but that'd come out for the PC and I'd play the PC version more because of the mod's that would come out.
SlayerofDeitys Nov 17, 2005, 11:03 AM The games are exactly the reason I don't want one. There really is no exclusive game for the system that I want. Just like the current generation I will probably end up with a Playstation and a Nintendo. Of course if some incredible games come down the pipeline then I could change my mind. We shall have to wait and see, but if I get one next Tuesday whatever money I make will probably go towards the system I do decide to buy.
Masquerouge Nov 17, 2005, 11:06 AM I will not buy a 360. No games that I am interested in.
GrandAdmiral Nov 17, 2005, 03:05 PM I'm gonna wait till Halo 3 comes out.
Goombaz Nov 17, 2005, 03:29 PM I want one :) Pinching pennies for one as we speak, building up to it.
Quit staring at me...
Oruc Nov 17, 2005, 03:31 PM i would like to get one and a playstation3. Never liked Nintendo
Nobody Nov 17, 2005, 03:33 PM fable 2 is what i want, with the new power of the console i hope for a full civ4 or blackandwhite2 (pirates came out on xbox and so did fable which is black&whites family)
Zany Nov 17, 2005, 03:40 PM I'm waiting for Nintendo Revolution. PlayStation is okay, but not great. Xbox is usually hit-or-miss for me. And anyway, from what limited knowledge I have, both PS3 and Xbox360 don't have many games ready for released along with the console. Battlefront II just came about for regular Xbox, so why do I need a whole new console when there are still brand new games to play on older systems?
Anyway, Nintendo rules!
blindside Nov 17, 2005, 05:17 PM I'm not getting one. Way to expensive and I want to wait for the PS3 which looks better.
Urederra Nov 17, 2005, 05:30 PM I have just paid 300 bucks for an ATI X800 video card to play CIV IV :D (Works wonderfully)
I have the money for a XBOx, but I am not interested, and even if I would, I won't feel right spending so much in videogames.
CoolioVonHoolio Nov 17, 2005, 06:13 PM gots ta check out da competion first!
Xen Nov 17, 2005, 06:15 PM nope, not a console gamer myself, except for starwars battlefront(I, & II), which is played with friends on my brothers PS2, because that game is teh R0XX0Rz
Kozmos Nov 17, 2005, 07:12 PM If I will have the cash,I'll buy PS3.Why you ask?MGS 4.....
Nate128 Nov 17, 2005, 07:39 PM Im obviously waiting for the rest of the competition
theim Nov 17, 2005, 08:23 PM I'm still pissed off that it doesn't come with a hard drive. If you want one of those you have to pay an extra $100 to get it and a bunch of crap I don't need. I don't need wireless controllers or some fancy headset.
Ansar Nov 17, 2005, 08:27 PM A mod will probably soon move this thread.
Bluemofia Nov 17, 2005, 09:55 PM Not getting it. (parents won't let me.)
My friend wanted to sell a picture of an X-box 360 and scam some stupid people who don't read captions, but his dad won't let him. :crazyeye:
Yes, someone did sell a picture of an X-box before it came out for 300+ dollars.
SuperSloth Nov 17, 2005, 09:59 PM id rather spend $300 on a pc upgrade.
Double Barrel Nov 17, 2005, 10:48 PM Got it pre-ordered! :D
The PS3 will be nice, but not necessarily "better" than the 360. That would be a matter of opinion and depend on your taste in games.
Fortunately, I've got a good cpu, so I don't need any upgrades.
The 360 is awesome in action. Call of Duty looks like you're playing in a movie.
Knight-Dragon Nov 18, 2005, 02:04 AM Moved to Other Games.
Smash Nov 18, 2005, 03:21 PM I have just paid 300 bucks for an ATI X800 video card to play CIV IV (Works wonderfully)

Thats an odd statement as you just spend at least $350 to play Civ4!?..1 GAME...not to mention your time and aggravation.....
Royal Nov 18, 2005, 03:28 PM Im gonna wait till the price goes down a bit
Silverflame Nov 19, 2005, 02:01 AM Actually, the Xbox 360 isn't looking as bad as I once thought. Originally, my impression was that it would inevitably lose the tech war against the PS3, which seems to be the only thing going for it. However, Hideo Kojima recently stated (http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/kojima/kojima-hurting-ps3-prematurely-137839.php) that it's possible for the Xbox 360 to run Metal Gear Solid 4 in real-time. The fact that the jaw-dropping Killzone 2 trailer at last E3 was actually a PC tech demo estimate of the power of the PS3 does not help much either. In fact, Nvdia also stated that the PS3 is already inferior to current high-rate PC software.
And then there's the rumor that the PS3 might be delayed to 2007. Just a rumor, nothing more.
I played an Xbox 360 demo at Gamestop... the controller is bland: an S-controller painted white. The graphics were impressive, but the difference between current-gen and next-gen graphics seems way smaller than the difference between the N64/PSOne and the current gen.
As for the game itself... Call of Duty 2... I'm not an FPS fan, so I don't really have an opinion. Honestly, none of the Xbox 360 launch titles interest me at all. That and the price ($400) are the real reasons why I won't get one for now... oh, and the power converter is huge.
Dell19 Nov 19, 2005, 03:36 AM The TV does need to be good enough to display the graphics.

Thanks for the info wasn't aware of quite a bit of that. On the topic of price since the 360 is $400 with all the extra toys what does everyone think the PS3 is going to be at. I honestly can't see it any less than $500 for the full package.
Silverflame Nov 20, 2005, 02:30 PM The TV does need to be good enough to display the graphics.
I'm think the demo at Gamestop was an HDTV, but I'm not positive. It doesn't matter as much as you might think, though.
The $400 package doesn't come with standard A/V cables, so if you don't have an HDTV, you're screwed. And as someone who owns two LCD HDTV's, I have to say that HDTV support is overrated. It's very nice, and it does make games look extremely beautiful. However, it in no way makes a difference as large as the color television did to the old black and white ones.
capnahdharr Nov 23, 2005, 06:07 PM Ive checked all EBGames, Gamestop(s), Best Buys, Wal-Marts, K-Marts, Targets, for the past three weeks and no sign other than a raffle for 10 360's out of about 5000+ people in one Wal-Mart alone... MICROSOFT NEEDS TO RELEASE MORE!!! I almost got my parents to let me camp out with people at my high school for one... one of them went as far as to get out of school for the day on 11/22!!!! Gahhh!!!   :nuke: :(
Aramazd Nov 23, 2005, 06:15 PM No, I am going to wait to see if it's good and then I might buy it. Otherwise I might buy a PS3
capnahdharr Nov 23, 2005, 06:38 PM Good point, best not salivate over something because it is the "release of the year" people are procliaming!
Id rather get an Improved graphics for Runescape and pay $400 for that to happen! :p
Rising Sun Nov 26, 2005, 08:32 AM Heh you guys wasting money buying that piece of junk, wait awhile then prices will drop.
No! i dont need no playstation or any entertainment center, only game i like is TES:IV and require alot of pc performances or Xbox 360. So im not paying over 400 drakes to play one game!
I rather boost my pc or put a sub-roofer over it than buying a kiddie box!
Kozmos Nov 26, 2005, 12:28 PM I heard xbox360 has overheating problems....and its buggy as hell.
777 Nov 27, 2005, 03:56 AM I think I'll wait for half a year or more if prices tend to get down I might buy it. And I still have some unfinished games with X-BOX; Ninja Gaiden something I will never get complited, Motor Forza etc. And I've heard that there are still coming few good games to X-BOX platform.
