Terribly sorry if this has already been answered, I did a search but couldn't find anything.

Is there an explanation anywhere about what the different terrain types\maps are in the MP games? What is hub and maze etc?

I can't find anything about it in the manual.

Are these the same maps that are available on single player? If they are you can start a single player game and see what they are.

They might relate to some maps in single player, but the names don't.

Someone must have compiled a list of them?

ehm, actually they are the same maps as single player.
You just need to play a custom game instead of clicking play now.
