View Full Version : Ancient Era Music: Flutes

If you like having music in all the eras, I found these Mp3's on download.com. With the simple XML changes attached you can add some quiet Native American flute music in the Ancient era (which previously had none). I found the lack of music there disconcerting; this also transitions well to the Classical era, where several of the tracks use flutes and percussion. :)

The MP3 files can be downloaded here:

Place the music under "CustomAssets\sounds\soundtrack\ancient" (create a new folder), and add the XML files to these locations:

CustomAssets\xml\audio
- Audio2DScripts.xml
- AudioDefines.xml

CustomAssets\xml\gameinfo
- CIV4EraInfos.xml

Very nice songs, good job finding them. These should fit very nicely. Thanks.

I will add that you must make sure the music saves under the default name. (Or that you edit the xml files.)

One letter difference in the filenames and I had no audio at all in the game.

Okay, I grabbed the songs from the download... and saw a few others that sound really sweet. So my question is, what do I need to do in order to make htem available as well?

Thanks.

It actually just involves copying some of the existing entries for music and editing it for the new music. Gajes explains it well:

It looks like Audio2DScripts.xml and AudioDefines.xml were modified in the 1.52 patch. Can you make this mod compatible with 1.52?

I did a CompareIt of my current files (which are working) and the ones included in the zip, they're identical...are you sure anything changed?

No, see, what I'm saying is that the patch made some changes to some other part in the two files. So since your mod uses the 1.09 version of those files, using your mod would overwrite the changes made with the 1.52 patch.

I've found the changes and I'm updating your mod with the changes the 1.52 patch made.

Changes:
AudioDefines.xml
-Line 2322
-Line 2329
-Between Lines 2544 and 2545 there is a 7 line insert
-Lines 8463-8466 (Not counting above insert)

Audio2DScripts.xml
-Between Lines 7533 and 7534 there is a 22 line insert
-Line 11717 (Not counting above insert)
-Line 11737 (Not counting above insert)

Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't have any pre-patch files saved to compare them to. I updated the files above. :)
