This is my first attempt at re-skinning. I personally use the model to represent an earlier cannon model available with the gunpowder tech. I also tried to mod the button for it, but it's buggy and shows a "!" instead of the button for e.g. current city production. :( It's included anyway (and help is appreciated). Unzip the files into the desired mod or custom assets folder under
bombard.zip: art/units
and
bombard_button.zip: art/interface/buttons/units
(See Sovarns tutorial (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=139721) on how to add.)
Update: My button is probably all fine. I think the game is a little bit buggy when it comes to handling custom buttons though. E.g. the "Lost Units" mod has exactly the same problem (on my computer at least).
Update: In-game screenshot added.

good job...
would it be possible to make cannons blow-up??... quite a lot of old cannons blew-up when they were fired the first time.
it was actually that big a problem for the danish navy at some point, that the danish king made a decree, that the first time the cannon was fired the man who were responsible for casting it had to sit on the top of it while it got fired. that could teach them to make better cannons!!

I 'm not sitting on no cannon, even if it didn't blow up I still would like to have kids
As far as editing the animation of units, currently there is no way to crack to *.nif and *.fx files. That's why no one has made a new unit yet.

This looks like it could be useful. One more of the many re-skins I've been waiting for. :D Thanks!
Don't know why the button wouldn't be working though... could be a formatting problem or a compression problem. I'll check it out when I try out the unit.

Hmmm.. is this a 1300-1700 or a 1800-1900 unit?

@Mumin: For the purpose of displaying the production in the citybar you´ll have to edit another file also, which will solve the problem with the "!". I think its called City_Bar_32 (something like that - don´t have my copy of civ4 here) and can be found in the directory ...assets\art\interface\buttons.
Sorry if the name or directory aren´t correct at all, but with this information i´m sure you´ll be able to find the right file.

Oh sorry, thought you meant the polycount.
Bronze canons are from the 1300-1700 era I believe.

would this be pre-industrial era? if so I could use this as an early cannon and have the vanilla as a later one.
