I get this message shortly after I've loaded a saved game. Then the game freezes and I have to exit.

Yeah, I've had that too. I attribute this to my old Hercules Gamesurround Fortissimo II soundcard, which sometimes acts up (failure to properly use hardware support, etc.). And no new drivers are being put forward by the company.

Is there anyway I can fix this or should I buy a new sound card? I have SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio.

It's happening with both vanilla and with the patch. The weird thing is, I can play fine when I start a new game but when I try to load a saved game it gives me the error and the game freezes. So basically I should play my civ games in one session or I can't finish them.

Is there any help? Is this because of my sound card? Have others except Ninja experienced this too?

EDIT: Could this be "the memory leak" problem?
