View Full Version : Cannot convert to "religion"
hurdy Nov 25, 2005, 06:49 AM I keep getting that message when Im trying to convert to Islam, it told me to wait 8 turns and I did and I still cant convert.
Also, when trading technologies do I lose the specific technology I trade or do I simply teach it to the Civ Im trading with?
Thanks in advance
Bast Nov 25, 2005, 07:21 AM Are any of your cities muslim?
hurdy Nov 25, 2005, 10:36 AM Nope, none of them are Muslim.
Thanks for replying.
Harry Haller Nov 25, 2005, 11:07 AM You need to have the religion in at least one of your cities to conver to it.
Some benefits of religions only operate in cities that have the specific religion. So if you convert from a religion that is in most of your cities to a religion that is only in 1 or 2 of your cities, you could really reduce the beneficial effects of religion in most of your empire.
When you trade techs with another civ, you don't lose it, you just teach it to them in exchange for something else.
Siom Jul 31, 2006, 09:27 PM Im in a different situation,
I founded islam and it was my state religion and 95% of cities were muslim.
buddhism spread to a city and after that i have lost my state religion.
I sent a muslim missionary to my buddhist city and spread islam but i still cant re-establish islam as state religion.
Any one got any ideas??

Joosty Jul 31, 2006, 09:57 PM Hurdy, trading technologies never causes you to lose a tech. It is sharing rather than trading really.
Siom, the only thing which can change your state religion is you, the player, the king, the ruler, the Man with the Mouse. As long as you don't have a state religion, everytime a new religion spreads to one of your cities, the game will ask if you want to convert. If you don't convert, the religion screen is the only other way to set a state religion. Your state religion will never change on its own.

You probably switched accidentally to Buddhism. You have to wait a certain amount of turns before you can switch your religion again. (I don't know if it changes based upon game speed, it's five turns before you can change your religion again on epic speed)

Cam_H Jul 31, 2006, 10:59 PM ^ Also note that there is a United Nations resolution forcing 'the world' to adopt the Free Religion civic.

Hehe once I messed up trying for a diplomatic win. I thought I would have Qin and two others on my side versus Napoleon. But as I was finishing the UN Qin absolutely mauled the French, and became the #2. So all the sudden due to him founding the common relgion and therefore building up more +'s than I could he almost won the vote.
I used the free religion civic option (which he voted for :crazyeye: ) to wipe out that bonus for him and allow me to sway the two crucial members of our formerly confusian block. Still had to go take over some populations since Qin's votes weren't with me, but better than a loss.
Cam_H Aug 01, 2006, 01:34 AM It's hard to know which is more satisfying ... falling over the line with a Diplomatic win or watching Napoleon get mauled by Qin! Good job with the 'flexible approach'. ;)
