If the start date is decided to be Jan 1. Should we start the demogame at 12 o'clock Greenwhich Mean time.

It would be extremely cool, but I think lots of people are away all day, or doing fireworks or something around that time, so I believe it would exclude a lot of people from 'the moment'.

the game wouldnt really be started, it would be more ceremonial, so as you watch those rockets go up, you will know that a nation is born! the turnchat wont actually start then

In that case, deduct one nay vote and add one to yay for me ;)

But, you'd have to remember the 10 minute rule for New Year's Celebrations. ;) (give the DP 10 minutes to get to their computer).

Actually for a midnight GMT start, that would only apply if the DP lives in that timezone.

Or we can elect a DP who is underage, and the rest of us can [party].

I think I'm out of my league now. I always thought I was a CivFanatic but I don't think I'm enough of a fanatic to be playing Civ on New Year's Eve!

I can hear your boo's already, but I voted "We shouldn't start on the first or at midnight" because IMHO we should start when we are ready! (When everything is in place and the constitution and all other laws are done and polled) Sorry for not being a good sport here  but that's more important for the demogame than the "date of birth"

the constitution should be ready in a month. the elections should be carried out too. its shameful if we arent ready in a month

Heh, you guys are great seriously, but there is no way that I am going to be anywhere near this forum around New Years. I plan on being/getting drunk while wearing a funny hat around that time. :king:

Seconded (and hopefully in the company of a lovely young lady as well!)

We could pull off starting on January 2nd. Or December 29th.

Actually thinking back on it we did it the 2nd or 3rd of January the last time it came out at the beginning of the year. How about we don't worry about it right now, and make it up to the new President to decide when creation day is... ;)

It's not shameful, it's just natural! :p
Personally I prefer not having a deadline but having a general agreement on major parts of the DG like the law and the organization of the government. Therefore I favor debate before I favor a fixed-date! Flexibility please, Ladies and Gentlemen! ;)

And I second DaveShack! :)

Why not the weekend after the first?

Well, midnight GMT on 010106 is not midnight (or even night) for all. It can be possible, but much (too much??) depends on the first player.

DaveS: I thought we started DG4 at 010104, but I checked and it was the 4th of January.

I vote for Jan 4th, but hold elections before new year. Jan 4th allows people to get home from traveling, shake of hang-over and get back into it!
