What do you think is the best foot unit for EA Games' The Battle for Middle Earth?
I personally think it is the Elves, for Rohan. I send them into masses of orcs and uruk-hai and they come out in fairly good health.
Also, I try not to send them into massive enemy armies unless they are completely upgraded (i.e. Heavy Armor, Forged Swords, Flaming Arrows, and I forget the last one).

I do love my free orcs, and send hundreds of them into battle at once. Good times.
I can't really think of a specific foot unit, though I did have a fondness for the Gondor rangers in the main campaign. Am more of a cavalry man myself, with plenty of towers for defence.

Gondorian or Rohirric, and I like the trebuchet towers. I also completely upgrade the Tower Guard, change to the second formation, and place them right in the middle of the doorway. Enemies attack them instead of my buildings. And in the second formation (can't remember what it's called) they are nearly impossible to kill, unless you have a troll or mumakil (the elephants).

I am a Gondor guy. In most of my games i'll play gondor, because the tower gaurd are just so amazing. One of my favorite strategies with them is put them in shield wall formation (+75% Armour - ?% speed) and use them as a decoy for the enemies archers. I send them ahead of my army and as soon as the enemy archers start fireing, put em in shield wall, and charge with my cavalry.

I have to agree with jafink. The tower guards are the best. They can last a while for only being several soldiers. They also prevent enemy foot and cavalry units from reaching the archers and rangers. I just love the shield wall formation.
