To aid in guiding parties/citizen groups to support certain civics, I have made a list of some ideologies and their most likely civic choices. If there is more than one choice for a civic, the choices will be listed in <> brackets. Ideology names are in bold and underlined, civic names are in bold only, except when there is more than one choice, in which they will also be in italics.

Soviet Communism: Police State, Bureaucracy, Emancipation, State Property, Paganism (to represent lack of religion; there really should have been an “Atheism” civic!)
Chinese Communism: Police State, Nationhood, Emancipation, <State Property, Free Market> (Chinese system under Mao Zedong vs. Chinese system today), Free Religion
Democratic Socialism (aka Social Democracy): <Representation, Universal Suffrage>, <Bureaucracy, Free Speech>, Emancipation, State Property, <Pacifism, Free Religion>
Democratic Capitalism: <Representation, Universal Suffrage>, Free Speech, Emancipation, Free Market, <Pacifism, Free Religion>
Fascism (the Italian variety): Police State, Nationhood, Serfdom, <State Property, Free Market> (either one because in Italian Fascism, industries had the opportunity to make laws), Free Religion
Nazism: Police State, Nationhood, Slavery, <Free Market, Environmentalism> (the Nazis were violently pro-Capitalist, anti-Communist, but also wanted environmental policies), Free Religion
{Insert your favorite monotheistic religion here} Fundamentalism: <Hereditary Rule, Police State>, Vassalage, <Slavery, Serfdom>, Mercantilism, Theocracy
Feudalism: Hereditary Rule, Vassalage, Serfdom, Decentralization, Organized Religion

These are just a few of the 3125 combinations for civics possible in Civ IV. I hope this helps someone. :D

I agree this is an interesting list. Hopefully it won't result in any forays into off-topic discussions about the actual ideologies. ;)

great list HG! a suggestion is that you change the soviet communism from paganism to theocracy but with no state religon. that way the people are forced to not have relgion.

I fail the see the utility of this list... exept perhaps start flame wars about those ideologies or any ideologies that might be missing...

I believe his point was to state just some of the many, many, many combinations of civics that you can have, that have been seen in real life.

My post had no malicious intentions. Alphawolf is correct in that I was only showing the more common, or more commonly heard about ideologies.
