Today's news: The ACC beat the Big 10 again, but the gap is closing.
I went to the UVA - Northwestern game tonight. Though beating NU at home is nothing special, I've been pleasantly surprised with our team so far this year. They aren't that talented (we only have 9 scholarship players, two of which are injured and one of which probably won't be back), but Coach Leitao has at least put some fire, intensity, and discipline into the team that sorely lacked them during the later Gillen years.
Ginger_Ale Dec 01, 2005, 05:10 AM The Duke and Indiana game last night was great - Duke started out 16-2 but gave up part of the lead, down to around 5 points for most of the game. Each team had 10 turnovers 10 minutes into the game :crazyeye: ... probably all the excitement. Duke ended up winning in the late game (and furthered the lead with some free throws - god the last 2 minutes takes FOREVER). Good game overall though.
shortguy Dec 01, 2005, 12:12 PM I remember watching the 11-0 Indiana run where they went up one in the 2nd half and thinking that Duke just fell asleep on offense. It was about the laziest and worst offensive effort that I've ever seen from them. The just did nothing at all but throw up lousy shots late in the clock for 3 or 4 minutes, at least.

Blue Devils Baby
Coach K left the freshman Paulus in during that run to see how he'd handle the pressure.
BTW only unbeaten team in all the ACC/BIG TEN challanges---DUKE

I thought Paulus was supposed to be 'Super-Guard' :mischief: . I didn't
think Vitale would ever shut-up about him vs Michigan St  .
How far do you think the Devils will go this yr? What about the Heels?
I know my Deacons will fall out about the 1st or 2nd round of the tourney  .

Paulus is fine, slowly he is taking Dockery's minute, I think he was put to the test by the coach--tight game, on the road--what do you got? played poorly for about 3-4 minutes when Indiana tied it, but played well down the stretch.
I think Duke is a final 4 team
Heel's kids looked o.k.--no outside shooting will hurt them. Got several good players coming next year, they will be alright.
wake needs someone other than Gray at point.
dgfred Dec 01, 2005, 01:50 PM I agree with you about both Carolina and Duke ;) . Wake has been experimenting with Gray on the wing some, but with a freshman point
guard  . He pumped in 37 the other day :goodjob: .

Gray was turning the ball over a lot--not a natural point guard

I know  , he is more of a slasher/shooter. Plus the entire team lacks
either defensive ability or knowledge  . Wisconson nearly got 90 pts
on them.

ACC a 2 horse race, DUKE & BC
Georgia Tech, Wake, Carolina all gutted by Grads and NBA jumpers ( all got good young players--key word young )

Duke will go pretty far this year, I think. When I watched the UNC-Illinois game a while back, I was pretty impressed by the Tar Heels for a team with not too many seniors. I want to see how well the BC Eagles do this year for a change in the ACC. Kansas vs. Nevada on tonight on ESPN2 at 9.
Red Door Dec 01, 2005, 06:34 PM From that UNC game, Marcus Ginyard impressed me a lot. Me and my dad
(were both huge UNC fans) used to walk down the street to see him play at Bishop O'Connel high school. Anyway he played pretty well. He should go far.

Yep, all our starters from last year left.
We'll be awesome in a couple of years, though. :)

I root for your guys some- my mom's name is Zan and my last name is
Frederick- so distant cousin and all :crazyeye: .

Kansas kinda sucks, don't they?
Red Door Dec 02, 2005, 11:49 AM They dont suck, but they're not as good as last year.
Anyway Nevada won 72-70.
I'm not surprised. I think Nevada will go to Sweet Sixteen this year.

That guy for Nevada was 'jammin' :goodjob:

And last year they lost to Bucknell in the first round:lol:
Red Door Dec 02, 2005, 01:36 PM Bucknell will crack the top 25 this year. I can guarentee that. I've seen them play live and they look pretty good.
BTW, my dad went to Bucknell.
pawpaw Dec 03, 2005, 01:06 PM Good win for the Heel's
downtown Dec 03, 2005, 01:47 PM bah! american kill own bucknell, twice!
PATRIOT LEAGUE, what what?
GO EAGLES
Red Door Dec 03, 2005, 03:21 PM Big, Big win for Heels. Should put them in top 25.
And MattBrown, what are you saying. Because last time I checked, Bucknell won the Patriot League last year. Am I correct?
Azale Dec 11, 2005, 04:25 PM Strange team this Duke team is, took a miracle shot to beat V-Tech....then beats down #2 Texas by around 30 points.
Thier not a solid number one like North Carolina & UConn in the last few years were, could make for a very exciting tournament in March.
pawpaw Dec 11, 2005, 04:31 PM This Duke team isn't explosive like other Duke teams, it prevents them from putting teams away AKA Virginia Tech, they will have more games where lesser teams hang around in games where Duke leads all game long but doesn't dominate. The upside is all those freshman will get better all season long. Duke will be better in March than November.

er....yes. i meant to type that american WILL own bucknell. not kill. kill doesnt really make much sense
dgfred Dec 14, 2005, 07:29 AM Wake's 21 home game win streak went down the tubes last night vs
Depaul  . They played like crap after a 10 day layoff due to exams.
Depaul played well though, even though they lost a 10 pt lead with about
4 minutes left in the game. :goodjob: Depauls coach is a former Demon
Deacon assistant.
