The thing i am asking is how to get the most balanced game possible. By balanced i mean that your chance of success doesnt depend too much on chance, thus you can play a fairly challenging game till the end.
Maps:
I found Terra and Highland maps to be the best from balance level.
Continents and Archipelagos have a too huge chance factor, which can easily make your game either too easy or impossible.
Title Axis or Ice age are basically like Terra.
Difficulty:
Emperor. This level is reasonale (ie you dont need to micromanage), while still be pretty challenging.
Other custom settings:
1) Raging Barbarians. Balance the game a lot at emperor game. Make expension resonable.
2) Agressive Civs. Better not too choose. Agressive Civs reslly sucks (They are dumb and take forever to research). You will have no problem to win agaisnt them (if you dont get alexander adn cesar close to you ;)).
