View Full Version : Problem with the sav file of GOTM1... Flower Dec 04, 2005, 03:58 PM Hi all, I saved the file for GOTM1 in my sid4/saves/single folder and it doesn't recognize the file as a Saved Game. What am I doing wrong??? madviking Dec 04, 2005, 04:20 PM are you at v1.09? Flower Dec 04, 2005, 08:33 PM Yes I'm at v1.09! Dairuka Dec 04, 2005, 08:44 PM You may have a different version of the game. {Modded, Patched/Unpatched, European/American, etc.} Or, a problem occured when you were downloading it, corrupting some of the data and thus making it unreadable. Try redownloading it, try reverting to original Civ 4, and if it does not work then - I'd suggest lamenting, and praying to your god of choice for a benevolent miracle so you can play your darned GOTM! The Duff Man Dec 04, 2005, 08:46 PM I had this problem, had to rename it and change the file extension. I think Civ3 it was .SAV but for Civ4 it is something longer, .Civ4SavedGame or something like that (not at my home computer to check) Flower Dec 06, 2005, 07:15 PM Ok, I renamed the file with the extension .Civ4SavedGame and now the file is like other saves. Now, I open my game, try load game and the save file isn't there! WTF IS THAT?? EDIT : I resaved the game, renamed and tried again and it worked. Whatever!!! Bael Dec 11, 2005, 03:09 AM Ok, I had the same problem with the GOTM save file. This is what worked for me. I renamed the save file to something.civ4SavedGame like all other civ4 savegames... But still civ 4 couldn't find it. So I started it in win XP with civ 4 and then the game starts and the savegame starts and you don't have to do anything... Hope this was helpfull. Please watch yor language. Shillen Dec 11, 2005, 06:22 AM I would guess that the file wasn't in the correct directory. It should be in the my documents/my games/civ4/saves/single/ directory. Of course you can browse directories in the game when loading a save but easier to put it in the default directory. Rowro Jan 08, 2006, 10:05 AM I really need some help. I have tried renaming the file .civ4savedgame and have made sure that the file is in civ4/saves/single/ directory. I have also browsed the game and tried starting it in win XP with civ 4 and still I can't find the game. What am I doing wrong?? Shillen Jan 08, 2006, 10:11 AM What error do you get when you run the sav file from windows? Rowro Jan 08, 2006, 10:25 AM None, the game starts up but I still can't find the game AlanH Jan 08, 2006, 10:33 AM What version of Civ4 are you running? Have you patched it to version 1.52? Are you editing the name of the file with full visibility of the extensions? Make sure that your Tools/Folder Options/View checkbox is set to show all file extensions. [PS] I assume you are trying to play GOTM 02? GOTM 01 was the original subject of this thread, but submissions for that game are now closed. Rowro Jan 08, 2006, 10:47 AM I have tried something else and I am getting this message "the save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed" ? "Error- Failed loading file" AlanH Jan 08, 2006, 10:50 AM That's good news, surprisingly :) It means your Civ4 software is reading the file. Now you'll have to email me at gotm_submit@ civfanatics.net, and I'll send you the unprotected version of the file since the protected one is not compatible with your Civ4 setup for reasons that are only partly understood and too complex to explain ... |
