View Full Version : Poll: Favorite Leader part 2 (Greece - Spain)
Cyrillin Dec 05, 2005, 03:36 PM Well it doesn't seem like it, but I've been playing Civ 4 for over a month now. I'm starting to develop habits and favorites, as I'm sure you are. I was wondering, who is your favorite leader so far? Vote and then post a reply on why you like them, strategies you use with them and also info about the type of games you play with them (difficulty, map type, victories you aim for, etc.)
Polls are limited to 20 options, so I split the list in half. This is the thread for Greece - Spain, if you're favorite is one of the others, vote on this thread: Poll: Favorite Leader part 1 (America - Germany) (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=146025).
Please do not vote on both
VilleDick Dec 05, 2005, 03:46 PM I'm a fan of Ghandi, I like the no anarchy and the Industrious traits. I also like the Fast Worker UU because I can build up my infrastructure quickly and boost my economy faster than other civs. I'm usually a peaceful builder type and the spiritual/industrious allows me to do that. Plus with his starting techs you can usually found an early religion. I've been playing noble games with random leaders right now and have not found the success that I've had with Ghandi.
tigerden27 Dec 05, 2005, 03:54 PM I said Ghandi, just because the games I played as him tended to be very easy. So far I've played with Random Leaders and haven't found any of them to be bad.
wilierthanu Dec 05, 2005, 04:02 PM where is Bismark?!!!!
Taelis Dec 05, 2005, 04:08 PM Bismark's in the other thread.
My favorite is Isabella. With a seafood start she can grab Hinduism and Judaism while the city grows, and research twice as quickly thanks to the commerce from the sea.
Being spiritual allows me to choose the best civic for each phase of the game, and expansive means much faster expansion, with half-priced graneries for REALLY fast growth, growing into larger cities thanks to her religion and health bonuses, with no worries about fresh water.
picus Dec 05, 2005, 04:53 PM I like Catherine. Two good traits and a solid UU, plus she's pretty. :)
Oggums Dec 05, 2005, 06:30 PM I voted in the other thread, but my second favorite is Alexander. The phalanx is such an awesome, early nuisance unit to go out on a razing spree with. With aggressive and barracks, you're just one kill away from March!
I play him just like the AI does: see neighbor, attack.
Royal Dec 05, 2005, 08:29 PM Alexander is my best
Liquidated Dec 05, 2005, 09:41 PM As well as voting Cathrine as favorite leader to play, I like playing against Cathrine as well. She's just so pretty when she's mad! If you never seen her angry with your civ, she actually smacks the screen around.... my kinda woman!
Cheers!

AmnesiaA Dec 05, 2005, 09:46 PM I used to love Gandhi--I still do, he's my no.2 favorite--but after playing Caesar, and kicking the world's ass before 500AD, my mind has changed.
Zombie69 Dec 05, 2005, 09:48 PM The Incans for the Quechua rush, though as i go up in difficulty level, this will probably become less of an option. They also have 2 of my 4 favorite leader traits (aggressive and industrious, the others being philosophical and financial).
diamond geezer Dec 06, 2005, 05:25 AM Those fast workers are really useful. Ghandi is without doubt the best option for a peaceful victory. Not sure how he stands up at higher difficulties if you have, say Alexander, as your next door neighbour...
cfacosta Dec 06, 2005, 07:54 AM Without a doubt....Caesar
Samson Dec 06, 2005, 09:04 AM I voted for inca, because of the overwelming power of the Quechua rush. Very hard to argue with getting an enemy capital for the investment of 4 - 5 wariors.
My other favourates are India, mostly for the 33% increase in the rate of forest choping, and Maui Maui for the traits.
tigerden27 Dec 06, 2005, 09:10 AM I like Catherine. Two good traits and a solid UU, plus she's pretty. :)
Isn't that the perfect reason to (hopefully) play against her?
Gufnork Dec 06, 2005, 09:12 AM Since Quechuas are a force to be reckoned with against he AI for a long, long time thanks to their effectiveness against archers for their cost and them being the only financial civ that starts with mysticism (if you think Spain on a lake is good, try Inca by oasis or with wines) I have to claim Inca as my overall favorites.
Gr3yL3gion Dec 06, 2005, 03:02 PM Mongols-Genghis Khan.
anton_z1 Dec 07, 2005, 12:12 AM I ALWAYS play with Quin. How come he is not on the list (mmm maybe he sucks !!!! must think about that).
