View Full Version : Earth scientist now working on Tech B-4, silk-steel Lefty Scaevola Jan 18, 2002, 03:08 PM Datalink: http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20020117/sc/science_spiderweb_dc_1.html ajohn505 Jan 19, 2002, 07:53 PM Ah... thanks for the post. Now we just need to get some earth scientists working on B12: Matter Ediatation so we can build Clinical Immortality. Mr Spice Feb 06, 2002, 03:58 AM Just be patient, it will come I promise you. Not immortality, perhaps, but life-prolonging treatments. Genetic engineering, you know. (I am planning on making my future research on the subject.) :D Mr Spice Feb 06, 2002, 05:27 AM When reading my post again it does not sound very good. I guess this is one of the occasions when it is only too obvious that English is not my first language. How embarrasing. Lefty Scaevola Feb 06, 2002, 08:22 AM As for clinical immortality, Old age appears to be not a basic design function of multicellular animals, but rather a side effect of various genetic & cellular chemistry mechanisms that inhibit cancer, The evolutionary demand that created old age was that you not die of cancer before you successfully reproduce. Thus there is a significant furture possibility of dispensing with parts of aging. ajohn505 Feb 08, 2002, 05:45 PM Mr. Cyborg Moderator sir, Is that quote from the game? If not, do you have any links to back it up... it sounds fascinating. And if it is from the game, it just reaffirms one of the reason's I friggin love it. :) Lefty Scaevola Feb 08, 2002, 06:07 PM Nope, not from the game, the aging/anti-cancer link is real science here on Earth. No links, I have read that in print, probably either discover magazine or scientific american. Lefty Scaevola Feb 08, 2002, 06:20 PM A qucik search found a reference to "mouse model demonstrates links of telomeresand telomerase to to cancer, aging and lifespan" but it was a pay to download the document. |
