And submitted my first try at a fast conquest.
Went with the mongols, the creative variety on epic/prince on a standard map and won the game in 80 BC.
I made tons of mistakes but the keshik is very effective at this sort of things, as one would expect considering what they did in real history.
My main strategy was playing Great Plains and hoping for one of those great starts in the plains with all those cows. I got that, then proceeded to make a worker, then a settler, then another worker at which point I then pumped out 4 turn keshiks for the rest of the game (couple other things in there like a couple scouts I set on auto explore). My second city started right on a barracks and was able to do 5 turn keshiks the rest of the game. Both of my cities maxed out at 5 and 4 pop respectively so there is lots of room for improvement there.
My first conquest and my third and fourth city came before I researched horseback riding so consisted of a few archers. I had borders touching my second city with this civ so the short distances enabled this fast archery rush, but I had keshiks coming out before this war ended so it was basically only an initial assult with archers. The fourth city was a mistake as it was only able to produce a barracks and maybe 2 keshiks the entire game while taking a lot of money per turn in maintence. Although it really didn't matter as all my further research was unneeded and even running 20+ in the red per turn I ended the game with 800+ gold, getting 50-100 gold per razed city is more than enough to keep you afloat.
Some definate ways to easily beat this time, play a custom game with the minimum number of opponents, in my case I had to destroy 6. Also because of this I barely got any huts while it might be possible to more quickly get to your desired tech from huts.
Also planning your war better, I made mistakes like leaving horses connected for egypt allowing them to make some chariots. But on the plus side no one was able to really get rolling with copper or iron before my horde ran over them. But I doubt this will really matter as long as I can kill off units I will win. That is, even with copper or iron connected they might just end up with fewer but stronger defenders which boils down to an easier attrition war IMO. But time will tell when I try this sort of game again.
One final bit of info, IIRC I built about 55 keshiks, lost about 20, and got a number up to and above 20 exp (I mainly stuck with combat and a couple medic upgrades). I didn't get a single unit retreat the entire game. And of the battles I think I was only attacked once or twice.
