Corossol Dec 12, 2005, 04:42 AM Hi Great_Scott!
sounds fun, I love Terra maps and I love long games but in my (brief) experience Epic is just too slow for PBEM... would you consider Normal speed?
wolfman1234 Dec 12, 2005, 05:53 AM I am in, you have a pm Great_Scott.
Corossol Dec 12, 2005, 06:02 AM I'll play :) as Cyrus of Persia. PM'ing details.
Re: speed, it says Normal in thread title and Epic in post, which is it going to be?
Thanks!
FatTurtle Dec 12, 2005, 06:26 AM I'm in! As Japan please, preferred playing time 9pm GMT +0, PM'ed email address...
Argh Dec 12, 2005, 06:38 AM Hi, can I play?
I have PM'ed you my info
Are we not providing you with passwords as well? What about SMTP info?
(I only ask because theonly other PBEM game I'm in asked for both things.
wolfman1234 Dec 12, 2005, 09:13 AM Well, you should put your own password by ald+D when you take your first savegame. And we could go without that smtp thing, nothing like sending your turn yourself or posting it here.
Argh Dec 12, 2005, 09:53 AM I'm fine with sending my own turns, it's hardly a chore. But, what is the benefit to the game hoster of setting up the players passwords himself? I saw two or three PBEM games in a row that requested this...
(As a result of that, I didn't even know you could set your own...doh).
wolfman1234 Dec 12, 2005, 10:27 AM I dont see the point host choosing the pw, besides that no one can start with others civ for seeing his start location.

I will need some specific time. Or mornings/noon/afternoon/evening/night etc
And my apologies... it's normal speed, not epic.
Argh Dec 12, 2005, 04:06 PM Hey, great_scott you've got the wrong details for me on your first post :)
Great_Scott Dec 12, 2005, 05:41 PM Hey, great_scott you've got the wrong details for me on your first post :)
'Tis fixed.
cloudraine Dec 12, 2005, 06:05 PM I will need some specific time. Or mornings/noon/afternoon/evening/night etc
No problem. In that case, I'd say my most preferred playing time is from in between 2000 & 2300, GMT +0800.
If I am unmistaken, that translates to between 1200 & 1500, GMT

cloudraine Dec 12, 2005, 06:51 PM Correct.. Right! Then we're all set. Game starts when I get home :D
Excellent! Can't wait :D
Great_Scott Dec 13, 2005, 03:38 AM Ladies & Gentleman.. the game has begun!
cloudraine Dec 13, 2005, 06:46 AM Done!
Passed it forward.. to Argh :)
Argh Dec 13, 2005, 11:46 AM Done, passed to Fat Turtle.
*Cries at his start position *
FatTurtle Dec 13, 2005, 12:09 PM Passed on to Wolfman...
Corossol Dec 13, 2005, 06:41 PM And on to Joe...
joethreeblah Dec 13, 2005, 07:46 PM I passed it on. How is this epic with 8 people
Herandar IV Dec 13, 2005, 09:28 PM Epic is a speed setting in the game.
Great_Scott Dec 13, 2005, 09:58 PM Well, my first game, the 18-player, huge map, epic-speed is, well.. a PBEM of Epic proportions, so I aptly named the first game (as in, on the begin new game screen) THE FIRST EPIC.
And this game, while it ain't no epic, in terms of game speed of player numbers, I called THE SECOND EPIC... because it will be an EPIC victory for yours truly
joethreeblah Dec 13, 2005, 10:00 PM (As Douglas Adams once said...)
Epic is a speed setting in the game.
Oh,
Speed:- Normal
Ah.
Great_Scott Dec 14, 2005, 06:19 AM  Joul recieved the turn, but thought it was the other game I set up, the epic one... doh, we've lost the momentum!  :crazyeye:
Joul Ironhand Dec 14, 2005, 06:33 AM I think it was a fair reason to be confused! :p
Anyway, its sent now. First turn done, noted down the order of play. Now the game begins proper...
Joul
wolfman1234 Dec 14, 2005, 07:07 AM You will see with your 18 player game, its impossible someone not taking his turn all days.
Great_Scott Dec 14, 2005, 01:18 PM I think it was a fair reason to be confused! :p
Anyway, its sent now. First turn done, noted down the order of play. Now the game begins proper...
Joul
Joul, I don't have the turn in my inbox...
Great_Scott Dec 14, 2005, 10:49 PM Awesome, we're through the first turn!... *sense of achievement*
I get home in 2 hours, shall play my turn then..
cloudraine Dec 14, 2005, 11:51 PM Will be awaiting my turn shortly thereafter! :D
cloudraine Dec 15, 2005, 01:27 AM Received, and sent to Argh.
Argh Dec 15, 2005, 01:51 AM Just to warn you that I won't be able to do my turn till 11pm-12 midnight tonight. (office christmas dinner).
(I did get up early to check for a turn before I left for work, and missed it by about half an hour or so!) :(
Will do it as soon as I get in, even if I'm steaming drunk. In fact, you lot will probably benefit from any silly, drunken turn I take :)
Joul Ironhand Dec 15, 2005, 03:46 AM I assume you recieved the turn, Great_Scott...
Joul
FatTurtle Dec 15, 2005, 04:19 AM That's ok Argh, I also have an office Xmas dinner, so I'll be home at midnight-ish and play then. Luckily I've already made the first (most important) turn sober, so it's not much I can screw up tonight, considering I will be quite, ahum, intoxicated..
Argh Dec 15, 2005, 04:12 PM Done tunr, passed to Fat Turtle. Spelling error may indicate a slight level of chrsitmas intoxication, and strategic decisiojns may have been affexcted proportionally.
Oh dear, am fairly merry...
:)
Enj oy.
wolfman1234 Dec 15, 2005, 05:52 PM Seems Fat Turtle was taking fun too at the christmas party, he sent me the first turn.:D
I need the second one, the 3950 ac.
FatTurtle Dec 15, 2005, 05:54 PM 40 game years and and untold numbers of wine bottles later, the Japanese have made their second turn! Passed on to wolfman..
Im quite impressed you tried to spell propotionally at this time of night Argh, very impressive...
Anyway, good night for now, not entierly sober myselgf..
FatTurtle Dec 15, 2005, 05:56 PM Ok, tried sneding it one more time, see if it works out any better.. Bloddy inconveneint turn names anyway, so easy to make a mistake.. anyway, should be ok now
wolfman1234 Dec 15, 2005, 06:04 PM Hehe, fast and clean, turn for Corossol.
wolfman1234 Dec 17, 2005, 03:14 PM Hmmmmm....Corossol? are you alive? :(
Corossol Dec 17, 2005, 08:19 PM Alive and well :)
I sent the 3960 save to joetreeblah yesterday. I'll re-send just in case.
cloudraine Dec 18, 2005, 06:05 PM Apologies! I will play my turn within the next 4-5 hours :)
cloudraine Dec 19, 2005, 06:16 AM Received, and sent to Argh!
Argh Dec 19, 2005, 07:34 AM Got it. Should be doing it around 7pm GMT.
Argh Dec 19, 2005, 12:07 PM DONE, sent to Rotund Shell Dwelling Creature.
FatTurtle Dec 19, 2005, 12:29 PM Sent on, and on, and on...
wolfman1234 Dec 19, 2005, 12:47 PM Sent to Corossol
Great_Scott Dec 20, 2005, 03:24 PM Sent to Corossol
*ahem* *taps foot impatiently* :mischief:
joethreeblah Dec 20, 2005, 03:32 PM *ahem* *taps foot impatiently* :mischief:
Coral sent it to me, and i've sent it to the next guy about 5 hours ago
Great_Scott Dec 20, 2005, 03:54 PM Had a slight issue to contend with (back up your files Scott!), but I fixed it... back on track, sent to cloudraine... whom I believe got a free tech because his score went up...
cloudraine Dec 21, 2005, 05:51 AM Game played, sent! :D
FatTurtle Dec 21, 2005, 07:36 AM Just to let you guys know that I'll be travelling most of the day tomorrow (thursday), but I should be back to civilization (har har) in the very early morning hours on Friday (GMT time) and will try to play then. From then onwards I should be able to play as usual though, even though I will have to save the game on a memory stick to transfer to my laptop which takes half an hour to load CIV4, and then back to the comp with internet connection.. But hey, it wouldn't be fun if it wasn't a bit of effort involved, right?
I should be able to play tonights game on time though.
Argh Dec 21, 2005, 09:51 AM I should be able to do my turn (which is in my inbox) at 7ish as usual. Same for tomorrow, if it comes through.
But Friday I am out till late (if I'm not too worse for wear when I get home, I'll try and do it).
Christmas Eve, I am away for 2, possibly 3 nights. If you get a turn to me Christmas Eve morning-lunchtime (GMT), I might at least be able to do that.
So, if things go well, you can get three more turns out of me before I am unhappily parted from my computer, to travel hundreds of miles to see tons of ungrateful relatives :)
Me wants funds for a laptop :)
Argh Dec 21, 2005, 11:42 AM Done my turn
FatTurtle Dec 21, 2005, 12:19 PM Done, to wolfman
wolfman1234 Dec 21, 2005, 12:43 PM Turn for Corossol.
Great_Scott Dec 22, 2005, 12:41 AM Played... things moving on nicely..:)
cloudraine Dec 22, 2005, 01:01 AM Next please! :)
Argh Dec 22, 2005, 11:56 AM On its way to Mr Turtle.
FatTurtle Dec 22, 2005, 02:42 PM hi guys
I am afriad that due to unforseen circumstances beoynd my control, it seems like I wont be able to load up any Civ4 game until 4th Jan when im back to my comp...
However, since this seems to be flowing along quite nicely at the moment, I dont want to stall it so I could send my password and instructions for the next few turns to Argh, and let him play my turns until then. As we are still in the ealy stages of the game I recon that will be ok, since all that really needs to be done is to move the scouting units around (everything else is qd up). And since the map isnt centered yet it wont provide him with any extra infomation anyway (apart from the terrain around my capital), and as he proved in his anarchy game he´s more than able to follow instructions :)
I´ll PM my password to argh now, and then he can forward the game on to Wolfman.
Great_Scott Dec 22, 2005, 04:21 PM Sounds fine by me... I figured surely someone would go awol over Xmas... so this ain't too bad :)
Argh Dec 23, 2005, 12:07 AM I really don't want to gain any sort of advantage over Turtle, by seeing his starting location this early on. If the majority of players agree, then I say we wait till he gets back. However, if the majority don't want to wait, then I will play Turtle's turns for him.
(Bear in mind that I am away myself for 2 - 3 nights from xmas eve).
joethreeblah Dec 23, 2005, 02:24 AM Umm... I think obviously one of his friends should play it or some random person from the board here... not another person in the same game
Great_Scott Dec 23, 2005, 03:30 AM Umm... I think obviously one of his friends should play it or some random person from the board here... not another person in the same game
Personally, I think this is ok. Not much is given away, like they said.. he'll be back way before Calendar is discovered, and if anything, he just loses a bit of secrecy in what terrain is around his city.
This early in the game, I'm all for it. Unless anyone is absolutely against it, then I say we continue.
wolfman1234 Dec 23, 2005, 07:05 AM Must we patch the game? I think yes, some of us sure will play multiplayer in the lobby...
Argh Dec 23, 2005, 07:28 AM I've chatted with Turtle, and I'll play his turns (with my eyes shut).
Great_Scott Dec 23, 2005, 08:18 AM Must we patch the game? I think yes, some of us sure will play multiplayer in the lobby...
I've patched already... and i'm sure i'm alone here...
Argh to play Turtles turns.. :goodjob:
Also, my partners birthday, well.. today (2:00am here).. plus xmas tomorrow.. i guess it goes without saying this game won't go far over the next few days.. but if i'm on, and i see my turn, i'll play.. of course. :)
Herandar IV Dec 23, 2005, 02:19 PM I'll be a backup player, if anyone wants. I have no bias or advantage to gain.
Argh Dec 23, 2005, 06:02 PM Fine by me.
wolfman1234 Dec 23, 2005, 07:00 PM And well argh? dont you have to send the turn to me, then?
Argh Dec 24, 2005, 04:04 AM I hadnt realised it had been agreed, but ok, I'll do it now.
wolfman1234 Dec 26, 2005, 05:46 AM Turn for Corossol.
Argh Jan 07, 2006, 03:16 AM I just got a turn through, which I have done. I believe Turtle is supposed to be back now, so I have sent the save to him, rather than playing it for him.
If he doesn't respond in a day or so, then I'll play his turn and assume he's still on holiday.
FatTurtle Jan 08, 2006, 04:30 AM Hey guys, back and rested from the holidays now. I received Arghs turn, will be able to play it in a few hours and pass it on.
Thanks!
FatTurtle Jan 08, 2006, 11:34 AM Game patched and ready, turn for wolfman!
wolfman1234 Jan 11, 2006, 01:44 AM I sent the savegame to Corossol 3 days ago.....

Corossol Jan 11, 2006, 11:09 AM I sent to Joe on the same day. I just re-sent just in case. Joe, had you played that save?
joethreeblah Jan 11, 2006, 02:32 PM It might have been me who forgot to send. I resent just in case.
Argh Jan 14, 2006, 10:25 AM We're obviously moving again, cos I just got and played and sent a turn :)
FatTurtle Jan 15, 2006, 02:04 PM sent on to wolfman just now..

Cheers
