View Full Version : The Sims
Pellaken Jan 21, 2002, 04:13 PM its a good game...
nothing too specific about it from me, just want to see how many of you have the game. I have fun sometimes. I'll build a house without a toilet, then I'll buy one, just in the 'nick of time' then just as they are in sprint, and half way there, I'll sell it, and then the room suddenley floods :) my friend said I am sadistic, but then again, he's killed 34 of his people he made cause he dident like them!
Ohwell Jan 21, 2002, 04:18 PM There's already a thread for this...
I like it! I sometimes kill my people, because they are always asking for stuff. I never pick the perfect personality...
I usually get Cancers, they are balanced. Then, their jobs are usually Buisness, or Military. I havn't played in a while, I think I will play right now!
Dell19 Jan 22, 2002, 02:39 PM I will play it again one day but at the moment I am too busy playing Civ 3...
There is only so much appeal of killing your Sims etc.
DaEezT Jan 22, 2002, 03:06 PM Not exactly on topic but still: Sim Golf is cool :D
I like it more than The Sims :goodjob:
spycatcher34 Jan 22, 2002, 03:35 PM I have it. Dont play it a whole lot but still.... Its a pretty cool game. I like to get them all the way up in their carrers and make alot of money. A slightly different approch than your pell.:)
Hamlet Feb 03, 2002, 09:57 AM It's a good game. It's has a good 'lastability' factor, I find. Mabye that's just me, though.
AdamSmo Feb 03, 2002, 12:28 PM Oh, the Sims is a pretty cool game. Just way too many expansion packs.
spycatcher34 Feb 03, 2002, 01:53 PM They are comeing out with a new one too. The sims vaction.
Dell19 Feb 04, 2002, 10:26 AM Its quite funny when you see all of the MODs and the original game all in a line...It suprising that they all fit on.
VanillaCube Feb 07, 2002, 08:30 PM I love the sims I have it and I probable play it more than civ.
and I like it more than civ but as for all the expansion packs on the sims LL has been enough for me.
no no please dont beat me for saying that!
andyo Feb 09, 2002, 03:37 PM is it just me? Idon't get this game - I gave in and went out and got it - this might be the stupidest game ever - what is the point? what is the sense? it is like watching a bad cartoon that isn't funny - someone explain it to me - what is the fun in this game?
Dell19 Feb 10, 2002, 03:39 AM Its the variety and the fact you control what the Sims do. You can try and be successful or you can build death houses. You can create charactors that resemble people from real life and then see who is the last to die or who gets the most advanced...
dannyevilcat Feb 12, 2002, 09:50 AM Hey, I'm having some problems with this game, was wondering if anyone else has, or knows what's wrong. It's just that it "freezes" every so often. Any ideas?

I get that some times too. Not regularly, but occasionally.
dannyevilcat Feb 12, 2002, 09:53 PM It was happening to me quite frequently, but I think I may have solved it. I figure it has something to do with screen resolution. My desktop is normally 800x600. Now when I'm going to play I switch to crappy 640x480, and actually play in 800x600. So far it hasn't froze. Strange, though.
hbdragon88 Aug 19, 2002, 12:44 AM Here's something interesting I know about the Sims:
It took Maxis two years to develop the Sims and four expansion packs.
It took Firaxis two years to just develop Civlization III
With this in mind, Civ III is much better in my opinion.
gunning1 Aug 21, 2002, 09:21 PM I used to be into The Sims, then got into Civ.3. I play The Sims sometimes. They are now coming out with The sims for the PS2, Sims online, and The Sims Unleashed, which adds more pets to the game.
Furry Spatula Aug 21, 2002, 10:12 PM I dont like the sims for one reason, Initialy its cool, but eventually it gets to be too much of a head ache. There is way too much micro management. Also, it is hard to get a lot of friends. For some of those jobs, i mean damn. I often times find that the micromanagement gets a bit too much, so after about one week of playing i uninstall it. Right now my cousin has it, I need to get it back, he's had it for about 6 months, Same with Commandos 2
WillJ Sep 17, 2002, 08:45 PM I like The Sims, and I was for a little while very addicted. I have Livin' Large and Hot Date (very good ex pack), and I may get Unleashed when it comes out. But for now I'm mostly playing Civ3.

Micromanaging can be a pain. I experinced eight months of bliss with it until I started to drop it. Getting civ3 threw The Sims out of the computer room and into the box.
Friends are easy, before Hot Date. If you have a fast computer, it comes even easier. Have them talk talk and more talk. Click on them and talk, then click "Go Here" and switch back and forth. Then delete the "go here"s out of the quene and you'll have a lot of talk. Cook a meal, have them watch TV - instant success.
My interest in the Sims was near instant killed by Vacation, which, in my opinion, tarnished the Sims, lacked originality, not worth the space, and was a disappointment from Maxis's ability. They have released expansion's ten times better than Vacation. Plus it's all marketing, anyway - appeal, you know!
