The Civilization killer for me is called Mario Kart DS. I have been playing the game ever since it got out (nov 25th) and even more when I got wifi access so I can race online. I haven't played Civ for 2 or 3 weeks now and I don't even miss it. I couldn't have expected this to happen.

Does anyone else play this game?

I would like to offer into evidence to following rant from an anonymous source.

I CAN'T STAND HIM!!! Mario is too invincible! In all the games, he gets these super powers and it's almost impossible to beat him! I hate him so much... In Super Smash Brothers, me and my brother go on a team against Mario and just beat the crap out of him for fun... It's very satisfying! He is practically undefeatable in that game unless you're wicked good... It always seems like he gets an unlimited supply of whatever item he has... For example, when I get the Fire Flower (By the way, I'm always Pikachu ^_^) It burns out after about 5 seconds. But when Mario gets it, it lasts like a full minute! I just don't get that... I mean, I know that Mario is Nintendo's mascot and everything, but he doesn't have to be completely invincible! I used to like Mario, but, over the years, I just keep hating him more and more... Oh, and another thing, What the hell happened to Toad? He needs to have bigger roles in the games! I love Toad! He's my all time favorite Nintendo character (Not including Pokemon ^_^) and I'd like to see more of him! One more thing... In Diddy Kong Racing, the Mario Syndrome (as I like to call it) is the worst! Diddy is unbeatable! I hate Diddy! My friends say "Oh, that little monkey is so cute!" But he's just too annoying! Argh! Well, I think that's enough ranting for one night... Die, Mario, Die!!!!!

Mario Kart is easy to play for 10 minutes, but I'll play Civ religiously when I have a spare afternoon, scout's honour!

2 to 3 weeks? That means the game is still in the "novel" phase. Once that wears off you could very much go back to civ. Your addiction just might be suspended.

Alpha Centauri killed civ for me. Such a better game.

Ahh... I see you haven't tried Civ4 yet. It is alright to be jaded by Civ2-3 but you must eventually support the Civilization merchandise.

So they can make Civ5.

So true. Except on mine, the game was even slow towards the beginning... That's probably one reason I only played about 5-6 games of Civ3, and only ever made it to early Middle Ages tech level before quitting.

MY Civ 4 killer was Diablo 2, Age of Wonders 2, Arcanum, Tomb Raider 1, and Anarchy Online. I have had these games all for about 3 years at least. I just went back to what I was playing before it was released. :p

I got myself a NDS just after christmas after playing one on boxing day (Yoshi Touch & Go... ITS ACE!) and I got Mario Kart DS with it... HOW ADDICTIVE IS IT!

What surprises me is that there isn't really that much to do... but its just great trying to beat the time trials and getting the staff ghosts!

I haven't got the Wi-Fi adapter yet, is it worth getting?

I dont play it myself but i got it for my sister for christmas.

I got ROB last night.

I've managed to beat 12 of the 36 staff ghosts so far! Used Waluigi in one of ROB's karts (the one where you get 3 mushrooms) for most of em, pretty good combination! This game is awesome!

The game was good, but only online. When I did try to play online, it took me just as long to find a game as to play one. Single player sucked.

I don't own it but my girlfriend's little brother does. so I play it if I ever get the chance when I'm round at hers. she doesn't like me beating all her times though :king:
