View Full Version : New Civ Mod! Want to know if anyone wants to work on it with Me :)
Wolf_Lord65 Dec 21, 2005, 09:13 PM Well I got this idea while looking through the units and seaing a ship. I think it would be a neat scenario. Where there is almost no land all sea. Just small Islands and nations fight each other. There would be treasures, lots and lots of ships, and a completely new tech tree. So if any one would want to help in this epic let me know!
Oh before I forget this would not include any modern ships but sailing ships. So let me know! I think this would be a sweet game!:D
taillesskangaru Dec 22, 2005, 06:35 AM Sounds like a great idea. Except that my knowledge of modding and creating a scenerio is very limited...
Darque Dec 22, 2005, 09:38 AM It sounds like it may be interesting. How large are you planning on making the islands? Also, what type of non-naval units will you have for invading cities?
Quinzy Dec 22, 2005, 09:40 AM how about pirates and stuff? all amphibious of course.
Wolf_Lord65 Dec 22, 2005, 03:53 PM Ya the Islands would be very small with the nations capital Island only big enough for 3 cities, Non naval would be like settlers, rifleman, cannon and stuff like that. Also there would be a few other islands to settle for other resources. We would also need other resources.
Rambuchan Dec 22, 2005, 08:23 PM Depending on the size of those islands you may have a problem with getting the AI to do anything with its land troops. Typically they will just sit 'in port'. So make sure you give them amphimious abilities and enough land on each island to make the AI move around and think it can actually do something with those land troops.
taillesskangaru Dec 23, 2005, 04:50 AM What sort of, er, era in history is it set in: classical age, medieval, age of discovery, enlightenment, early industrial? (definitely not late industrial, modern because you only wanted sailing ships).
Wolf_Lord65 Dec 23, 2005, 01:06 PM Good point ram, I was rethinking the islands by making them a little larger. I just dont want too much land. Also the era would be classical - enlightment, with discovery. Different Civs will have different ships. I think the most powerful ship that you can upgrade to will end up being the Ironclad type of ship.
Blue Monkey Dec 23, 2005, 03:57 PM For ideas about what kind of islands to build, spend some time looking at atlases of areas on earth where sea-based power was important, like the agean (ancient greece/troy/minoan), south china sea (spice trade), and carribean.
