I've done all the updating I can think of to do for WinXP Pro and I still can't install the game, no matter what compatability mode I pick. (When I click on the install button I see the wait mouse cursor for a bit and then ... nothing. I'm back to my desktop as if nothing happened.

So, could someone please walk me through manually installing the game? After that, I still have to install the 4.0 patch, then SMACX, which I hope will work, then the SMACX patch.

Sometimes they have new patches at the xp homepage.

Hmmm, I do not know the compression format or the program that will un comptess the files.

Well, as usual, after I post, I figure it out. I also had XP Home on my backup system. After a suggestion by someone else on Apolyton, I installed the whole bundle on that system (which went like a charm) and then copied them over. Fortunately, I have a 250 usb Zip drive on each system for just this sort of thing (I also found out my network isn't working between the 2 machines, but that's trouble for another day).

So, thanks, y'all. The game itself is working fine on my Pro system.
