I suppose, to save going out and shooting your own historical documentary clip or paying for archive footage, you could just put together a kind of slide show of stills in this programme? And can you add music to it also?

Yes you can import any type of file then convert it to a bic movie and also mix in sound. For the easiest way I would start with an animated gif.

This would be very interesting to see. I don't think I've seen videos being modded before. Might bump up the filesize, though!

Plot: Yes, it would bump up the file size for sure. Hence my thinking of a sequence of stills. It's just slightly less demanding I think. Anyway, this is with a view to making it an optional DL. Much like music in your scens.

I already have the Rad tools as well as a Music/Video mixing program called Screenblast ACID, so I might just have to end up making my own...

It actually wont increase the file size that significantly bink videos are highly compressed. If you make a new image in Photoshop you can add other new images on layers above the first then export the file to image ready to animate and save as a .gif. You will now have an animated gif you can then convert and compress as a bink video :) If you have 3D programs you can use that alternatively to make an animated gif then import the animated gif into image ready save as a psd and then do touch up add effects etc in photoshop.

where are the video files lurking?

Program Files\Atari\Civilization III Complete\Art\Movies As you can see I have Civ 3 complete just change the stucture if you dont have the complete version but it should be in a folder named movies inside art...........so for a mod make an extra movie folder inside the art folder and voila!

I changed this movie in Anno Domini. Instead of having an actual movie, I had a screenshot of Cleopatra in her treasury room that ran for about 25 seconds. (It had been changed from a space race victory to a trade victory.)

EDIT: I too am doing this with a view to animating or at least changing the way the Mughals scenario's 'Trade Mastery Victory' is depicted. It just seems wrong to have a spaceship taking off once a player has established their monopoly over Opium, Cotton, Silks and Gems in 18th century India. If I can get it to work, I intend to put together something very humourous involving a Coronation ('The Jewel in the Crown' is the only SS Part) and put it with some funked up, 60s, sitar funk.

You actually have graduation things? We just got a half day where we were given our year books, and after they had all been signed and whatnot, they gave out awards for grades, then just sent us home.

I know. But that's what we did. It was an after school thing though, and we needed to buy these cheap graduation gowns for it.

If you look at the space race video it is 640 x 360 pixels with 2,541 frames so if you plan to make a replacement movie I would use the same pixel size frames can be anything but remeber the less frames you have the shorter it will be.
