1.52 is now legal for HOF play.
All future HOF games should be started under this patch.
Games in progress need to be finished under the patch they were started in.
We will probably abandon 1.09 entirely by the time of the next update.
If/when the next patch is released, do not upgrade midHOF game.
1.52 includes TWO new settings required for HOF play:
New Random Seed on Reload (1.52 only) - Must not be checked
No Cheating (1.52 only) - Must be checked

Marathon is allowed, still covered by the "Any game speed may be used."

Hi superslug, I am new to civfanatics.com but not the Civilization series and I was wondering if you could answer a few questions about HOF games.
1) Do you have to be a special kind of member to post HOF games?
2) How do you post HOF games that you played on your home computer on this website?
3) Are only the top 5-10 scores posted on each version and each difficulty?
4) Is there some kind of persistent ranking system regarding players' scores?
I found out about this website from a friend and primarily utilize it to help me become a better Civ player as Civ IV's online component seems very interesting to me. Although Civ III had an online expansion (PTW) I never got around to purchasing it. Any information about HOF games and Civ IV multiplayer in general would be greatly appreciated.

Certainly! And welcome to CFC!
1) Do you have to be a special kind of member to post HOF games?
Nope. The HOF is open to all CFC members. You can register here (http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/user_login.php). Just type in your CFC username so it'll be your HOF user name and follow the instructions.
2) How do you post HOF games that you played on your home computer on this website?
Once you receive your password, you can log into the HOF page and you'll see the submission page.
3) Are only the top 5-10 scores posted on each version and each difficulty?
It's top ten per table. As of this update, the tables can be broken down by difficulty, map size and victory condition.

4) Is there some kind of persistent ranking system regarding players' scores?
You mean like an overall rating? No, not yet for the HOF.

The HOF is easy, just read the webpage and surf this forum. MP isn't allowed for this HOF, but there are MP forums further up in the index.

With no cheating mods can not be used, also harmless ones like Blue Marble and clock mods?

We're not entirely sure yet what impact no cheating mode has on mods. It may vary mod by mod whether or not they'll run, although if the individual mods haven't been adjusted to run under 1.52, that may be the reason.

I am asking because I think I saw somewhere if "No cheating" option is checked, custom assets are not used by default - it is hardcoded in Civ 4 exe.

if the individual mods haven't been adjusted to run under 1.52, that may be the reason.I have the clock mod, autologger, special domestic advisor and BlueMarble installed, and they all work with "no cheating" being off, but when I check it, none of them works, not even BM. I guess it just ignores the CustomAssets.
