I keep getting this error whenever I try to install Civilization IV.

Anyone else have this problem or know how to install it? I don't know if I can go back and return it, because my brother ripped open the top of the box, and my cousin gave it to him for Christmas, so I don't have the recepit.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ironically, I had the same error with Civ3. I just used an alternate disc I had laying around.

I'd say that I would definitely try to return it. Get your cousin to give you the reciept, and make up a sob story, or just told them it doesn't work. You might have to pay a restocking fee, but alas.

OR: Clean your disc. Make it shiny.

I tried cleaning it, and it doesn't work. There's this scratch towards the edge of the CD though. And I heard that some people can get replacement disks through Firaxis or whoever, and just have to pay for Shipping and Handling...

Many have listed this error (myself included). Returning the disk(s) seems to be the only solution. At least, the only one that I've seen posted.
