When I double click on the Civ4 Icon, I get the loading screen, then the Bar, and when it reaches XML (I think) It simply closes and i'm back at desktop.

I'm trying to run this on:
AMD Athlon Xp 1800
Epox 8kha+ Motherboard
Geforce 3 ti500 Graphics card
Win XP Pro SP2

What sound hardware are you supposed to have?

Find out and install the right drivers for it and try again.

I'm having the same problem. Diagnostics came out fine. Intel P4 dual core 1.5 gig ram Geforce fx 52oo28 megs. Any ideas?

I got it to work (Even without sound -- Installed drivers since)
Simply Patched it to 1.52...
