I am the Future's Platform

Vote Future for a better future!

Think about it: I am new to the demoGame, I want to change things, I am just an ordinary citizen. If i am so ordinary what makes me deserve your vote? Well, I will tell you what. I am hard working, I am involved in the workings of the roleplaying aspects of the game, I am the leader of 2 organizations, and I am the best candidate for the job. I am the best for a couple of reason. the first is that I have new and fresh ideas. Another is that I am quite persusive, whcich you will find out after voting for me. The third is that I will strive for the people. Your rights are the more important to me then anything else in the demoGame. Finally I easily learn new laws, and I support a relaxed interpratation of the consititution.
With me you can garantee your rights, and in the end that is all that matters.

Vote Future for a better future!

Black_Hole's Platform

Hello, I'm Black_Hole

I have served on the Judiciary multiple times during the Civ3 demogames, so many times I can't count anymore...
I served as Chief Justice for a term, public defender for 3 or so terms, and judge advocate for about 5 turns, I think...

As you can see, I have experiance in all areas of the court, so I know how best to protect your rights, which is my primary job. With these more complicated ruleset, it will be possible for activists to launch more CCs, so the public defender could be a very important job. I have also been involved in many CCs(filer and judge advocate), so I know how they work

I started the Civ3 demogame in DG4 and I am still a judge advocate in the current term of DG7(term5). Besides being in the judiciary, I have served as governor multiple times and science minister a few times.

My judicial ruling style is simple, I rule on what is in the constitution, not what the author was thinking about when he/she wrote it, unlike one of my competitors. The Judiciary shouldn't modify or fill in gaps of the constitution, they should clarify what the constitution says, not change it so it can be "more fun".

Vote for me and vote for protection of your rights!

Ravensfire is my choice. A dedicated leader that has proven his qualities in the Judiciary time and time again.

By the way, I am the Future, can you answer Ravensfire's questions (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=3495414&postcount=8) which you seemed to miss?

I am the Future

Thank you for pointing that out Ginger Ale

what do you feel is the role of the Public Defender?
The job of the public defender is to help defend people during judiciary preseadings. Tehy are basically a lawyer whos job is to protect the people and make the game as fun as possible.

What do you feel you can bring to this office?
I can bring new ideas and a fresh face to the office. I have never been in the Civ Demogames so I am quite eager to prove that I am worthy of the position whic means I will fight as hard as possible for any and every citisen. I am just an average ctizen and I want to help other average citizens.

Why should you get my vote?
I am a leader in many parts of the demogame allready. I was elected head of The Party, and I am the Head Shamen of the First Church of State. I belive that I would be a fitting Public defender. As I mentioned above I am eager to prove taht I am worthy of the job. This means that I will fight tooth and limb for all of the citizens of the demogame. I can bring new ideas and some personality into the position. I am dedicated to the demoGame. And I allways have CivFanatics open in a tab whenever I am on the internet. So I am able to answer any PMs i a quick process. I am sure RoboPig and agree I allways answer, and I allways answer quickly.
For these reason I belive that you should vote for me as Public defender.

I voted for Black_Hole. He's an excellent juror who's not afraid to voice his opinion. I've served with him several times and he has independantly approached my Courts with JRs and CCs. He knows what he's doing and his opinions will probably be free from any political influence.

Just for fun, I come in at the extreme end of elections, with only enough time to vote for the justices, and break a three-way tie here, tie up the JA election, and bump Cyc to second (untied) in the CJ one.

Looks like I just tied it up again by voting for Stilgar. I mostly lurk (mostly because lack of time) but I've read most of the debate in the Citizens forum and I really wish that Ravensfire and Stilgar had not run against each other. I believe there debates on the Tri(not even going to try to spell it ;)) to be intellectual debate at its finest. They would have been great on the court opposite of each other instead running against each other in an election.:hatsoff: to all the candidates.

Whoa! Now this race certainly IS too close to call! Almost a 3 way tie. Almost a 4 way tie if you wanted to include a range of 5 votes. This reminds me of the Strider-Donsig Presidential race back in the early days of the Civ3 demogame. (They had something like 3 run-offs).

I regret not getting here earlier and being able to vote in all the election, but I'm glad I was able to vote in the two very close judicial election.

I do find it a bit odd that the Presidental race was barely contested yet a free for all was fought for judges seats. :crazyeye:

In Stilgar's Defense he did not self-nominate; also his absence is mainly his internship was over this month and he is moving something like 150km.

I hate to be a spoilsport, but this is EXTREMELY unusual. A come from behind victory for a candidate who hardly campaigned? Look at the vote total - 54! The average for the other elections was about 45. I think there's some foul play involved.

Spoilsport ;) but i have been thinking the same thing, however i do hope there hasnt been and that he won on his own merit, if there has been do we have to re-do the entire election? or just pick 2nd place?

Ok!
Unfortunately I just saw the outcome of this election. Recently I've been very busy with RL and therefore couldn't follow the elections (I moved, changed jobs and we had christmas and New Year, BTW). That's the reason why I stated nothin' in the judiciary thread but I believe people recognised Ravensfire and my discussions concerning the tri (Thanks for pointing these out!) as constructive and sharp at the same time! Furthermore you can see from my various posts and memberships about the way I think how a DG should be going and how I would raise my voice in one way or the other! I agree with some stated opinions here that it would have been good to have ravensfire and me as Jing&Jang in one gremium and not as contestants in the elections for it... (Nothing against my noble judiciary-branch-fellows mhcarver and DS, of course! I'm looking forward to work with you!)

I didn't even vote here!! And I just want to state that I have done nothing to manipulate in any way! How could I? If I can be of any help to verify or proof the outcome of this election let me know!

It's a sort of bittersweet win after I read this  . It's ironic that I, who is fighting for democracy and basic-democracy as I understand it is sort of under "a false light" because of the unusual outcome of this vote... :(

I like to thank all the voters who voted for me and I'm more than willing to fulfil the tasks assigned to me!!!! And thanks for the congratulations! :)

Nonetheless if there are doubts about the lawfulness of this vote I'll offer my position again and would run again in a new election! :salute:

I hereby strongly deny any accusations or suspicions against my person!!!

I'm sorry Stilgar; but you were not elected (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=151776). I want you and the rest of the citizens to know that Stilgar is 100% innocent. He is 100% honest and has not manipulated this election.
Unfortunately this election was manipulated, but not by Stilgar. The Staff is waiting for an answer from a member. With that answer we can hopefully end this situation.

I'd like to thank Rik for pointing out that I had nothin to do with this election fraud.

I cannot deny that this is devastating News to me  ...
F***K, what a day!

I will abstain from offices for a while... I don't know if you can understand but that's pretty demotivating to me...
I was entering the forums tonight to get some "work" done... Well, obviously it is done already...

Nevertheless I'd like to thank my TRUE supporters...

Feeling bad... :( :vomit:

P.S.: I'd like to see the correct poll-result!
Furthermore I assume that the identity of the fraud won't get announced? I'd like to know... Since I see myself as the victim most affected maybe a mod could let me know via p.m.?? Just a thought...
If not, then not...

I don't. The first Presidential election in the US was pretty cut and dry. I can't find anything right now, but I'm pretty sure the elections of the first members of the American Supreme Court were a lot more contested.

We've never elected Supreme Court Justices in the US. They are appointed by the President and then must be confirmed by the Senate. Of course that is by vote and can sometimes be hotly contested. Like now (I hope).

I've struggled with finding the "right" words to put there, and still can't. I feel the need to put something.

Stilgar08, please know that I never did suspect you of anything in what happened. In deed, the emotion most concerning you was regret about the debate that could have been. I was sorry it didn't get a chance to happen.

I sincerely hope to see you and I in a great election next term, along with the other candidates from this term. My vote was a wee bit biased, but otherwise, it might have been difficult. I certainly remember the discussion Stilgar08 and I had in the Triumverate thread, and I've had several with Black Hole, including a memorable (and short-lived!) trial.

The Judiciary has the only elected positions mentioned in the Constitution, giving weight to the importance of the positions. For better of worse, three people help answer questions, resolve disputes and try to settle matters before others need to be involved. This requires trust, faith and strong people to serve. It is unfortunate that two of the three offices have that trust weakened by the election fraud.

I can only say that I hope to rebuild that trust in the Judiciary as a whole, and the Public Defender specifically, and ask that you all help us through that process. I encourage Stilger08, Black_Hole and I Am The Future to share their insight and wisdom with all citizens by commenting on any and all Judicial proceedings. The Judiciary is at its weakest when citizens are silent.

Make this Judiciary a strong one, a trusted one, and a respected one.
