Need help creating the special building for confucianism. I have moses in the religious city, however the option to create the special building, The Kong Miao, is not an option. What am I doing wrong?

go to the religion screen (F7?) and check you are in the right city.

Without meaning to be offensive, are you the civ in your current game that "invented" Confucianism? Because if not, you won't get the opportunity to use a great prophet on that building.

You could have already built the Kong Miao; check the city for it.

I dont know if it matters but Mosses (the historical figure) was a Jew. It may not be possible for him to create a confucianism building.

Hmmm. Not sure if this is an issue, but have you converted to Confucianism? Or have Freedom of Religion enabled? Are sure it's the founding city--sometimes I send my prophet to my capital when the founding city was somewhere else.

Just a thought.

Jew is not a race, there're black jews in North Africa. :crazyeye:

1. Your Great Prophet must be in the city where your religion was founded;

2. Of course, you have to be the one who founded your state religion.

no it doesnt, it doesnt matter what original religous origin they have.

I didnt say that Jew was a race. I am not trying to be insulting, dont accuse me of bigotry, that was not my intention.

Thank you. That is what I was confused over.

Two people have said you must have founded the religion. But that isn't true. In my last game I conquered the holy city for Hinduism, and then was able to build the shrine with a great prophet. So it is not a requirement that you're the one to discover the religion, you just have to occupy the city.

errata's got it right. For the shrine to be built you must control the city that founded the religion (either you founded it or you took the city) and have a great prophet.

For the other religious buildings:

Temple - gotta have the appropriate tech (priesthood) and that religion in the city.
Monastery - gotta have the tech (meditation) and that religion in the city.
Cathedral - gotta have the techs (priesthood and music), that religion in the city, a temple in that city, and at least three of that temple somewhere in your empire per cathedral.

The number of temples per catherdral that you need increases with difficulty level.
