Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong thread..this is my first post. Anyways, I just got this game and its my first ever civilization game, so I just wanted to post my saved game and maybe get some tips from some people.

It looks like you're doing fine, for a first game.

Some tips that might help you in this game:
1) switch to representation / caste system, this will greatly improve your science output from all thos overpopulated cities
2) build more buildings and less military units, you have a fairly large military, so you should be fine for now, you might even want to scrap the older units to save you some cash.

Some tips and advice that might help you lateron:
1) in your next game you'll probably need more cottages
2) less farms! ;)
3) specialize your cities, this will allow you to build all military units in one or two cities (with westpoint and barracks you get 8xp without even a civic switch), get the most from your libraries / universities in an all cottage city, etc. etc.

Still, for a first game, there's hardly a thing going wrong.
I do wonder though, how do you intend to win the game? What victory are you shooting for?

Yeah, personally I would build cottages over the top of some of the farms on the floodplains. Floodplains plus cottage = 3 food and 5+ gold later on depending on your traits and techs. At least on easier difficulties, you should only need as many farms as it will take to sustain you at around 20 population, if that. Biology tech later on gives +1 food to farms, so don't worry about maxing out the populations in the early game.

With the size of the map, ouch, I hope you're not planning for conquest or domination :p

(I am not a 'good' player, I am on Noble at the moment, but hopefully my advice isn't too wrong.)
