I have an ATI Radeon 9100 and need some upgrading, but the question is which one and when. I think of getting a Gforce 6600GT, but it's getting quite old, so would it be better to way a bit more, untill the 6800ies get cheaper? Or should I get another from ATI? I only have AGP and PCI slots.

Anyone here to help me out?

I would go with the 6600GT. By the time it's inadequate for your needs, you'll be wanting to do a full upgrade so that you can have PCI Express.

The 6600GT appears to be a solid recommendation (and Speedo recommending something contributes a lot to my 'solid' ranking). Here's what I got a week ago (Radeon x700-based), and it seems to be performing adequately, and is nice and quiet:

I have the PCI-E version of the 6600GT, it's a very good card for the price.

iam in the same boat:

I planned on getting a 6800LE 128Meg AGP card: Since I intended to OC it with a resonable change (25%) of unlocking all pipes and shaders (effecrivelt a 6800GT).

Though now Iam considering just buying 6600GT. Not overcloockable but slightly cheaper.

I'll decided in the next few days

After checking a lot of different benchmarks and a lot of forumns most people are roughly 50/50 as to choose 6800LE vs 6600GT.

Essentially 6600GT is more powerful then the 6800LE in both 3dmarks and the majority of games.

My preferance was for a 6800LE as unlocking 12pipes would result in a 6800 superior to the 6600GT or all 16pipes results in a 6800GT. Unforunitly nvida is now hardcoding the cores so the chances of unlocking even a set of pipes is low I would guess less then 30% now.

So given that only 50% of being succesful or being screwed. I intend to by the 6600GT. Hopefully this weekend
