View Full Version : Test poll for the usergroup Chieftess Jan 01, 2006, 09:08 PM this is a test.... CivGeneral Jan 01, 2006, 09:09 PM Currently can vote Chieftess Jan 01, 2006, 09:22 PM Urmm, CG - no. This was for Oct. :p I was checking to see how he could see the poll before voting when he's not in the usergroup. Donovan Zoi Jan 01, 2006, 09:49 PM CT, what is this all about? I can see the poll (it shows as if I have already voted), but cannot vote. EDIT: It works now, thanks! Chieftess Jan 01, 2006, 09:52 PM yeah. Sign up and I'll accept your request. Then compare the two. Donovan Zoi Jan 01, 2006, 10:00 PM Just did, CT. Thanks! :) People, please use this link (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=151470) and follow the instructions from Thunderfall. This should make for a smooth transition to the new system. Here's the text of the thread: Attention Civ4 Democracy game players! We have created a new public joinable user group for the Civ4 Democracy Game. This user group permission feature will allow us to see a list of all active Civ4 DG players quickly and most importantly makes it possible to only allow DG players to vote in DG forum polls such as election polls. In the future, we may use it to control access to certain forums and give DG players little icons or different user name style to indicate DG participation. Anyone who wants to participate in the Civ4 Democracy Game needs to request to join the group. This can be done in your User CP --> Group Membership (http://forums.civfanatics.com/profile.php?do=editusergroups). The group leaders, Rik Meleet and Chieftess, will moderate the requests. Once accepted, you will be able to vote in polls in the Civ4 DG forums. ravensfire Jan 01, 2006, 10:04 PM Very cool - I like it! Heck - we could get real tricky with this, and require that all citizen registrations happen prior to the start of the election polls. No gaming the system with last second registrations! -- Ravensfire Chieftess Jan 01, 2006, 10:07 PM And we should still keep the citizen registry up as well as the requirement to register. It keeps a good "2nd paper trail". Donovan Zoi Jan 01, 2006, 10:08 PM Very cool - I like it! Heck - we could get real tricky with this, and require that all citizen registrations happen prior to the start of the election polls. No gaming the system with last second registrations! -- Ravensfire RF, You dog! I was thinking the exact same thing! There's no question that this change will affect our ruleset, so we should probably get working on it immediately. We should also have a "new" Citizen Registry which incorporates the new system. Perhaps we do away with the current, and leave the mods responsible for updating the list via a thread in the Main Forum? ---------------- EDIT: Crossposted with CT. And we should still keep the citizen registry up as well as the requirement to register. It keeps a good "2nd paper trail". Keep in mind that it may cause more work for the mods to keep the "paper trail" current with the actual usergroup. Are you going to be able to delete the posts of users who don't sign up to the group properly? What about those who sign up but neglect the Registry? How many PMs are you willing to send to individuals to get it right? That is why I suggest that you maintain the list. All in all, it would provide the least amount of confusion. Chieftess Jan 01, 2006, 10:14 PM BTW, did anyone notice the name of the usergroup? ;) Ginger_Ale Jan 01, 2006, 10:17 PM Yeah, I wrote that in my reason. Request Reason: Hey guys. :-D Is "DemoCRAZY" intentional?? This is cool. :) Chieftess Jan 01, 2006, 10:19 PM For the 4th time in a row, you are all coming in (signing up) 2 by 2.... Ginger_Ale Jan 01, 2006, 10:22 PM Sweet. BTW, is there any way we can view a list of all the DG members? I know I can do it as a leader for the MTDG ones, but I guess I can't if I'm not a leader...it'd be good to see how many 'real' members we have. DaveShack Jan 01, 2006, 10:23 PM not yet... ;) -- on second thought, yes I can. This is a great idea, I wonder if it has been brought up before? :mischief: Edit: BTW, it's a good thing we don't have any official polls currently open... Chieftess Jan 01, 2006, 10:27 PM not yet... ;) -- on second thought, yes I can. This is a great idea, I wonder if it has been brought up before? :mischief: Edit: BTW, it's a good thing we don't have any official polls currently open... Yes it has. I think I asked TF once about 2-3 years ago. That might've been before membergroups could be made on this forum.. DaveShack Jan 01, 2006, 11:13 PM There's no question that this change will affect our ruleset, so we should probably get working on it immediately. Actually, maybe it won't need to affect the ruleset at all. If the user group only affects voting in polls, then it's just a matter of informing folks that they must register to fully participate. Donovan Zoi Jan 01, 2006, 11:41 PM Actually, maybe it won't need to affect the ruleset at all. If the user group only affects voting in polls, then it's just a matter of informing folks that they must register to fully participate. Either way. But whether by ruleset or mod activation, we should not allow new registrants during the three days of the election cycle. Altering the ruleset would leave things etched in stone, so there will be no confusion about the issue. Of course there are those who will disagree with this, so I feel a discussion is necessary at some point in the near future. I am the Future Jan 02, 2006, 12:05 AM Just signed up, cant vote yet. Swissempire Jan 02, 2006, 12:18 AM I was so confused until i say this poll. It kept saying i couldn't vote and so i kept refreshing!  ravensfire Jan 02, 2006, 12:23 AM Actually, maybe it won't need to affect the ruleset at all. If the user group only affects voting in polls, then it's just a matter of informing folks that they must register to fully participate. Gotta agree with DZ on this one - voting is rather fundamental to what we do. It's an amendment to the Election section of the CoL - All citizen part of the Civ4 Democracy Group when the election polls are posted may vote. This makes the determining easy. If you've been accepted at that point in time - good. If you applied, but weren't accepted, sorry. -- Ravensfire RegentMan Jan 02, 2006, 01:39 AM I like that idea DZ. I can't vote yet (as I haven't been accepted), so everything's working well. Although it does feel weird being the one waiting on approval, and not the other way around! Flotorius Jan 02, 2006, 11:44 AM I can vote here. But why do I get a "poll is closed" message in the subforum and a "you can't vote here" in the main demo forum? BCLG100 Jan 02, 2006, 12:04 PM Sorry but i just had to vote 'no' Flotorius Jan 02, 2006, 12:14 PM Sorry but i just had to vote 'no' At least, you can vote. RegentMan Jan 02, 2006, 01:23 PM I'm now a member and can now vote. I can vote here. But why do I get a "poll is closed" message in the subforum and a "you can't vote here" in the main demo forum? Well, the election polls are closed, so no one can vote in them. RoboPig Jan 02, 2006, 03:42 PM i can vote! how come we dont get the little banners that say the group name on them? koondrad Jan 02, 2006, 04:17 PM The mods probably reckon there's too many people. Anyways, I can vote. Chieftess Jan 02, 2006, 05:10 PM I can vote here. But why do I get a "poll is closed" message in the subforum and a "you can't vote here" in the main demo forum? In the main forum, those polls were election polls. The polls there are over. I am the Future Jan 02, 2006, 05:54 PM Me can vote now  Black_Hole Jan 02, 2006, 06:42 PM Abstain, there is no other option! ;) BCLG100 Jan 02, 2006, 08:58 PM How many people in the citizen registry have actually signed up for the group thing, percentage wise? Flotorius Jan 03, 2006, 01:39 AM In the main forum, those polls were election polls. The polls there are over. But shouldn't it show a "this poll is closed" message, instead of a "you may not vote here"? Why is there a difference? I am the Future Jan 03, 2006, 02:14 AM I want banners!!!! Some body ask Thunderfall, the god of Admins. Stilgar08 Jan 03, 2006, 03:32 AM I just clicked and CAN vote now!!! I don't know if I've been accepted already??? If so, you guys are FAST!!! :) edit: I checked and I am accepted! You guys ARE Fast!!! :D |
