Aythanaeus Jan 02, 2006, 08:00 PM I do not at this time have a Deputy Minister... anyone interested?
Donovan Zoi Jan 02, 2006, 08:38 PM I do not at this time have a Deputy Minister... anyone interested?
I'm no sage, but I suspect you will be hearing from CivGeneral shortly.
bantste Jan 02, 2006, 08:55 PM If you can't get anyone else, I would be interested in the job. I am new to demogame . . . but not to Civ in general. I would like to get more involved.

Aythanaeus Jan 02, 2006, 09:49 PM Wow! Thanks all for all the requests... I honestly never expected so many! You were all very kind and I'm going to think things over... please don't be offended if you are not appointed! You still have an oppritunity to be on the EAB one day!
I'll announce my decision tomorrow, sorry to keep ya'll waiting :mischief:
CivGeneral Jan 02, 2006, 11:39 PM I wish to apply for the Deputyship. If you have already have chosen. Please place me in for an appointmentship for a governor possition.
Aythanaeus Jan 04, 2006, 12:00 AM I have, after careful consideration, chosen Nomad Bryce to be my Deputy for a few reasons.
1) After briefly looking over him he appears to be a very organized person which is exactly what we need in this ministry.
2) He, like me, is new to CivFanactics judging by his post-count but still has experience with Civ IV. I'm hoping to shake this place up and Nomad Bryce has the same enthusiasm I do!
3) He will, hopefully, be willing to help me with my plans for the EAB and web-hosting such a platform would be extremely benificial! He has offered his services in this regard which makes him valuable!
4) I'm going to convert him from Communism :P
All of you all have many qualities I like and I'm not going to overlook any of you in the future. I've made a mental note of who I'm looking at for future positons ;)
Tomorrow Nomad Bryce and I will hopefully get to work!
Good Night All!

BCLG100 Jan 04, 2006, 06:10 AM What happened to the whole NO deputies rule that we have in the law?
ravensfire Jan 04, 2006, 09:29 AM What happened to the whole NO deputies rule that we have in the law?
The Triumverate and the Judiciary do not have deputies. All other elected positions have 'em. (Section 3.B.I.IA, IB)

Nomad Bryce Jan 04, 2006, 02:14 PM I am quite excited to work with Aythanaeus! In all honesty, I'm not a communist. I had made my own version of Civ4 communism which was basically peaceful capitalism (I called it communism because i love making lots of workers, and communism is a "Workers'" thing, but in reality, my Civ4 communism was nothing like real communism (Although people debate what "Real" communism is)) So anyway, the communist party will soon be renamed, and it looks by the voting it will most likely be renamed the "Industrialist Party" So no longer will our members be "Commies"

bantste Jan 05, 2006, 01:24 AM I have, after careful consideration, chosen Nomad Bryce to be my Deputy for a few reasons.
Congratulations!
Nomad Bryce Jan 05, 2006, 10:01 PM Website under construction. To track my progress go here (http://nomadbryce.bravehost.com/MinisterOfInterior.html).
You may ask why build so many cottages (This is not the words of Aythaneaus, I have not discussed this with him yet) If I have my way, cottages will be surrounding all big cities. The huge income gain from the big towns fuels massive science and technology, along with excess gold for trade. (And a military if you think like that you war hawks you) They have proved INVALUABLE in all the games I have played.
I have one message for you today.
"Think about tomorrow today, so tomorrow will pay." - Nomad Bryce
Build cottages for your future
Aythanaeus Jan 06, 2006, 03:15 AM The idea is good but I'm not sure cottages should make up half the tiles... at least not in all cities :) But your on the right track :D
I like what you've proposed and hopefully we can get an open dialogue going, and support it entirely! I'm going to be away this weekend for family and such and your initiative has proven I can leave ya in charge ;) I'm sorry I've been a little distant... usually I'm a chatterbox!
I guess I'm waiting for the game to start and the balls gets rolling before we can begin to make some bigger steps.
-Brad
Nomad Bryce Jan 06, 2006, 02:17 PM Thats great aythanaeus! But um, whats with your signature? You are the MINISTER of the Interior. The head man, not the vice. I'm YOUR deputy, your a minister.
Blkbird Jan 06, 2006, 02:22 PM I'm absolutely dazzles about how you come up with the number of "half the tiles". I'm not against building many Cottages, but "it works in my games" isn't much of a valid argument because there's no way others can't verify it. You need to provide concrete numbers, or, what may be easier, show some screenshots of games you've played as examples, so we can understand just how many Cottages you use to build, and what's more important, *where* you use to build them.
koondrad Jan 06, 2006, 05:52 PM and what's more important, *where* you use to build them.
Absolutely, it’s all circumstantial and not very wise to say that you will build x cottages in each city.
ravensfire Jan 06, 2006, 05:59 PM Of course, the decision about what improvements to build and work is in the hands of the Governors, so that part of the debate is moot.
-- Ravensfire
5star_US Jan 06, 2006, 07:21 PM Does the Secretary of the Interior appoint Governors? If so I'd just like to say I'd be interested in being one.
Nomad Bryce Jan 06, 2006, 08:52 PM 5star, he doesnt appoint governors, everyone else, I said I realize its all circumstantial, and the words "About half" was a miscommunication on my part. All ideas have a prelimenary stage, and this is the preliminary stage of my idea. The idea may even be scrapped, but I see it as beneficial. Perhaps the Industrialization Agency and the Civil Engineers are too similar and should be grouped together, or perhaps workers should just work in general without indivdual groups of them having goals, just, whoever is wherever does whatever is needed. (That was a strange combination of words :P) But I am doing my best to put forward my thoughts and ideas for their improvement and comment. I'm just speculating (Apparently others don't want me to speculate, I find speculation at least an indication of the general ideas of an indivdual) Of course no one can say X cottages. Or about 1/2 cottages (although I did and I was wrong) what I was trying to communicate is that I believe that cottages, WHEN USED RIGHT (And I have found that more often then not they are right for me, but I recognize whats right for me is not right for everybody) are extremely useful. To me, more useful then other improvements in MANY situations not ALL situations. And of course, I believe in cooperation, AND IM JUST A DEPUTY, NOT THE BOSS OF THE DEPARTMENT, but in my view, strategical compromise with the goals of all members of government (Including all citizens, who comprise the legislative body) is essential, and I won't "force" my agenda on anyone, even though I CANT anyway. So in conclusion, I hope you all keep an open mind and I apologize for saying something so bluntly wrong (I honestly didnt mean it, I was trying to say I believe in many cottages depending on the situation) and I would apreciate constructive criticism and suggestions on improvement.
Blkbird Jan 06, 2006, 09:00 PM There is no need to apologize for pushing an agenda. But there *is* still need for some concrete evidence supporting your claim about the benefits of Cottages.
Why don't you just post some examplary screenshots of your games for us to see?
Nomad Bryce Jan 06, 2006, 09:04 PM Just some replys to individual comments
Absolutely, it’s all circumstantial and not very wise to say that you will build x cottages in each city.
Koondrad, I mean, we at least know eachother a LITTLE bit, you know I didn't say "Build X cottages in each city" I was at least mildly vague giving an esitmate figure. You know I don't think like that. I'm an analyst. Everytime I play any strategic game where I can count and calculate I do, and I cant count and calculate surroundings that don't exist. So I just want to say, Koondrad, I'm not an idiot and I would not say "Build X cottages per city" I'm just slightly hurt by what you said. Especially because I consider you a demogame friend who would give me a little more consideration before saying something like that, especially when it is not what I said.
Of course, the decision about what improvements to build and work is in the hands of the Governors, so that part of the debate is moot.
Workers assigned to the Minister of the Interior are his to do with as he plans (Which brings in to question the strange idea of a dissagreeing governor and minister of interior who build over eachother's improvements, which I would just let the governors have their way but theres nothing saying it couldnt be done) so if he wants to work in a city's tiles he can. Which means improvements are in the hands of both the governors AND the minister of interior.
ravensfire Jan 06, 2006, 09:47 PM Nomad Bryce,
What you've got is a GREAT topic for a discussion on the Citizen's forum! Keep this thread more focused on the business of the MoI, and give your thoughts the attention they deserve.

Blkbird Jan 06, 2006, 10:00 PM Nomad Bryce,

I completely agree.
Nomad Bryce Jan 06, 2006, 10:13 PM Blkbird is quite right and now its time to walk the walk or admit defeat. So, after examining my saves, and seeing tons of towns, I couldnt remember how they got there, or how they atributed to my success. But for some reason I always remember atributing them to my success. So I have started an Indian Prince game to attempt to show that at least in the case of this Indian Prince game, my strategy either works or doesnt work. And of course there are other factors to success then just growing towns. But I will attempt to focus on how towns will help this nation. ON THE OTHER HAND, I will not have the other side of the coin, using NON towns more then towns. I encourage all to attempt to experiment with IMPROVEMENTS and demonstrate the effects on the game with various strategys. I hope we can continue strong discussion on the handling of the nations interior affairs for the betterment of the entire nation.

Nomad Bryce Jan 06, 2006, 10:16 PM Ok, blkbird requests screenshots of the old games anyway, so I might as well show everyone what I've got. I will take some screenies and edit them into this comment.
Thanks for the hosting tip blkbird. Some random screenshots of town/cottage usage. Totally random shots, feel free to comment, I don't really plan on using these to support my arguements. Please note the name [scuzbucket] is a nickname for a friend we call Scoozy Floozy, whom the leader is named after.
This shot shows farms on floodplains. This is not my usual method, I generally build cottage on floodplains. I am content gaining 3 food from the tile, I would rather get the big town bonus in income.

Usually with well developed cities, I turn grasslands into towns, plains into farms, and hills into mines. You can see that I built a workshop on one tile, and some towns on plains in this shot. I do deviate based on circumstances, no idea why in this picture.

This shot is more typical of my improvement strategy.

This shot is of a city with many towns. Lots of money bags (Cha ching, lol)

Blkbird Jan 06, 2006, 10:51 PM Thanks, NB.
As a sidenote, please don't post hugh screenshot images into the thread. Better upload to an image server (like http://imageshack.us/ ) and post the thumbnail links here (ImageShack even creates forum-compatible code for thumbnail links for you).
ravensfire Jan 06, 2006, 11:11 PM Too many things at once means Ravensfire loses his place!

Blkbird Jan 06, 2006, 11:26 PM Why do I feel the Flex system is better?
Wrong thread, Pal! :crazyeye:
Blkbird Jan 06, 2006, 11:44 PM Some random screenshots of town/cottage usage.
Oh my. We're discussing tile productions, and yet you post screenshots with Yield Display deactivate...
Please, if you can, repost some screenshots with Show Tiles (Ctrl-T), Yield Display (Ctrl-Y) and All Resources Display (Ctrl-R) activated. We can't really see much on the current screenshots, as Tile Yield calculation can't be done nonchalantly in our heads.
koondrad Jan 07, 2006, 08:09 AM Koondrad, I mean, we at least know eachother a LITTLE bit, you know I didn't say "Build X cottages in each city" I was at least mildly vague giving an esitmate figure. Comrade Bryce,
That wasn't a dig at you and I'm sorry you read it that way. I was just making an observation in general.
You have a very analytical mind and I expect that you'll give us excellent detailed reports as well as steering us down the peaceful industrialization path.
I feel guilty that you reacted like that.
Nomad Bryce Jan 07, 2006, 09:47 PM Ugh, I just read the announcement and I am a little bit disgusted, and not sure how to react. I dont want to accuse alphawolf of anything, but he is the one who nominated me for Minister of Culture, so I figure if he voted, he probobly voted on my election too. All of this seems like too much to bear. I would really like to see the government go flexible now that I know whats goin down. Anyway, I would really like the REAL people who voted for me to pm me so I can feel a little better, even though I don't think I still won. I don't really feel like posting a whole lot, but I promise to get back on that Town Agenda in good time, complete with experiment Prince game.
Chieftess Jan 07, 2006, 10:19 PM On screenshots - it's better to:
1 - Use the file upload server.
2 - Compress the images using jpg format.
Imageshack does host images, but I've read for a limited time. The images may vanish when you need them the most.
Blkbird Jan 07, 2006, 10:25 PM Anyway, I would really like the REAL people who voted for me to pm me so I can feel a little better, even though I don't think I still won.
First, this is actually the wrong thread, as you're not *elected* Deputy Minister of the Interior - you're appointed to this position. You *are* however elected Minister of Culture - which is another thread...
Second, your election has been confirmed, if you read the "updated results":
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=151795
So there is no doubt about the legality of either of your offices, and especially no need to feel "guilty" for anything. Being demotivated is a luxury you shouldn't be allowing yourself, as we do have work to do, and I encourage you to continue doing it.
Let's get some things done despite (or because of) some people considering it impossible at this time.
DaveShack Jan 19, 2006, 06:48 PM Minister Aythanaeus,
We have founded our first city, and you now have the responsibility and duty to appoint a Governor. Please attend to this matter as soon as possible. :)
Swissempire Jan 19, 2006, 07:33 PM Minister Aythanaeus has not for 11 days since he is supposed to have returned. I don't know what we are supposed to do in this situation, but he left his post to Nomad Bryce. Though if Nomad Bryce decides to become the Minister of the Interior, he cannot also be the Minister of Culture! It seems that he must choose!( BE the Minister of the Interior!);)
Blkbird Jan 19, 2006, 08:19 PM I don't think NB has to "become" the Minister of the Interior. He can continue to work as the Deputy Minister.
DaveShack Jan 19, 2006, 09:08 PM Minister Aythanaeus has not for 11 days since he is supposed to have returned. These are good questions but they need to be asked in the right place to be effective. (hint hint) ;)
Nomad Bryce Jan 20, 2006, 10:33 PM I fear aythaneaus has gone missing? Hopefully he will return soon, but if not I would like comments on the workings of this ministry! If he does not return before the next turnchat it is my duty to appoint a Governor, and I feel Chieftess is the best choice for the position. Feedback would be great! thank you.
Swissempire Jan 21, 2006, 09:46 PM I'm confzzled on the whole govna thing. Are ou accepting noms and seeing who people like, or just appointing. I would like to no?
Nomad Bryce Jan 21, 2006, 10:03 PM Honestly, I was confuzzled myself! I heard somewhere Interior department appoints governor until elections are held. So I just kind of did. If its an invalid command I'm sure they'll just ignore me, lol
DaveShack Jan 22, 2006, 07:14 PM Aythanaeus has been declared AWOL by the Judiciary and the MoI position vacant. Under the rules, the deputy Nomad Bryce assumes the role of MoI.
At this point it is now possible (and required IMO) to appoint a first term governor for our Capital city.
Swissempire Jan 23, 2006, 04:44 PM "raises hand" Ooh ooh ooh Pick Me, Pick Me, Back here, ooh pick me !:) ;) :goodjob: :p
ravensfire Jan 24, 2006, 10:41 AM Minister,
There is a scheduled game session tomorrow evening. Although it's dependant on this poll (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=155320), please post instructions in case it does happen. Even if you have no instructions, it will let me know that you are aware of the session.
Thanks,
