When I put my start file up for a check it told me I had an "unrecognized install" for 1.52. I haven't done any modding or file modification on the game at all beyond installing 1.52. What are some possible reasons I'm getting this?

If this happens could you please send the following to hof@civfanatics.net:

The results of running ainwood's utility at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=151247
An example start file.

Hi Schee,

Could you download this utility:

HOF Asset Checker 1.1 (http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/mods/Civ4AssetChecker1.1.zip)

Extract it from the zip file and run it. Click on "Check". When that completes click on "Save Results" and save the .csv file somewhere, then send that .csv file back to us at hof@civfanatics.net.

OK I feel a bit stupid now... actually I had modified one byte in the CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml file to make the barbarians playable (in november, so I didn't really remember it). I changed the 1 back to 0 and now everything's fine. Sorry for the disturbance

i made a clean install and it still says: "Version: 1.61 Unrecognized Install" on the start file check page and in game on the settings page shows "Balanced (Not allowed)" for the map type:confused:
if i choose another map script (great plains for example) then it doesn't show the warning in game but on the start file check page it still fails...

Try downloading and runing the assetchecker (http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/mods/Civ4AssetChecker1.2.zip).

Extract it from the zip file and run it. Click on "Check". When that completes click on "Save Results" and save the .csv file somewhere, then send that .csv file back to us at hof@civfanatics.net.

We'll see if we can figure it out.

This one's easy. We have restricted which maps you are allowed to play. See the section headed "Map Settings" on the rules page at http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/rules.php.

I'm not sure the asset checker will work as it needs updating to 1.61, but may be worth a try. Could you send me a start save to hof@civfanatics.net so I can take a look?

Thanks! It looks like a different CRC is generated depending on whether you install under "My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\MODS" or "Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods". We recommend you install under My Documents now, but it should work fine under Program Files as well. I've added that CRC to the good list, so it should recognize the install now.

It did, but not any more. See this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=153037).
