Hi

I just couldn't ignore this thread without making the following suggestions (hence I had to register):

1. Ireland should be Spiritual and Aggressive

2. UU should reflect the age that Michael Collins was present in - i'd say have a more modern unit like the IRA (as in the civil war malitia) or the IRB.

I like your idea of having the city names in Irish. That's a nice touch. If you need a hand with some more, PM me.

hi daniel! great work!
a suggestion, it hould be cool to propose 2 or 3 leaders , due to different aspect of this civ.

actily the bonuses r for leaders, not to the entire civ ;) When I did create this civ for Civ3 and want to represent the ancient and the modern Ireland, for this reason leader and UU r from different eras :)

Did you try loading the mod? When you start the game go to Advanced => Load a Mod, then select the Irish Civ. It will tell you that the game must be restarted for the mod to load, click OK and wait for the mod to be loaded.

Once the game comes up again, with the Irish mod loaded, start a new game and then choose your civ (Irish civ) from the available list.

Love the mod Civ Army! Was very enthused to see Ireland as a new civ for the game. i seem to be having a problem with the mod, though a minor one. For some reason, the flag isn't loading. As shown by the SS below, neither the flag next to the unit on the main map, nor the larger flag sitting next to the minimap load, merely showing an empty gray flag. Any help/suggestions? I installed the mod as advised, putting the "Ireland" folder into the "Mods" folder..

From what I'm seeing of the Civ 4 LH's and their attributes, there appears to be roughly one for the modern age, and one for times more distant in the past. For example, India with Ghandi and Asok. A clear representation of a more or less modern LH and his attribures and what he made his nation out to represent and an ancient type LH. Personally if this was the case, I'd like to see more than one UU for each civ, a more or less modern one and an ancient one but thats just me ;) I think for this case you might consider using Michael Collins as the modern-ish LH and perhaps Brian Boru or a similar time period leader for the older LH.

I also had another question.. Would it not be possible to create two different style/flavor of a civ? For example, having one "Ireland(A)" [for ancient], or perhaps simply "Ancient Ireland", with Brian Boru as the leader, and the UU swordsman you have here, and then another civ "Ireland(M)" [for modern] {obviously ;) }, or perhaps "Republic of Ireland", with Michael Collins as the leader and say IRA or some such as their UU? Would this even be plausible??

Just my $.02 at any rate. ;)

If you want two different Ireland's, just use mine as the ancient one. Old flag, colors, and leaders from the middle ages and early renaissance.

Only problem is that he doesn't have a "modern" UU.

Right, but I was just using that as an example for a way to separate the different LH's ;) Another example maybe, George washington as LH for 'Revolutionary America' with a minuteman or some such as the UU; Roosevelt as LH for a 'Modern America' with the SEALS as the UU. Just an idea anyways; but, we're getting off topic now ;)

Nope. Haven't played Civ since late December. Lack of inspiration.

@Little cylcone: I expect create a 2nd leader to Ireland to represent the old times, this was my intentation, a united Ireland that represents old and modern times :D
BTW, the flag problem is happening in many Civ4 around the World :( and I don't know how to solve it untill not  I'm sure it is a tiny detail that I can't see

Awesome job with the civ. I would have done it myself but I have no idea how to :) If you want suggestions for an older leader, I think you should make Brian Boru. I think he is a very under estimated leader in history. That would be sweet. Also the gaelic names are a nice touch.

Theres a small selection do to Irelands history, I'd suggest:

Theobald Wolfe Tone
Phelim O'Neill (Sir Felim O'Neill of Kinard)

Leaders of two rebellions, 1641 and 1798, both executed for their parts.
